My wife and I spent a nice couple of hours here as it's so much quieter than Southend beach. We had an area of beach to ourselves, which was nice. The only issue was that at low tide the water was about a mile out, so instead of swimming we were only able to sit in a little stream of water. Still refreshing and there were little fish, shrimp and snails in the water to keep us entertained.

The colourful beach huts are a lovely sight and were being used the day we visited. No food/drink stalls so take your own. You're a short walk from a lovely pub in any case.

We walked from Shoeburyness rail station, about five minutes. There's also a sizable car park right by the beach. A little gem.

I live in Shoebury, so I know East Beach well. I always wanted a beach hut, I never see the huts here used much at all - which is a great shame, so its great that one hut is now avaliable to hire in the summer for the day - especially when its 5 minutes away from my door. THANK YOU to the kind lady at Number 13 x x x

Disappointing beach full of dangerous bricks underfoot, very hazardous, and very little sand ...lethal for young children and dogs (loads of dog poo about too...ugh!). Went there for bbq but found out that Council have opened up ALL of Southend beaches to allow bbqs, so we headed off to Thorpe Bay instead. Much, much nicer. Clean sandy Bay, water great for paddling, much more private and none of the hazards of East Beach. If you want to bbq, try Thorpe Bay, Chalkwell Bay, Jubilee Beach instead...much, much nicer and more user friendly plus much more to see and do.

Visited on Tuesday 09th March 2021 Solo walk along Shoebury East Beach and Garrison Park. Adjacent to the new housing estate created from the old military buildings on one side and the active military base on the other beach and the green space behind it has picnic tables, bench seats and BBQ pits fixed around it. There is a sea wall with informative plaques detailing the beach and birds along with views across the estuary as well as the amazing cold war era ship barrier which starts at the beach and extends 2 miles into the estuary. The beach is high-quality sand and at low tide, you can walk out into the estuary some way on the sandy seabed. Car parks at either end are closed during the lockdown but people are parking on the access road on the military base side. Lots of dog walkers on the area behind the beach but limits on access to the beach for said dog walkers by local rules which are detailed on the signage for access to the beach. Public toilets and an excellent seapool for crabbing or paddling with youngsters. Not far from the end of the line station at Shoebury a nice place to visit and spend some time.

It's not Cornwall or Barbados BUT it is less than an hour from London by public transport and so easy for us city folk to get a nice walk along the beach. The beach is 2 minutes walk from the station and I was honestly pleasantly surprised. It's off season now so I only saw one or 2 other people walking dogs and it was such a bright nice dry day.

Unlike neighbouring southend it has sand even when the tide is in, it even has small grassy sand dunes. There is a small bit of shingle too but eh..there is a large grass common beside the beach so no traffic. Plenty of parking. The view out to sea is also nicer than the industrial view from southend. It is a small beach which gets a little longer when the tide is out. It has benches and picnic tables right on the sea front. Lovely views of the sunset.
Doesn't have the fishing cottages and charm of Leigh- on-sea, or the arcades and chip shops of southend. It's just rugged and quiet (although I imagine it gets busy and not as pleasant during the summer)

No cafes, toilets or tea huts open from October 1st so bring whatever you need... there is a small londis type newsagents on the road behind the common and a Chinese come chippy five minutes walk away.

Nice dog walk on a beach, the day before the second lockdown started, to eat my sandwich with a sunset view for like a tenner return .... And the travel is done in the same time it might take me to get to the west end and back.

Can't go wrong really.

Lovely afternoon spent here. It’s much quieter than Southend. You will need to bring your own food and drink as there was nowhere to buy anything, apart from the little village near by.
The tide can go out by more than a mile, so a long walk to the waters edge at low tide.
It’s quite soft sand, clay mix with a lot of pebbles.
Toilets are nearby, with a fresh water tap for rinsing off feet.
There are also bbq stations there, so you can set your bbq up and bbq away! Bring your own chairs, although there are loads of benches supplied on the grassy area.

Nice little beach , this picture was at low tide and there's no water apart from the kids pool and an occasional puddle. so check for when high tide is usually in the afternoon if water is what you want straight off.
You have to get past sharp shells and shingle to get to the sand. Highly recommend beach shoes especially for kids. - you have been warned !!
When the tide comes in, it's very fast. It's better to set up camp up on the grass if you have kids, rather than down on the beach as you'll have to move. There were guards doing the rounds advising people to move.
There is no shade, no trees, by the beach itself, bring an umbrella or mini pop up tent.
The facilities let it down, the toilets were rather minging. It would be nice to have an outside shower to rinse off and wash feet.
Plenty of parking at a reasonable fee, disabled parking is free. there are some trees in the parking area
There's a mobile snack bar and a few minutes walk away is a beach shop, bakery and local corner shop.
People nearby were having bbq's , we just had a nice picnic - pack away mess asap as the wasps will come hovering if you are a litterbug.

All in all, quite a nice beach and the water was quite warm and clean, not too much seaweed and whilst it was busy it wasn't heaving. This is one we'll go back to.

We enjoyed our day at East Beach shoeburyness, plenty of parking spaces just opposite the beach. With big toilets and loads of trees . There are some colourful beach huts as well. Most of all barbeques are allowed which is perfect for picnic. We arrive 10am and its still low tide untill 12pm when suddenly the high tide comes along . Well recommended only 45 minutes from Romford.
