Targui tour is a very reliable agency.
I contacted Salim to organize a trek for me family, Salim's return was very quick and reassuring. Upon arrival Salim received us well he takes us to the hotel the next day we started the trek with Hassan , Mokhtar , Abderrahmane et al they soft brought in magical and breathtaking cities. During the trek the contract with the guide Hassan the cook Mokhtar and the drivers Abderrahmane and Ali were beautiful and fraternal they are super kind and attentive. We left Djanet with Plain of Stars in our eyes.
Thank you very much to the team.
I will return inchallah on Djanet

Incredible experience, the landscapes are extraordinary. A total disconnection that does a crazy good. The places chosen by the agency are more beautiful day after day. Regarding food, we have better food in the desert than at home in France 😅. Many thanks to Salim, Latif and Abdallah. We'll come back with the family.

Salim (Tărgi Tours owner) arranged all the necessary Djanet details for the trip. All worked very well. We were fortunate to find him. Prior to contacting Salim we had a less fortunate experience with another local agency which stopped communicating with us.
We traveled to the deserts with his brother Abdel who has a very good command of English and a very bright Inquisitive mind. It was a joy to have him around and talk to him. Together with us we had a knowledgeable, reliable, flexible and joyfull guide Elhassen and a very attentive cook who pleased us with his skills and sensibilities to our culinary preferences by the name of Joseph. In Tadrart Rouge we had an excellent driver Ahmed, who strived to show us the most possible within our available time.
We had a wonderful desert experience in Tasilli and Tadrart Rouge where we mange to see more than we could have expected -the amazing various landscapes and rock paintings. With our four companions we had a lot of good laughs interesting conversations, sing alongs and learned a lot about the local culture.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TĂRGI TOURS!

An unforgettable experience in Tadrart rouge: 5 days of camping, observing rock carvings and formations, climbing dunes for sunsets, stories and tea around the campfire. The atmosphere was simply wonderful. We changed sites for lunch and camping at night – it's a beautiful region with its ever-changing landscapes. There was plenty of time to relax.

Pitching our tents was quick and easy. We brought our own sleeping bags but were given extra blankets and a simple mattress.

We organised the trip with Salim, who always responded quickly and helped us with a visa. His brother Abdlouahab guided the tour, an absolute gem who's also fluent in English. Our crew also consisted of two drivers and a cook, everyone was really lovely and we enjoyed hearing their stories. I enjoyed teatime by the fire with them the most. And the explorations on foot – I would have liked a bit more of that, besides all the driving to the main sights. We mentioned this to our guide after a few days and went on several nice walks with him.

Note: that the hotels before and after the tour are not included in the price, even if they are listed in the itinerary, but Salim made the reservations on our behalf. We also appreciated that he picked us up from the airport and brought us back.

All in all, I can highly recommend Targi Tours. It was a trip we will remember for a long time.

An excellent 5 day tour of the desert with one day either side in Djanet. Great crew and translator, we all got on really well. They opened up the history of the Sahara and the various changing landscapes to us which really fired my imagination.

We were met at the airport and escorted for the entire trip.

Salim and our translator Abdlouahab both speak perfect English and are warm and very friendly - great guys! I think it also helped that one of our party can speak both Arabic and French which made it easier to connect with the other crew members and made for a more enjoyable, memorable time.

Food was ok: it didn't agree with me so well but I was willing to live with it because, well, you're camping in the desert. I should mention the Sahara tea was excellent and I looked forward to it every day.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

The experience of the Sahara is unique and unforgettable. The desert has many personalities and it will refresh and reset you in a way you perhaps could not imagine.

There is a serenity in the desert that had a healing effect on me, the kind of peace that only wilderness can bring. For instance, standing in silence and then hearing the feathered whip of a bird's wing around my head as it chased insects on the cusp of a red dune brought me great happiness.

Being alone with your thoughts at twilight, sharing stories around the campfire, having a morning movement behind a dune - these are simple pleasures that you should take time to enjoy.

Camping in a desert without light pollution means you never saw so many stars. Seeing rock art from c. 8000 years ago puts you in touch with our human ancestors in a profound way. Also, one of the lads gifted me a big stick that he found at one of our camp sites and I loved walking around with it, imagining I was Moses or Peter O'Toole.

