During the VIP experience at Gauntlet birds of prey, I would have to say it was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. Holding a range of eagles, hawks and other birds of prey was a massive highlight of the day! They also have a lovely ethos into conversation and the protection of the birds they care for.
I would highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic place! We loved our visit. We learnt so much (especially about the Vultures). What a fantastic place who also do so much amazing conservation work. Great place for anyone to visit.

Gauntlet was an excellent leisurely day out for myself, wife, and 15 month old daughter. It's by no means a full day attraction, but whilst a small, family run business, there was plenty of shows and detailed talks to keep us entertained for over 3 hours without us having to force ourselves to waste time.
Now a place featuring birds of prey sounds interesting, and the sheer number of birds was great. Lots of informative signs with simplistic but interesting facts, and the presenters of the show obviously know what they're talking about, with excellent public speaking, obvious by their confidence and lack of "ums, aahs, errs". Clear, concise, and with a very clear message about supporting the declined vulture population that's so central to our ecosystem. I feel confident to talk about it, such as their excellent delivery of the information.
We took a packed lunch, but theirs a cafe there with sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and snacks, and a large wooden play area for older children (than mine) to play on. And for the price, it's a well priced afternoon out.

I spent a Saturday there with my daughter and we both enjoyed it. It was informative, and whilst not a huge place, we were engaged for the duration.
Just one complaint....how dare they use a rubber snake to display the Seriema's wonderful technique for dealing with them (entirely in jest!)!

Took our 9yr old grandson for the 1hr experience today, he absolutely loved every minute. Dylan was wonderful and quickly put Jude at ease. We all learned lots of facts about the birds and were amazed at the free flight show at the end, left us with goosebumps. Thanks to all the great staff that made Judes day so special (and ours)

My two children (aged 10 and 7) and I visited today. I had to write about it, as I just think this is the most brilliant and important place and I enjoyed the day even more than I expected to. We arrived a little before 12 and spent 4 hours at Gauntlet. It was absolutely fascinating! We are animal lovers, but knew nearly nothing about birds of prey, so this was really educational and entertaining for us.
I came away feeling so much better informed about these majestic, characterful creatures. To watch them fly at such close quarters was truly uplifting. They are allowed to go off plan and fly away if they wish and return later in the day - as one of the hawks when we were there did! 😊 The birds obviously have a fantastic bond with the staff and are full of natural instinct and personality.
We attended the vulture talk, 12.30 show, meet and greet and 3pm finale flying show, all included in the standard ticket price. The staff were so passionate and knowledgeable and I learnt so much about the birds’ animal behaviours and habitats, as well as the declining numbers in the wild and the conservation efforts that are needed.
I never knew anything about the importance of vultures in the ecosystem and I was amazed to learn of how vital they are to human health and survival in Asia and Africa. I think if I’d been a child it might even have inspired me to get involved in bird conservation. I really hope their plight improves and there was more we could all do to help.
My children were enchanted by the birds, as well as the other animals in residence such as the pole cats, tortoises and goats. We enjoyed spending time viewing all the animals in between shows, as well as having a cup of tea and an ice cream. There is a relatively simple playground and a really nice cafe on site, but the main entertainment is simply the animals and the encyclopaedic knowledge of the staff, which was more than enough for us!
As a bonus, there is a garden centre (separate business) next door if you wanted to tag that onto your visit. We didn’t personally, but it looked like a nice place.

Genuinely amazed by this visit. So much more going on that I expected especially for such a reasonable entrance fee.
Loved all 4 shows, very knowledgeable staff who showed their care and passion towards all of the birds.
Really looking forward to going back especially to see Kevin! Absolutely fell in love with him.

What a brilliant day the staff so friendly seeing all the birds was well worth it.At £12.50 a bargain the arena shows and information great would highly recommend.will go again

To be honest I don’t know for sue but I would doubt it. The free bird display has the birds flying close by, I had a vulture sat on the bench next to me at one point, and a dog wouldn’t be compatible with that I’m afraid. I’ve been a few times and haven’t seen any dogs. Sorry.

There are picnic benches and they are happy for you bring your own food. There is also a shop selling souvenirs, sweets, drinks and ice cream.

My family (2 parents, 2 teens) will be visiting this part of England in May, and Gauntlet Birds of Prey has been on our destination wish list since we started planning our trip. But because of scheduling issues, it looks like we may have only a few hours open in the earlier part of the morning or in the evening. Does anyone know whether experiences can be scheduled outside the center's normal opening hours?
