We visited for the Xmas light trail. Some stunning light effects (albeit half the lights in the 'enchanted forest' weren't working) but the trail is pretty short for the price of the ticket - £20 for adults. Don't waste your money either on an £8 car park ticket as there is plenty of much cheaper or free parking the same distance away.

Be aware too that it's very muddy after any rain so dress accordingly.

STARGAZING EXPERIENCE.
Very expensive at £30 per ticket.
We had been keeping an eye on the weather all week and were expecting the event to be rescheduled to the 14th as the forecast had been showing cloud for a number of days, the 14th Oct was showing light broken cloud.
It was therefore very surprising to be informed that the event was to go ahead, They obviously knew something that we did not.
Upon arriving at Cowdray Park we found that the night sky was cloudy and very little could be seen apart from the odd star shining for a few seconds, during the evening the night sky went from bad to worse.
While we understand that the weather can change at the last minute we had been forewarned for nearly a week that the evening sky was going to be cloudy, even the temperature was suggesting that it would not be a clear night.
At £30 per ticket more consideration should have been given to the weather and event, standing in a field for two hours with nothing to look at is not much fun, and I know that a number of other people were not happy that the event had not been rescheduled. With nothing to look at the evening became amateur night, we were not offered an apology, rescheduling of the event or a refund for what had become a non-event.

Free parking so we took advantage. We walked down to the old ruined house. A lovely area for a walk & picnic. Visited the cafe & very nice staff.

This review is for Broomhill holiday cottage at Benbow Pond. We stayed for a week which gave us time to properly relax in the cottage and surrounding area.
Broomhill has a large kitchen diner and living room giving plenty of space for cooking or sitting on the sofas without feeling cramped. The main bedroom has a double bed with large en suite with a bath, whilst the twin bedroom is slightly smaller with an en suite which has a shower.
We asked to have the twin beds put together to make a bigger bed as the main bed is a standard double. Thanks to the ladies in the office and Debby and her team for doing this as it meant moving things around in the bedroom to accommodate our request.
The cottage was very clean and tidy and we had no concerns about the potential risk from COVID.
We did have a problem with the boiler not firing but within an hour of contacting the office we had staff on site to fix it. When we returned from our day out it had been resolved and the issue did not occur again.
The cottage has both underfloor heating and radiators. We had to turn the underfloor heating off as it was too hot with both running so that might be a mid-winter luxury.

However, the cottage did have a few small issues with decoration which we have fed back to the management team hence the rating of 4/5. These should be rectified in the next few weeks.

The cottage is one of a group of four close to Benbow Pond. It was wonderfully quiet with no streetlight pollution. We had cloud every night which meant limited opportunities to look at the stars, but on a clear night it is undoubtedly fantastic.

All things considered, we had a very good week and will certainly return next year.

Having seen the estate walk in a recent Saturday Times we drove up to Midhurst to walk it. We parked by the farm shop and set off for a 7 mile walk around the perimeter which took in the golf course, the great oak, lime tree avenue, the copse, across the A272, along the river rother, past farms, castle ruins, Polo grounds and back to the car park where we visited to cafe. All in all a nice 2 hour or so walk. A bit muddy in parts but nothing that was difficult to navigate. A fairly easy walk too.

A most beautiful place to visit. The farm shop is excellent as is the gift shop and the cafe is well worth a visit.

We took part in the kitchen&garden tour which was excellent. Our guide Paul, dressed up in the costume of the era (despite the warm weather), was very knowledgeable and was an excellent teacher/speaker. He made the local history come alive with so many interesting details and I almost wished I had taken notes so I could tell friends or family on a next visit. The tour lasts approx 1 hour. The Tudor kitchen was far more interesting than I anticipated and the walled garden a delight. In earlier months it must look even more stunning than during mid September. Sadly the ruins are unsafe to see up close but we still were able to have a good look, albeit from behind a metal fence. The tour was very well organised, esp. with Covid-19 in mind: attention was paid to social distancing and hand sanitiser without this being obtrusive. After the tour, we followed the path past the ruin, along the playing fields to find the cafe and farm shop. Both well worth a visit! Midhurst itself is a pleasant little town so do explore its many little shops. It all makes for an excellent day out!

Many years since we have visited these ruins. Virtually deserted and really good light for photography.

Don't recall the ruins being fenced in but that may be a post covid-19 requirement.

Delightful and so handy for Midhurst eateries.
