I am a science geek. Have been since I was a kid in Amsterdam. All my life I have been entranced by the genius that was Isaac Newton.
It was been a real honour to visit Ellys Manor House the home of my hero Isaac Newton. It was not at all as I expected and to be honest I was a little disappointed that there was no reference whatsoever to the great man or his work.

Had a weekend in Lincoln, travelled to Ellys Manor House on spec. When we got there (in the pouring rain) the house was closed. There was a notice on the door which I read and then one of the windows was opened by a gentleman who explained he had no alternative but to close the doors to the public. I have since read that due to the neighbour and the council they have restricted the use of the outbuildings for the project. Councils again, all power no foresight or brain! Instead of the neighbours thinking about they could cash in think how about leaving a legacy to future generations, their name remembered for years/ decades to come. PLEASE sign the Petition on Ellys Manor website. Every voice counts

Clive Taylor is a wonderful personality with a wealth of information and love for the property and its importance of it. A piece of history that is one of a kind. I have been here twice and was touched by the heart felt investment he has had for many years in preserving this treasure. The surrounding property is amazing. The town small and beautiful and Clive is very dedicated man to history and having the visitors educated.
If anything he is overly passionate.

An amazing Tudor house with a guided tour with enthralling details on the builder and previous owners. The wall paintings from early 1500s are outstanding and probably unique.

We did not know of the existence of this house until we were researching where to go on a short break in Grantham, we were so pleased to discover it. If you get the opportunity to visit do take it, you will not be disappointed.
Mr. Taylor, Clive is very passionate about his home and rightly so, it truly is a hidden gem. His knowledge and enthusiasm brings the history of the building and the magnificent wall paintings to life. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours on a private tour.
We wish him well with the ongoing restoration and his problems with the powers that be, the house could not be in safer hands.

I visited this Manor House in the Summer of 2017 and the owner was most interesting to talk to. I was most surprised and delighted at the painted walls. I learned a lot through visiting this place. I highly recommend this little known gem. Entrance fee should be higher.

This beautiful house shows how domestic buildings have been altered and developed over the years. A huge amount of care and love has gone into this beautiful house with medieval wall paintings which alone make a visit worthwhile .

This Manor House is tucked away next to the church as you enter Boothby Pagnell just off the A1 after Grantham. We visited earlier today. Be prepared for a very comprehensive and very informative experience. The owner was our guide. He is passionate about his mission to restore this fascinating property. He has spent a great deal of time already and admits he has a long way to go in his research and restoration work. If you have an interest in social history, art and architecture you cannot fail to be amazed by what you see and hear. Well worth a visit. Thank you once again and we will visit Pickering church when next in the area.

Having just joined the HHA we weren't sure what to expect when we arrived at the manor. We were greeted by the owner and given a personal tour which lasted over 2hrs. Obviously very passionate and proud of his house, he is very knowledgeable not only about the history of the house and amazing wall paintings, but also about the Northern Renaissance. He also has visited a wide variety of similar buildings in Britain and Europe.

Having the guided tour alerted us to lots of features we would otherwise have missed and opened up a manor house that deserves to be visited and better known. The family also had far reaching connections with other properties such as Blickling Hall in Norfolk where the Ellys collection of books now resides. Well worth a visit if in the area.

We parked in the nearby car park at the back of the church as there is nowhere else. It's on a narrow road just off the A1. It's also not signposted, and the house name isn't visible if driving downhill from the A1 - it's next to the church.

We really enjoyed our visit through the HHA. The owner was very enthusiastic and informed. He really loves this house and we learnt a lot about its history, the lives of the wool merchants and the Hanseatic league. Left with lots more to investigate from Aesops fable of the wolf and the crane to the chancellor's woolsack.
