We went to the landmark to see one of the live Shakespeare showings. The theatre is really cool and different. Was pleased to actually visit it after seeing it for many years. I thought the price was fair too. Unfortunately on the night we visited we were not able to get a drink or snacks ahead of the screening as there was only one staff member on the bar and too much demand. We were waiting for over 20 mins and still were not able to get served. It didn’t ruin it or anything, but it was a shame. We were able to get bits in the interval.

We went to the cafe which doesn’t seem to have a separate listing. But dog friendly inside and out. Wonderful food at a good price and friendly staff- to customers and helping each other out.

My comment is regarding the building, not the operation within . All I can say is that it completely ruins the area architecturally....what a hideous monstrosity ! It resembles power station cooling towers ,and frankly the designers and planners who conceived and passed this eyesore should hang their heads in shame .

As a family of four we went to see Terry Seary’s Twisted Tales.
Great entertainment & well put together performance.
The only disappointment was there were only about 35 people in the audience. Come on North Devon, if you don’t support your local live theatre you’ll lose it!
Viewing excellent. Parking was easy. Drinks & ice creams were good. Tickets were a reasonable price - family of four for under £60 - for live theatre.
What a pity people can’t be bothered to attend.

Under no circumstances should dogs be allowed into the cafe where people are eating. I was very surprised to see them.
Secondly, there is a very nasty little camera at the entrance. When you look into it, the words 'No Mask' appear. This invasion of privacy is unacceptable.

I always have expectations that exceed the reality here. This place should be a thriving arts centre. But somehow it misses the mark. A cafe selling healthy salads, good coffee and homemade cakes is called for on a site like this. For inspiration check out places like Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff or more locally The Plough in Torrington. Instead the cakes (wrapped in clingfilm) look really processed and the drinks are just about OK. 4.40 for a pint in a plastic glass seemed a bit overpriced. It would be good to get a better cup of tea than Twinnings. How about marketing local products more? I appreciate that Covid measures in England have changed but we were also taken aback by how this was managed in the theatre. Every seat booked and no ventilation. I certainly would not have stayed if I had not been watching a family member in a production. This is not a reflection on the staff who I am sure are doing the best they can in these difficult times. The view is great from the back of the cafe. The toilets need sorting out urgently.

A busy place with nice outdoor seating, nice when it's sunny. Service was a bit slow but we weren't in a hurry. Prices were reasonable.

After searching everywhere in Ilfracombe for somewhere to have a quick coffee, we ended up here at the cafe. Due to COVID, we had to wait to be seated and the member of staff who clearly saw us made no attempt to engage with us and tell us he’d be with us soon. The decor was dated and the atmosphere dead. For the toilets, a code was needed but the toilets themselves were absolutely minging. The smell was disgusting, thank goodness we had to wear a mask.

We visited the cafe at the theatre to warm up after being chilled by cold wind. The staff were friendly and prices OK. We needed a code to use the toilets.
As for the building itself.......I had seen it before and remember the controversy when it was built. However.....our friend on seeing said "Why are there pottery kilns on the Prom?" . She may well ask! Still a dreadful eyesore.

This place exudes a lack of thought and planning. It is as if it has been laid out to ensure your experience will be minimalised. True, it is not helped by the covid19 measures, which are good by the way, but the organisation is appalling and with or without these measures, this establishment is always going to be depressing. It is a café “plonked” in a big space with a minimal amount of effort applied to make it welcoming. The drinks/food are mediocre and so is the service. This is a place to go when everywhere else is full!

when will there be any shows there again?
According to local news: "North Devon Council has passed an urgent decision to enter new theatre contract with Parkwood Theatres". The previous theatre provider, North Devon Theatres Trust, went into administration in January 2017. Both the Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple and the Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe were shut immediately.
"Parkwood Theatres may take on North Devon theatres 'very soon' says council".
