Nice site by the river, usual good standard NT cafe. Seating inside and out and good displays of the history which has happened here.

This is a review for the tearoom only, over priced, inexperienced staff front of house struggle to communicate with customers. The highlighted example of this, is Sunday afternoon when they close at 4.00pm if you arrive at 3.30 you will find chairs on tables out of action, no hot food available, staff not willing to try and provide anything. Leaving you feeling you are in the way of them closing even though there is still 30mins to go of open hours? I personally wouldn’t care if they closed at 3.30pm. But please do not write 4.00pm on the blackboard sign outside, if you neither intend to provide a service, or want to be there. But above all do not start wrapping up the business well before closing time!

Hi,
We're sorry to hear about that you didn’t have a positive experience at the Magna Carta tearoom. As a smaller National Trust establishment, we need to manage our catering carefully to reduce waste. Unfortunately, on the day you visited, we had sold out of many items.
For the last half hour of the day, we only offer a take-away service to enable us to close on time. We appreciate that this has been poorly communicated and have updated our signage and staff training to explain this more clearly and reduce any disappointment in the future.

A fascinating place, no less because across the riverbank from Runnymede on National Trust grounds, there is a magnificent yew tree, the oldest tree in England. The Ankerwycke Yew has seen its share of history, and bore witness to King John signing the Magna Carta just across the river 8 centuries ago. It is said that Henry VIII courted Anne Boleyn under this tree, and its extreme age means that it was even alive during Roman times. A truly fascinating living organism, in 2002 it was nominated as one of the 50 Great British Trees, and it is 2500 years old!

We visited the Magna Carta chairs where King John's historic sealing of Magna Carta took place over 800 years ago. We saw the 2,500 year old Ankerwycke Yew tree and also visited the new Writ in Water architectural artwork by Turner-prize winning artist Mark Wallinger. We had a nice walk along the River thames too so was a lovely afternoon.

Ok for a quick stop off and wonder round if passing. I wouldn't make a special journey to see it as there isn't much to see but a pleasant walk across some fields

45 years ago, I loved this place. Maybe I am jaded, but I cannot see any point in going out of ones way to visit a grass field with a monument. No visitor center, just notice boards. Car park is good for picnics by the river, under the flight path of LHR. Nearby town of Old Windsor is tatty, and parking near Windsor Castle is difficult.

For such an iconic site, was surprised how little was here. The JFK memorial was good as was the magna carta one. A couple of art exhibits too but not many notices or signs. Expected more exhibits. Lovely area for a walk though. Shop is in the tea rooms with not much choice.

Lovely place to wander around. Some shorter and longer routes, mostly easy walking and clearly signposted. Good parking and a nice cafe.

Another superb sunny afternoon, lounging under our favourite tree next to the Thames, watching the boats go by, and and the incomings into Heathrow (well I love it)! A picnic, few beers, chairs, books, and a short stroll along the river, what more can you want?

Its best to park in the runnymede car park to see the statue of the Queen. Drive a little further up and park on the right hand side near theTea Rooms so that you can cross the road to see the seats and other memorials.The RAF memorial is excellent but you have to drive, its well sign posted and not too far, the views are superb as is the memorial. Not at all difficult.

Hi, can anyone tell me please how far it is from the tearoom carpark to the Magna Carta memorial? We will be in Windsor mid-September with very limited time, but I am keen to have morning tea at the cafe and if time permits walk to the memorial (I'm presuming you cannot drive to it?) We are slow walkers!
