This is an amazing place. It’s not closed at all …. It’s open Thursday- Sunday and school holidays it’s open all the time …

Great friends and family venue, excellent fun to paint ceramics. Lots of choices easy to do and really lovely place to take time out with friends, or entertain the kids for a bit. The staff are excellent and are on hand to help if you need it. There is a lovely cafe too. Everything you can paint you can take home once its all fired in the Kiln, so you can create your own little memories and keep sakes. Loved It!

Had a lovely couple of hours with my grandson today. new experience for me. Jo-Jo was very helpful. Good choice of ceramics and wide range of colours to create the desired effect. I liked the numbering system, so it was clear what your finished, fired object would look like. Refreshments available. Pricing realistic. Good experience and would recommend it.

This is the third time in 6 months we have been to paint pottery, and the reason we keep going back is the excellent service, communication and atmosphere!
We love painting here and each time have taken our small babies and welcomed with happy smiling faces!
Most definitely recommend to visit here!

We booked our daughter's birthday party here and what a special party it was. Nothing was too much trouble. My daughter chose an initial painting party and the ladies had set everything out ready for them to be able to paint their letters and had even decorated the party room! The party food was delicious and plentiful, especially the fruit kebabs which the children devoured. The children really enjoyed the painting experience, chatting and painting together. Thank you very much for making it such a great afternoon. Our daughter loved every minute and said it was her best party ever!

Just visited for my daughter’s 18th birthday treat with her closest friends.
Atmosphere was amazing. Staff were fabulous!
….and it’s wheelchair friendly!!

We visited the clay studio recently for an afternoon as part of a hen weekend. From the start, communications were easy and clear. There were 20 people in the group and the staff put on an excellent event for us! It was organised, fairly priced, great fun and the staff went above and beyond to make it easy for us. There was even real champagne in the afternoon tea! The bride said this was the best part of her weekend :) huge choice of things to paint with varying price tags and great for a group with varying abilities in painting. Recommend!!

Lily. Many thanks for taking the time to write this. We are so pleased you had a good time. We enjoyed hosting your party too! This is an excellent activity for a mix of abilities as it is not just about creating amazing art but having an experience you can enjoy together with something to show for it at the end. I hope Meg liked her bee plate. The champagne cream tea is a nice touch that makes the party extra special.

Really upset with the last visit! Me, my husband an our son visited the studio and wanted to paint an item together. We were told that this is not allowed and we have to buy at least two items (at least £15 each) and pay two studio fees (approx £5 each). We really wanted to do a family project, there was no point in one adult doing their own. Tried to explain but staff seemed to not care. So we were told we need to share the fee for not following above rules which is £15 pounds and that would be it. In the end we were charged this fee AND studio fee. overall we paid £35 for one small piggy to paint but what is more important, we had completely spoiled mood.

Many thanks for your review. We are sorry that you do not understand how The Clay Studio works. We are a predominantly adult relaxation activity, ideal for a few hours of calm. However, it is also great for children who have a good attention span. It is wonderful activity to undertake as a family as it is something that children can undertake alongside adults. Unlike other family attractions we allow one non-participant (non-painter) per booking. This is partly for safety reasons and out of consideration for other visitors but also to ensure that those wishing to paint are not turned away when we have seats occupied by non-painters. We prefer this approach to changing an entry fee to every person which is the other option as chosen by other family activities such as cinemas, theme parks, etc. We are only a small business and we are frequently operating at full or close to full capacity so we cannot accommodate additional non-painters. A large number of non-painters would require us to charge higher prices to those painting which would be unfair. Usually everyone is painting in their own right. I have noted that you chose a small, low-priced piece to paint. Clearly, this is OK for one person but we had two non-participants not painting their own piece. During the booking process you are told three times that we allow one non-painter per booking (a painter is defined as painting a piece in their own right). Therefore, you paid a child Studio Fee of £3.50 and the price of the piece. One non-painter was admitted at no charge. The other non-painter was charged the minimum painting price (Studio Fee plus the lowest-priced piece) of £15 and you could have painted this piece too without any additional costs. You were charged considerably less that we would normally expect from three people painting.
We do also state when booking that there is another option should you wish to have several people painting one piece or you wish to have “spectators”. We have a paint-at-home option where you can purchase your piece and paints, collect from us and then return for glazing and firing.
We trust this makes things clear. We are an honest, long-established business and we are very transparent about our cost structure. All our prices and conditions are clear on our Web site and when booking. You were charged correctly in line with our published costs and conditions.

I Must firstly say" I found very OVERPRICED" Very expensive... Has to be said..
BUT, That being said, The reason I gave 5* Is because Martin and others were very helpful and nice and polite and could not do enough to help! And the coffee was lovely and tasty.. All went well.. If you do not mind the prices.. They really need to come down a few pounds on all the pottery items..

We are very pleased you enjoyed yourself at The Clay Studio. We are always try to be friendly and relaxing. As far as the costs are concerned we keep the prices as affordable as we can but we do have to pay our bills and the taxman so prices are determined by this. There is a wide range of prices so there is something for all budgets and the is no time limit on how long you can stay painting at The Clay Studio. Furthermore, all our prices including the 450+ pieces available for painting are shown on the Web site so you can know all the costs before booking your table to paint. We believe we are good value compared with other leisure activities (and many people have told us this) if you follow the guidelines given by our staff and take your time planning and painting for maximum relaxation over a few hours.

We have jacket potatoes available. There is a full menu on the Web site under “Cafe”. Please note that we are currently on annual holiday and reopen on 11 January.
