My wife and I visited this place during our recent holiday in Dandenong Ranges where we stayed for two nights in a holiday cottage in Olinda.

Set under the canopies of large Mountain Ash Trees, this cool climate garden has magnolias, rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas, fuchsias and hydrangeas.

The grounds are around 2.4 hectares (much smaller than some of the other gardens that we have visited), so we walked across all the walking tracks to explore the entire place. The lovely autumn weather and the colours of autumn leaves enhanced our enjoyment of our visit.

This garden, some 2.4 HA at 440 Metres high was first purchased by a Captain Pallant in 1893 and had various owners until purchased by George Tindale,a Research Scientist and his wife Ruth in 1958 and expanded to what it is today, a beautiful mix of European amid Australian Mountain Ash.

This was a really nice quiet garden. Beautiful to walk around. An amzing selction of trees including a Monkey puzzle tree. However it need some maintenance and upkeep. Looks like a lot of funding has been removed which is a shame! l really hope something can be done but it is still worth visiting!

Have you ever visited the delightful, Hancock's Daffodil Farm during their 4-week festival? It was our spring bloom starting point and only a 10-minute drive from Menzies Creek to George Tindale in Sherbrook. This free entry, small garden doesn't have the public profile of the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens (close by, so easy to visit both together), but personally, I find it more evocative and charming. Follow its meandering paths to enjoy its spring showing including an abundance of azaleas, daffodils, rhododendrons, romantic hellebores and cherry blossoms. We packed a picnic and settled our fold out chairs beneath the pastel, weeping tendrils of baby pink cherry blossoms that gorgeously rained down its petals when several excited ruby red Rosellas sucked out the blossom nectar. We dressed warm and put knee rugs to good use in our early September visit.

This is a beautiful small garden that is out of the way but a pleasant walk. It has a large bolder that will turn on its axis if you push it. Great for the family.

Wonderful history of this place with outstanding efforts of volunteers to keep it going. Some spectacular examples of hydrangea's and a bonus to see some lyre birds wandering around. The kids loved the maze of paths to explore

Just down the road from Alfred Nicholas Gardens is this gem of a spot to bring the family for a picnic. Never seems to be as busy as it’s neighbour but it’s worth checking out. I always visit as well as Alfred Nicholas

If you enjoy a nice quiet walk amongst a wide variety of beautiful flowers, definitely give these gardens a visit. My wife and I visited a couple friends in the Melbourne area, and they took us here one of the days. It did not disappoint, and I took loads of pictures. It was very peaceful to walk around the well maintained paths and just take in the range of colors.
