This was my first time here and it was awesome! We came here for the splash pad, and we were not disappointed. The man-made lake is really warm, and the splash pad is legendary. I would recommend this place to families with kids.

We enjoy taking our 2 girl's fishing here. The park offers very nice paved trails and a large playground. Also a beautiful spot for a picnic. The beach area is nice, but there is a fee to enter that park. The huge splash park makes it worth it for familys with small children. No pets in the beach area. All in all, a nice park nestled away in Grand Rapids!

Me and my daughter were looking for a different place to walk. Found this place. Lots of walking trails, all paved. There are several playgrounds, beach ( which was closed along with the boat rental) The trails take you by several ponds, some with look out spots. We were surprised to find so many monarchs on the flowers. We will be back!

Millennium Park is just minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, but feels like a world away. It is quiet, peaceful, and clean. The water is warm and calm with a very gradual drop from shore to swim boundaries, making for a very family friendly wading and swimming experience. And for the really little kids the splash pad with dozens of fun water features will be a hit.

This park is a hidden gem! We rented paddle boats and it was so affordable and a beautiful area. Calm lake, great views. Nice staff! Will try the beach next time. Splash pad and park looked nice for younger kids!

My wife and I are training for a mini triathlon. The swimming area is great for our purposes. The staff there have all been helpful. There are also lot of trails for hiking and biking. Next year, we'll be purchasing a yearly membership. $25 each for seniors (63)

This park offers everything you want in outdoor activities. The most popular feature is the swimming area, complete with splash pad, play ground, volleyball, changing/bathrooms and inexpensive snack bar, or bring your own non alcoholic drinks and snacks.
Paddle boat and canoe rentals are also available and very inexpensive. If you're not going swimming, they have several pavilions for family reunions or get togethers, along with more playgrounds and public restrooms.
Miles and miles of bike/walking trails for roller blades, bikes, walkers, runners, pets on leash and nature lovers. Several designated fishing areas. Most recently my wife and I took our dog and we saw an Eagle's nest which is pretty rare, this far south in our state of Michigan.
It is well maintained and every year there seems to be more and more added. It would take more than a day to explore everything this park has to offer.
There is plenty of free parking. Pets are welcome with exception of the swimming area.

I had the privilege of being able to be there when Mary Free Bed Rehab Hospital therapists took three male patients fishing. Earlier the day was cloudy and cold but the sun was out in the evening when they were there. All three were in wheelchairs and enjoyed the excursion. The catch and release fish of the day were small bluegills and they caught several. Only down side was the ramp path and dock didn't have any bench seating for physically challenged folks who may need it.

Super place to bike! I started on the bike path at Johnson park in Grandville and bikes into and around Millenium park. Lotsa pons with waterfowl galore make this a neat place to bike around. Plus bridges, and overlooks, all amidst ponds and some isolated and working oil well derricks.
Biked a loop around the outside and the meadows, and was about 10 miles.
Also links into more biking paths north and south of here.

Is it likely to be crazy busy this weekend ( July 6-7)?
dadams6593
Kentwood, Michigan71 bidrag
If you're looking to reserve a shelter, those are most likely already reserved. The swimming-splash pad area will most likely be busiest, but not as busy as the state parks on Lake Michigan, such as Grand Haven or Holland State Park.
I've never experienced the park so busy they were turning people away if that is your concern.

Is there a shelter area to stay dry for a group of approximately 110 children to have lunch in case it rains outside?
KentCountyParks
Grand Rapids, MI4 bidrag
Hi there! Yes, there are two shelters (“A” and “B”) that are available for reservations made at least two weeks in advance. These rent for $175 per day. In the beach area there’s also a shelter that is available first-come first-served and we have a first-come first-served shelter in the main park area as well. We have a map of the park showing shelter locations on our website. Just search for “Millennium Park Michigan” in your browser. Please let us know if you have any further questions!

You'll find a map and other info on the park's webpages. Tripadvisor won't accept links in a post, but if you just search for "Millennium Park Michigan" you'll find it.

Is the park open year round?
KentCountyParks
Grand Rapids, MI4 bidrag
The park trails are open year-round but many of the park's facilities are not. The beach area and boat rentals open a little before Memorial Day weekend and close a little after Labor Day. Our bathrooms are unheated, so they are closed from November through April to prevent pipes freezing. The main parking areas on both sides of Maynard Ave. also close from November through April. There are two year-round parking area though. One is at the trailhead at the north end of the park, at O'Brien and Butterworth. The other is a small designated year-round parking lot in the Meadows area, on the east side of Maynard Ave.

Our your picnic areas marked so we can the rest of the family ? Is there a picnic area near the splash area
so we can keep track of our little ones ? Their will be about 25 of us !

There are no picnic areas within sight of the splashpad. The splashpad is within the fenced beach area at the park. There is one first-come, first-served picnic shelter within the beach area, but it's at the other end of the beach. There is an admission charge to enter the beach area, and you can get wrist bands allowing you to come and go during the day. Outside the beach, we have two picnic shelters (A and B) which are clearly marked and signs direct people to them. These are reservable and during the summer they are pretty much booked and unavailable on Saturday and Sunday. There's also a smaller picnic shelter (the "Family Shelter") that's available first-come, first-served, like the one in the beach area. We also have six or seven groupings of about three picnic tables and a grill scattered around the recreation area. These are all first-come, first-served. They are not labeled and there are no signs directing people to them.

Can I use my own kayak?
KentCountyParks
Grand Rapids, MI4 bidrag
No, private boats are not allowed on the lakes at Millennium Park, mainly to protect the lakes from invasive species. We're not allowed to post websites here, but you can google millennium-park and go to the "boat rentals" link on that page. In the lower right you'll find more info on private boats and invasive species.
Can i bring a bbq pit to grill
KentCountyParks
Grand Rapids, MI4 bidrag
Sorry, no. However, there are lots of grills scattered around the recreation area of the park and a few in the beach area. If a grill is right next to a picnic shelter then it's reserved for the group using the shelter (if any), otherwise grills are first-come first-served. If you're having an event at the park and have reserved a picnic shelter, special arrangements may be possible.
