Went here for the first time today. What a great find. We love trying out new walks with the dogs and it didn’t disappoint.
Lots of different areas to discover. Woods, fields and a few interesting signposts explaining the history of the place.

I live so close here and often take my dog for a walk there. I love it. It's pretty and very scenic. A lovely family place too.

An interesting and varied walk through woodland and open fields here. Not a long walk, but enjoyable to stroll and learn about the history of The Rings.

There are certainly historic remnants here as seen in the landscape, however without the signs or the wonder of Google these would lie missed by many!
Those who enjoy walking where are ancestors stood should visit for a while and enjoy the peace wondering about those from long ago.

Having passed the rings on several occasions I decided to take a walk around it.I agree that it can be a little confusing to begin with but as you walk around and read the signs things start to fall into place. The old earth fort walls are covered with woods now but the banks are still clearly visible and accessible. With a little imagination the former Iron Age hill fort comes to life. It's a fairly modest sight but worth a visit. It would e a struggle for anyone in a wheel chair and there are no loos on the sight.

There IS a car park off of Silver Street but it will only take 2 or 3 cars. There are now new information plaques and benches in the 1st field and a new entrance off of Southampton Road that has been raised to alleviate the 'puddle problem'. Great in spring for the bluebells.

Not many visitors and mainly locals as no car park nearby. A pleasant walk in the country surrounded by nature and steeped in local history.

You need your imagination, helped by maps, plans and information plaques, to appreciate this ancient monument. Some of the ditches remain but much was damaged beyond repair before such places were under preservation orders. It is still a good place for children to run about, sledge or skateboard.

Having passed Buckland Rings for many years, my wife and I decided it was time to find a convenient place to park and explore the ancient site managed by Hampshire County Council. But we left feeling very disappointed and extremely confused about what this site actually is! Firstly there is no parking, at least not from what appears to be the main entrance on Southampton Road, so you need to find roadside parking that has minimum restrictions. However, while walking around the site, my wife and discovered a small parking area for about three cars, but where the vehicle entrance is located is anyone's guess. It certainly doesn't seem to be signposted anywhere from the main road. There was a sign inviting us to follow the yellow route or the red route, but it would actually be helpful if these routes were marked more consistently. Yes, we did keep seeing the occasional yellow or red marker, but these were so disconnected and distant from each other that it was impossible to actually follow either route so we just followed well-worn pathways instead. There were occasional information boards, but the word "information" is actually being generous. One board was also positioned in the wrong place, telling us that we were looking at the centre of the fort in front of us when, in reality, the centre of the fort was behind us! Okay, it didn't take long to work out the error, but surely Hampshire County Council should get it right in the first place?! There was also an old quarry which is now some BMX race track for local young people. A good idea, but one that seemed completely out of place within a scheduled ancient monument! Buckland Rings is probably ideal for local residents who want to walk their dogs somewhere, but neither my wife and I considered is a place to which we will return in the near future. It just doesn't haven't anything to offer and what it does is very confusing and needs to have a better identity.

Ancient iron age hill fort, looks like a "hill", now with new bench! if you are a teen this is the ideal location for drinking cider or eating pizza.
Try to imagine what those iron age celts would make of modern Lymington, would they love it or hate it? who knows and frankly who cares! Come here if you like hills and benches.
