Are accommodation was situated on part of Bodmin Moor near St Neot. It was so peaceful with spectacular views across the Moor. Had to be careful when driving anywhere in the car due to cattle which didn't move and stood in the road, the wild horses and the sheep. Take a trip to the peaceful Colliford Lake it's lovely on a sunny day.
Just beware of the sat nav as you don't know what lanes it will take you down.

Ruined mineshafts, petrified sinners, stone circles and smugglers' lairs studded across rugged moorland, Bodmin Moor has it all.

Bodmin moor is well worth a drive round on the winding country lanes, the rugged natural beauty is well worth a visit. If the weather is good then a walk on the Moor is a must!

Catching up with some reviews from a weeks holiday to North Cornwall in October2020.
We stayed in a holiday cottage in Altarnun which is just on the very edge of Bodmin Moor.
Throughout our week we visited and walked to Rough Tor/The Hurlers/Minions & The Cheesewring. It made such a diverse change too from coastal & beach walks.
Fabulous areas to explore. So much to see & explore. Beware though some of the roads are a bit scary !!!!!

The moor is not very big when compared to Dartmoor but it has some very good walks and historic sites such as the Minions Stone Circles, Brown Willy Tor (the highest point in Cornwall) when on a clear day you can see both the Cornish coast lines from the top. The Dreynes Bridge wood walk is very good and also gives a river-bank view as the River Fowey tumbles towards the Golitha Falls. On top of the moor at Bolventor is the famous Jamaica Inn the centre of the Du Maurier smugglers tale albeit worth a visit but it is commercialised. Dozmary Pool is another place to visit and also another good walk.

We drive up to the moors quite often for a walk with our 4 year old. We often drive towards Alex tor, park and then climb to the top. My little one loves it. Views are stunning. If you turn right before it to park, the walk is longer but more gradual. If you drive past it then turn right, the walk is much shorter but a little more steep.

Parked up near Minions and walked across the moor to the Hurlers Stone Circles. Fabulous views for miles around. There are 3 stone circles 2 of which have been re furbished and once again left you wondering what use our ancestors put them to.

This was like no other walk I have ever done. I had a hip replacement 8 weeks ago and managed this it was no problem soft underfoot and I climbed to the top of the rocks. The views are worth every second.

My girlfriend and I visited the Cotswold's and Cornwall in May 2019. We rented a car (2 ladies in early 60's) and wanted to see various aspects of the English countryside. Walking the Bodmin Moor was great. As 2 BBC fans, we wanted to get a sense of the windswept open moors. This trek did not disappoint. I would recommend a head band to cover your ears as the wind can be a bit stiff on the higher points of land. Beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. We had a great time and stopped to eat our bagged lunch when we reached the top of Brown Willy (highest point in Cornwall). Well worth the effort and not bad if you just take your time.

The Moor is a fascinating place to visit and has some brillaint walks.
We visited during the summer when the weather was mild and fairly good and pondered on the different world it presents during the winter for the wildlife, sheep, cattle and horses that we saw grazing happily.
It's a very interesting area to visit with great colourful views.
We really enjoyed the experience.