Seeing the Sahara like this is a once in a lifetime experience.

Targi Tours is a family-run business and they really looked after us. Thank you guys!

I had contacted three agencies, and Salim from Targi Tours was the first, fastest, and easiest to communicate with. Customer-oriented and solution-focused. So the choice was obvious.

In Djanet, my friend and I were properly received by Salim, and our stay at Hôtel La Grotte des Ambassadeurs was well-arranged. An excellent hotel, by the way, with air conditioning in every room, a simple but good breakfast, and mineral water always available.

On the first day, we explored Djanet and its surroundings with Targi Tours, including the impressive 7000-year-old rock engravings of the crying cows, and we experienced a beautiful sunset.

On the second day, we ventured into the desert, accompanied by a cook. The car was well-packed with a driver, cook, translator, and the two of us. We saw fantastic rock drawings and a great variety of nature. Beautiful routes and both rugged and lovely spots. Lunch was served just after noon and consisted of delicious couscous, a nice fresh salad, an incredibly tasty melon, and delicious grapes. We sat comfortably in the shade of the rocks, but since we had just arrived, we wanted to continue and asked the translator (whom we initially thought was in charge) if we could move on because we wanted to see much more that day.

This turned out to be a difficult question, and the answer was that the driver would first rest and then drink tea. More than surprised that apparently not we, but the driver was the customer, I said I would wait another hour, but then I wanted to drive again. That hour passed, we were completely ignored, and another hour went by before the driver made moves to continue. We hadn't counted on a lunch of more than 4 hours.

Later contact with the boss of Targi Tours revealed that during the trip, the driver is in charge, so definitely not the customer. Keep that in mind. At night, we stayed in the hotel.

The following days, we were supposed to go into the desert and stay overnight there. In consultation with Targi Tours, we decided to visit the farthest point from Djanet first. There we stayed overnight in a small campsite with some huts and a large central hut where meals were served. The journey, the grilled chicken bought along the way, and the visits to the sights were fantastic.

The next day, we traveled back towards Djanet, which would take us two days. By then, I had stomach and intestinal issues. As in the previous days, we asked if there was enough mineral water. We were constantly assured that there was. When we stopped at the only village we would encounter, we were at a shop where they sold 1.5-liter bottles of mineral water for a few cents. We asked again if there was enough on board. Yes, we were assured, more than you can drink. The food quality gradually decreased. We stayed in tents that the crew had brought. There were no towels, nor clean linen sleeping bags in which you could possibly sleep. There were a few old, falling apart pillows and something that looked like a sleeping bag.

The next morning at breakfast, dried-out pieces of baguette were served, some of which still had food remnants from the previous evening. Our confidence in the provisions and cook decreased. My friend asked for a new bottle of water and noticed that the cap was loose but didn't pay further attention to it. With the next bottle we asked for, it became clear. There was no mineral water left, and we were given old water bottles filled with local drinking water by the cook. Fine for them to drink, but for us, it could easily spoil another few days with stomach and diarrhea complaints because we're not used to it and because it's completely unclear if the bottles were even cleaned. We then decided to cut the trip short and return to Djanet. The following days, we made day trips.

Conclusion:

Targi Tours communicates quickly and easily
The nature, rock paintings, and local population are unforgettable and impressive

The driver knew the desert like no other, chose beautiful routes, and drove well. Moreover, he occasionally played delightful Tuareg music, accompanied by the incessant dialogue between the cook and the driver. Don't forget, the driver also seemingly does not find it necessary to arrive or leave at agreed times.

Our guide (translator) tried very hard but hadn't told us the truth about the drinking water; trust in the cook had dropped to a minimum. As soon as I was in Djanet and careful with the cook's salad, I quickly recovered from my food poisoning. I suspect the cook doesn't bother to wash the salad with bottled water.

The feeling that we were more of a nuisance than customers for the cook and driver ran like a red thread through the trip
The farewell illustrated this perfectly. The cook and driver didn't even bother to get out of the car and say goodbye to us; we took that initiative ourselves

Do I regret the trip with Targi Tours?
Of course, we experienced everything from our perspective, but in all African countries I've traveled to, I was always a customer and not cargo.

