Nice place for kayaking. Good to be able to park close to the water and have a paddle without crazy water skiers around. Beautiful

The track around Narrabeen Lagoon is about 8.5 km long and can be walked at an steady pace in about 2 hours. The track is across flat ground for its whole distance, and while surfaces underfoot vary from gravel to paved sections and stretches of boardwalks, it is all easy walking. For me, the highlights are walking through the remnant littoral rainforest, the near constant views of the lake, and the abundant birdlife. Not surprisingly, there plenty of waterbirds like cormorants, pelicans and black swans, but you might also see bush birds like fairy wrens, willie wagtails and king parrots. The track does follow busy Wakehurst Parkway for some km, but there is bush between the road and track to help buffer the traffic noise. (Plus, lovely views across the lake also take your mind away from the traffic.)
On the north side of the lake there is also a sidetrack that follows Deep Creek. On my last circuit of the lake my friend and I thought we would investigate this track. My advice: don't bother. We only walked it for about 400m beyond the Deep Creek Reserve and the bridge over the creek. The terrain was rough and the vegetation patchy and uninspiring, with stretches dominated by thickets of lantana. Dumped household rubbish didn't add to the appeal

Walking around Narrabeen Lagoon State Park is truly lovely bush walk which takes around 2-3hrs and is approximately 9km.
There are plenty of activities to do from swimming, canoeing, cycling, boating or fishing. There are a few access points including Jamieson and Berry Reserve with numerous picnic spots, playgrounds, sandy beaches and boating ramps.

Long walk and very pleasant day out...need good walking shoes. You can park easily and take your time to be in nature.

The mixed surface path circumnavigates the lagoon for a moderate level 8-9 km loop depending on your start and stop locations. I live nearby so ride there regularly, often going around twice in an hour. It's mostly flat and easy though there are a couple of tricky corners /sections for those that are not accomplished or confident cyclists. Mostly paved, some dirt and a large portion of elevated grates make for a good variation. There are numerous place to stop and rest if you need it or want to take in the views and serenity. There are drinking fountains along the way if you need water. It can be quite busy at times so it's not a place to ride full out if you're a strong and competitive rider, this is beginner territory, moderate if you have any kind of pace. The village of Narrabeen is borders the eastern portion so there are places to stop and a bite to eat or a coffee or if you need to get things, including a bike shop on Pittwater road. There are numerous places to park if you don't live nearby so there's no reason not to visit for a ride. BTW it can get muddy on the southern portion after rain so either be prepared or do an out and back on the remaining portions. Leashed dogs are popular and there's lots of walkers and families with kids so be aware and share the road.

This is an awesome place to visit and the new boardwalk us an enormous improvement servicing people for able bodies to those with disabilities which is wonderful for everyone to enjoy.

Enjoyed walking around the lake. It took me around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Beautiful scenery and a nicely constructed track.

We are biased, as we are locals, but the walk is fantastic. Easy 1.5 hour walk around the lagoon, great birdlife, and lots of spots for photos. Great for kids and adults.

Yes you can take your dog with you provided it is on a leash a tall times and you clean up after your dog should it take a 'comfort' break whilst on your walk.

Hi, yes it is possible to ride a bike. Quite popular! its about nine kilometres around. Many suitable places to park a car. Park in the carpark on pittwater Rd an then you are close to coffee shops and cafes afterwards
Hi, I have a Narrabeen Lagoon Trail question. We are from Interstate and attending a sporting event at Sydney Academy of Sport for a week in late September. We will be relying on public transport for our visit however have been told buses don't go directly to the Sydney Academy of Sport. We originally were told we could walk from the bus stop (Pittwater near Waterloo St) along the trail and onto Academy of Sport grounds however someone else has advised us the Academy of Sport grounds are not accessible from the trail. Could someone please advise if it is / isn't possible. Thanks so much for your help

I'm not sure if the answer unfortunately however I don't think the Academy is accessible from the trail because the surrounding houses on that side go down to the waters edge. If you are fit the Academy is not a long walk on the Wakehurst Parkway from buses that stop in Narrabeen. I will have to check this out for my own information! While staying there make sure to breakfast at the Boatshed cafe which is on the trail!
