Great spot to find snow without having to drive too far. Don't go in anything but a 4x4 when it's wet, as very slick and slippery! Not much up there though for the general traveller except a quick view over the hills. Limited parking and basically no facilities.

The lookout not the easiest to find but worth the effort you can see for miles on a clear day the tree stump was a nice suprise on our way to the top

Came up 4WD track from Barwidgee (Myrtleford) which was exciting for our 8yo granddaughter. The last track (Mt Stanley Jeep Track) was steep but had just been graded so was relatively easy altho soft sand/dirt. Definitely need high clearance 4WD for that part - we had Toyota Prado so OK. Excellent views on clear day from summit looking east over Mt Feathertop & Razorback Range. From fire tower looking west was also great.

Not a very well signposted attraction. Follow the mount Stanley rd and you will eventually see the transmission towers of Mt Stanley.
The drive can be a bit palm sweaty at times with a very large drop off on one side. Take the drive slow and you will be fine. There is a picnic table at the top to enjoy the views over to the snow capped mountains

Beautiful 360 degree view. Maybe able to see wild life and birds. No recommended in a rainy day. Big area for kids to run and play and what ever activities you like.

The drive to Mt Stanley is pleasant on gravel roads, the view at the top is 360 degree impressive! The mount is home to a fire lookout and communications tower. Limited parking, a picnic table but no other facilities.

We visited on a clear cold day. We could see as far as the snow capped peaks of Kosciusko in NSW and the snow capped peaks of Mt Feathertop, Bogong, Hotham and the rocky crag of Mt Buffalo as well as views way past the Glenrowan Gap and to the distant horizon in all directions. The turn off Mt Stanley Road is easy to miss. it goes off to the right just 1km after you leave the bitumen. the road could be impassable in wet conditions as it is mostly clay based, but the road is easily accessible in an ordinary sedan. The reward ifs the view. and the silence. on the day we were there, there was one other couple and a wedge-tailed eagle soaring above. wonderful. Most travellers are unaware of the lookout existence. Well worth a side trip.