Yet, I don't regret it. I'm convinced that Targi Tours understands what minimum standards are, that they are trying to improve, and I hope that his driver and cook will also realize that it's not just about them, but it is also about the customer.

If I go to this incredibly special area again, I will definitely contact Salim first and try to make proper arrangements. I now know what to ask for and I am sure Salim will do his best to take his service and safety for his customers to the next level.

I contacted Targi Tours on instagram just a few days prior to the tour, so I made a very last minute request, but Selim responded almost immediately and made it happen! The flights to Djanet from Algiers were selling out, so my only option for the tour was 13-17th June, which meant that the last day was over the Eid holidays. Most other tour companies did not operate during this time, however Targi Tours still went on for that day, and I was even invited to celebrate with Selim's family when we got back to Djanet for the evening! I was taken care of from the moment I arrived in Djanet airport to departure.

The tour itself was spectacular - I did a 4 night tour based on my flights to and from Algiers, and I didn't have enough time in Algeria to do more anyway. For me this was a good amount of time to see the incredible nature of Djanet, although with a 7-10 day tour you can go to the west and east of Djanet as they both have different landscapes. I initially planned the tour to go to the Tadrart Rouge region to the east of Djanet, however the day I arrived the military apparently blocked access to this area for tours, so instead we went to the west side - which was still other worldly! Unfortunately Algeria is still full of unpredictability like this and I really hope they can stabilise to help the tourism industry, as most tourists don't want plans to be changed.

Selim spoke perfect English and he joined the tour which was great fun! In total there was myself, Selim, Suni the driver and Esa the chef (I am sure I spelt those wrong!). They were always laughing together and it was a great vibe with them all. We had breakfast every morning, drove around to some sights, stopped for a long relaxed lunch, drove to some more sights and to the sunset/camping spot and then had dinner. This was a nice daily schedule at a good relaxed pace which is good for the desert, especially the summer! We listened to a lot of local Tuareg music, drank a lot of the Tuareg tea and generally experienced the Tuareg way of life which is the main experience!

Everything was supplied so you don't need to think about anything, the food by Esa was amazing and got better and better each day, and it was great fun watching all the process involved in making the tea! And my favourite part was the stargazing once that sun goes down, you never get bored of that!

Hugely recommended experience and don't be afraid to go in June :)

Having sympathized with Salim in March 2023 (Circuit 15 days Iherir Valley
with POINT-AFRIQUE), I had agreed to deal with him directly this year
and to carry out 1 circuit of 15 days in Tadrart from March 16 to 31.
And found 5 friends motivated by this camel trek east of Djanet,
area that Salim knows very well.
In January we had reserved and paid for JQ Roissy train tickets and Paris-Algiers-Djanet plane tickets. Then sent (2 months before departure) by email to Salim all the administrative part necessary for arrival at the airport. Djanet, i.e. our 6 deferred visa requests (= boarding authorization at Roissy WITHOUT VISA on DEPARTURE).
Time passed, 1 month before departure no news because Salim was in deserted support...on his return he told me to wait for the response from the supervisory authority
then left for 15 days with 1 other group.
On March 1st, he returned to Djanet and told me he was still waiting for the visa from Algiers.
and, remaining 2 weeks in Djanet, do what is necessary and not worry.
On D-10 a new WhatsApp exchange: visa applications still not returned
completed...despite its relaunch. Other local guides in the same situation...
D-3 nothing, nada!!! Salim talks about going to Algiers because he has many clients in the same situation and therefore large losses of income as a result.
D-2, still nothing...we cancel our trip because IMPOSSIBLE to board the Air Algérie plane WITHOUT this official certificate...
I STILL NOTHING...big bitterness and indescribable anger.
In order to obtain a refund for the air fare, I asked him for 1 official document from his agency to certify the non-receipt of the deferred visa.
END OF NOT RECEIVING THE PRETEXT THAT HE CANNOT ACCUSE HIS MINISTER!!!
CONCLUSION: Targi tours is Salim alone, very good guide but zero in administration.
IF YOU JOIN IT ALREADY HAVE YOUR VISA FROM THE CONSULATE NEAR YOUR RESIDENCE, otherwise...POINT AFRIQUE VOYAGES NO DIFFICULTY OBTAINING THIS DOCUMENT.
