Went here on Sunday (17 Jan 21). Had fed in Tungareshwar National Park on Google Maps, and reached nowhere! Just when I was disappointed and about to turn back, a man appeared. He asked me if I reached there because of Google Maps. I said yes and asked him how did he know. He said Google sent him! Google Maps has advanced so much, it's sending humans to help fellow humans out!

Back to the trek - he guided us to a place 4 kms further. We got there. The road to the lead up was extremely narrow. And to make matters worse, an aunty wasn't able to take a u-turn. A friend helped her. And we were on our way. We parked outside some random house and started our walk to the entry gate. The manager/caretaker told us that the trek from this end is useless, but we ignored him. He told us to take the other entry (from the Western express Highway), but we ignored him. Why? Because that aunty who couldn't u-turn got there with her group of friends and told us to walk with them.

We did. And we walked up for 2 hours. Saw hand pumps. Used them. Sat somewhere random and appreciated the view (which wasn't a view) and started our journey back down.

That's when things changed. We spotted a random man - sent by a tech company which didn't want to be named. He said that he read one of our chats to a family member which read - Waste of a Sunday morning, wish I'd slept instead. He said he didn't want it to be a waste and took us to a secret path. This was awesome. We could see all of Bombay and a bit of Daman too. A boring Sunday morning turned to a great Sunday afternoon. He also arranged for biryani and beer. I told him that beer on a trek isn't the best suggestion because we need to walk back down. He laughed and pointed towards an escalator! So, we ate, drank and took the escalator back down to a place just 145 mtrs away from our cars.

aug. 2019 • Venner
It was Saturday Weekend and I want to make the Weekend Memorable, So I had thought about this place prior before Monsoon Starts
but due to lack of Work issues It was delaying But Finally, I got the chance luckily before Monsoon .So I get set to Explore this Nature Freak place TUNGARESHWAR,
one of the best and Adventures places to trek In Monsoon.
You can reach here by Auto or bus, the bus will drop you till down gate near the highway from there you have to climb upwards, but Auto will more Convenient and affordable because its drop you upwards till Bappa Sitaram Mandir which is the starting point of Tungareshwar way and takes 150rs fare from Vasai east station.from the starting point, you will come to another Gate which is an Entrance a few steps ahead..there you have to pay charges to enter 48rs for a single individual and for college students they provide discounts. from the point, it takes around 45-60 mins of walking distance to reach up till Shiv'ji temple. After Entering you will come across many beautiful attractions to
explore small ponds, small lakes, and small waterfalls it's a complete forest tracking, exploring beautiful and overwhelming Greenary of nature, you can find Many Monkeys hanging on trees on your way to temple. It's a complete photography place so you can capture each and every moment on your way.
once you visit on the top You can find Many foods and sweets Stalls run by locals.there is a small garden to rest and kids to play near Entrance,Shiv'ji Temple is a center of attraction its a very famous and old temple people from all over Mumbai especially come here to Worship lord Shiva,to the right side of Temple, there is a place where you can find this heavy force waterfall from the top of Huge Rocks looks amazing its the best place to refresh with outstanding view near the waterfall. the place is a bit slippery filled with different sizes of rocks so walk carefully while going near Waterfalls.
The overall place was just awesome filled with Adventure and Nature trecking Experience with beautiful Attractions, will visit again next year.

Good forest. Rough road. Variety of birds. Some human pigs - apologies to pigs - littered in the forest.

A nice hike on top of the Tungareshwar Hill
aug. 2017 • Venner
Our office colleagues decided to go hiking to the hills. I for one wanted some closure so decided to tag along. We took rickshaws from the east end of Vasai Station and arrived at the foothills. Be aware that hill is not steep and you can enjoy the hike while admiring the forest, streams, cascades and the panoramic view of Eastern Vasai and Virar region as well as view the Tanasa river and the nearby Ganeshpuri and Vajreshwari hot water springs.

During your hike you will come across wonderful views of the surroundings and at one point be with the clouds. Beware of insects and mosquitoes and pack a insect repellent along with your gear. We started hiking at 9:30 am and reached the peak at around 12:30 pm where you are greeted by the Balyogi Shree Sadanand Maharaj Ashram gate. A welcome sight for the weary travelers the attendants in the ashram offer you a invigorating cup of herbal tea which you can savor while checking out the monkeys entertaining you with their antics. The ashram also lovingly offers you a free lunch which is basically dal and rice which you may or may not have. Walking down is a breeze but not during the rainy season as you may slip and fall, so be careful.

To sum it up. Hiking the Tungareshwar Hill is a nice experience with a group of friends, admiring nature and getting a birds eye view of the nearby region not far away from Mumbai. Take a nice bath in the numerous streams and cascades during the monsoon. A word advice; don't venture the trail in seclusion and stay in a group and you will enjoy the sanctuary to the fullest.

A beautiful forest close to Mumbai
aug. 2017 • Par
Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is too beautiful a forest very close to Mumbai. Its highest point is about 660 meters above sea level and is pretty windy there. Look for small animals and insects, butterflies and caterpillars. Good in all season. Do please post on social media the importance of saving these beautiful forests.

The sanctuary of Tungareshwar is connected to National park. There are some wild animals which are open. The place is dangerous to visit for visiting in nights and with lesser number of peoples.

This place is also covered under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The region has some wild beasts in the open. But they do not come in the public and cause harm to people. This place is a sure to do for nature lovers with safety and caution. Risk is not always good to take.
