we used to visit this place at least once a week when emma ran this place it was always clean and tidy and the food lovely.....but it has been taken over unfortunately by a couple of young people who obviously dont have a clue as to what theyre doing.
food takes forever to be served and the standards are just not good enough to sustain the business.
called last week to see its closed and being refurbished ?
why would you close a business in the height of the business season while the kids are off school and glorious weather - it could have made a fortune....surely youd close out of season and re-open while theres plenty of potential customers about ?
id like to think things are on the up when they re-open and we can enjoy a nice lunch in the sun again
good luck with your re-opening

We visited on Sunday 1st June 2014. This used to be a lovely park but it's had its fair share of ups and downs and is most definitely on a downer at the moment.

The equipment is still generally sound, though the zip wire was out of action when we visited due to a pony being housed in that section of the park on our visit. I can't comment on whether this is permanent or not, but certainly not what you would expect. The grass within the play area was in desperate need of mowing - it was reaching the knees of the younger kids in the park. The solitary bin was overflowing. The area between the picnic tables and the former open barn/shop resembled a tip with all sorts of old junk, etc piled up. A lovely view when you're sat enjoying the sunshine! There were old pallets, nails, etc in the trees next to the picnic area also.

While we were there, someone (from the farmhouse I believe) decided to ride a rather skittish horse in the carpark. I was quite worried that damage would be done to mine or another's car. Riding a horse so close to parked cars seems somewhat irresponsible.

All in all, a disappointment to see what has become of this once inviting park. When you think that a considerable amount of public money went into this venture, it seems almost criminal that it's becoming so neglected.

I am afraid this place needs some serious management overhauling!
The table were dirty, the chairs very dirty and floor needed a good clean.
We ordered 4 toasted sandwiches and were the only customers there, however they took over 45 mins to arrive!!! There were dirty plates from previous customers left on tables with no attempt to clear them away.
There was one polite young chap serving, but with no experience or customer service skills.
I don't understand how whoever now owns this place can't see the changes that need to be made.
It could be a little gold mine, if run correctly.
The play park for the children is very good, but the grass does need cutting.
Sorry I couldn't write anything more positive.

We visit the cart shed regularly and love the place and the food.
Foods good, well presented and value for money
The place itself is in a lovely setting in the middle of the northumberland countryside (what more can you ask for)
Cart shed had a great play area to occupy the kids for a while too
I could think of quite a few restaurants/coffee shops whose staff could take a leaf out of their books and treat their customers as respectfully as the girls in there do.
Recommend without hesitation...

I love The Cart Shed. It is great for the kids. It has an amazing Park which is free to use the café has a massive choice of ice cream and sweets to keep them happy too. The food is great and is all freshly made on the premises. The cakes and scones are so good and HUGE!! There are activities on from time to time such as pottery painting for kids and there are occasional music nights. In general it is a great place to be. Lovely atmosphere and nice friendly staff. It has always been clean and tidy when I have been there. It is worth a visit for sure.

We visited today after hearing good reviews about the play area. We were very disappointed in the visit and didn't stay long. The play area was very good, good quality, things for all ages, even bigger kids, but it was scattered with litter because a waste bin at the entrance was overflowing! The toilets were dirty and there was no atmosphere in the cafe. The place has loads of potential but it was very quiet and you got the feeling the owners had given up and basic things were getting neglected.

My family visited The Cart Shed on a sunny Sunday for a snack and so the children could play. This is a great place, good service, lots to choose from on the menu and superb outdoor play park. We had toasties which came with salad and crisps, these were very tasty packed full of ingredients. The coffee shop inside is welcoming and spacious also offering classes pottery decorating etc. Well worth a visit even if you have no children, maybe for coffee and cake or a delicious ice cream. 10 out of 10

We called in here on Saturday 27th April. Its a really lovely converted barn and the coffee shop was warm and inviting - we had a cheese and pickle baguette (stuffed full of cheese, fresh crusty bread) and a ham and tomato melt pannini. The girls were really friendly and the service was efficient. We had a table in the window in the sun and had a good view of the children's play area. We were fascinated by the equipment and had to have a closer look - it was amazing! Pity we hadn't any children with us. The garden ornaments for sale outside the cafe were good value too. We don't usually travel this way to go to Warkworth, but will do in the future. Definitely worth a detour!
