Usually a great bar but the doorman is not the best! If your face fits he lets you in if he doesn't like the look of you then no chance!

Following my last disappointment Emma invited us today and they certainly redeemed themselves. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was delicious and piping hot and the portions more acceptable. We will definitely go again for lunch and suggest this is a place to put on your “to visit “ list. Many thanks to everyone involved.

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to jump the tram down from Newcastle Upon Tyne to Whitley Bay and take in the delights of this lovely seaside resort and what a great find in The Fat Ox Pub ,a pub that was just a joy to visit.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, multi roomed, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, pubby decor and furnishings, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a proper chill out pub .
We were here on a Wednesday afternoon, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered a Strongbow cider each,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub.
My cider was really good, a hot afternoon and nothing cuts through the thirst like a cider, so tasty, so refreshing, absolutely perfect.
We both really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Fat Ox Pub we were totally impressed.
The Fat Ox Pub is easy to locate along Whitley Road.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11.15pm.
A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The Fat Ox on Whitley road was one of the many pubs we visited on a day trip around Whitley Bay and Monkseaton and was one of the friendliest pubs we visited.
This historic old pub dates from 1922 and is well worth visiting as it offers a great range of cask and commercial ales and hosts live music every Saturday night and show's live sport on multiple TV screens.
The excellent pub has a traditional interior with many interesting feature's and superb seating options throughout the whole pubs interior.We had just visited the Dog&Rabbit micro-brew pub and decided to go in here for a few beers.
A nice pub with a friendly atmosphere and friendly staff who made us feel so welcome when we visited.When here we had a cider from the Strongebow brewery which where very refreshing and well priced.The Fat Ox is an excellent pub and is well worth a visit and is very easy to find from Marden Road bus stop it's a short walk.

The day was cold and damp. One of those days were you feel chilled right down to the bone. Looking for shelter from the elements to restore My weary body I walked the streets of Whitley bay. Then out of the mist a beacon of hope appeared like a mirage in the desert I headed towards this little bit of hope. As I opened the door wiping the rain from my eyes it hit me. It hit me hard. Like seeing a holy miracle. Like seeing Newcastle United winning a cup. A poster. A poster the would warm even the coldest of hearts. (£1.90 a pint of John Smiths). Was it real was it in my head had I seen it wrong. No there it was it was real. Stepping forward to the bar a tall gentleman in a black cap greeted me warmly and asked me my order. John Smiths I stuttered still in shock at the price. But still as he poured in aye was sceptical. He place the heavenly pint in front of me and said. £2.10 please. I froze in shock unable to move are talke for a few moments. £1.90 the sign says i muttered. The barman look at me and said it it is Normally but it goes up the weekend 20p. Realising it was 11-38am Saturday the 4 of June I agreed to pay the extra 20p. The pint was one of the best I had drank for a long time. Traveling the country from Shetland to Cornwall like I have you remember a good pint. And this was up there with a great kebab are for the vegans a Gregg's veg sausage roll.( They tast nowt like sausage) after 8 of these pints and only spending £16.80 wich is normal wat you pay for 3 not so good pint in most pubs I left looking for a Doner kebab with chilli and salad. But that pub and the people in it will live with me forever especially the price's. till the next time we're brought back together. Probably Friday when a get back home ......

Great pub best about. If your looking for cheap quality beers this is the place to come. If your lucky and come in on the rare occasions the Viking Woody Ginger Beard is in you can relax beside the fire and listing to his complete codswallop. Tails from how he defeated the Scottish with only him and £27 pound he lent 8 months ago. Are my fav how he can do any job better then you.....bit amazing pub proud to call me local

It’s a bit of a tradition now for me and my partner to have a couple of drinks on a Wednesday afternoon. We normally kick off in here and enjoy our drinks in the little snug . This is one of my favourite pubs traditional and full of character, which provides free food on the counter including soup and pastries on a Wednesday. We have also visited On a fri and Saturday night for the live music 🤟.

We found the fat ox whilst on holiday in Whitley bay
We’d been in one pub and didn’t like it so decided to try the fat ox and were impressed with the feel of the place and the prices which were a lot cheaper than we’re used to. It was busy for a week day and had the atmosphere of a proper traditional pub
