A good slice of history.

A lovely view of Cornish history through the ages. Covering everything from flora & fauna to space travel. Worth a visit & entry fee to keep it available for future generations.

A welcoming place

Thank you for such a warm and friendly welcome you gave us when we returned to the museum today - keen to finish off the displays we'd not viewed a few days ago ... it really made our day!

We both enjoyed wandering around the museum, following a carefully organised one way system. The collections on show were interesting and set out in such a way that there was something for everyone.

Interpretation is just right - and the temporary exhibitions were very interesting indeed.

Covid security was excellent throughout and much thought has gone into making the area a safe space for all.

Thank you for SUCH a nice museum.

That our tickets are valid for a year is brilliant!!!

Fascinating glimpse into local history
jun. 2021 • Familie
Great way to spend an hour or so on a day trip to Truro.
Enjoyed rocks/fossil exhibits, art, ceramics, Egyptology, local history & a gallery showing artists” responses to isolation & confinement.
It would be handy to have a little guide (or an app) showing a plan if the layout & perhaps the highlights if you are short of time.
A beautiful light airy building with what looks tone a pretty café (but didn’t try the latter so can’t comment on that).
Staff were friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend a visit.
All the relevant Covid safety measures are in place so we felt safe and comfortable.

Museum with a lot hidden in its stores
jun. 2021
Visited RCM in June and kept ticket so a free return and worth it. The mineral collection is the biggest I know for Cornwall. There is also one (free) at Penryn campus. The museum as others has a large store of objects; I know having donated to it. I would like to see the upstairs galleries dedicated to rolling exhibitions of them. I have an interest in that, because of my finds and others that I know of. Wanted to subscribe; hence donate to pay for influence but the subscribe page on the website was not available. Graham Hill

Don't plan a visit this year, since the museum is closed until September.

Truro's museum has always proved an interesting and informative building in which to glean much of the history of the area. It has a magnificent collection of minerals too. How or why it has decided to close the doors until September I fail to comprehend, since there is no sign of pending reconstruction of this listed building. This is a necessary feature of the Truro landscape as well as being a most useful educational centre for young people of the area. An explanation from the Museum authorities should be provided.

Loads to see and learn about Cornish history, art, industry and its people. A stunning minerals room, some fantastic pottery and paintings. Friendly staff and thoroughly recommended if you are in Cornwall.

Unusually and unlike the cathedral this museum is not free to enter. We were offered a friendly welcome in the museum itself. There were a variety of interesting exhibits and we were able to see everything despite the school parties. All exhibits well explained and labelled. The cafe was full but we only wanted a sandwich which they didn’t appear to serve!

Cafe, art shop & museum
nov. 2019
Sadly the museum is currently closed for repair work but as they say about the V & A cafe, great cafe with rather a nice museum attached. Have been to the museum many times & the permanent collection is great as are the temporary exhibitions. Looking forward to the reopening. The cafe is on2 levels with 2 serving areas with good range of hot drinks & cakes & varied lunch menu. An additional bonus is the art shop at the back of the cafe which in addition to artists' materials has a great stock of unusual toys & games & stationery.

Trip to the museum

It's a museum, somewhere to visit on a rainy afternoon, but slightly disappointing, especially as the charge an entrance fee.
