Amaxing views even on a windy day, be sure to do the Healy Pass and drop in to Helen's bar in Killmacalogue....fabulous

The scenery is amazing and took about 2.5 hours. The Ring of Kerry is a full day so we opted for Ring of Beara and Ring of Dingle. The roads are especially challenging if you are driving yourself (we were). So take your time and be very cautious!

We were looking for an alternative to the touristic ring of Kerry. It was fantastic. So much too see. Beauty around every corner

We decided to tour the Ring of Beara instead of the Ring of Kerry and loved it! We drove south from Kenmare and took the Harbor Queen ferry to Garinish Island and then continued through Healy Pass which was our favorite part of driving through Ireland despite the tiny road. We also loved seeing the Uragh Stone Circle with the huge waterfall and lake behind it. Magical day!

We drove out the Beara Ring and cut up the Healy Pass. It was so less crowded than the Ring of Kerry, mostly because you won’t find tour buses venturing down these roads. I found the Ring of Dingle to be the best, with this being a close second. Careful on the narrow roads.

Our drive took about six hours from Kenmare. We mostly stayed on the "main" road and only made a few stops as most shops & restaurants were closed. Along the way, there are many beautiful vista's to take in, however sometimes it's a bit challenging to find a place to pull off.

If you plan on driving the Ring of Beara, I suggest you start early in the morning. It took us over 8 hours to drive it including a couple of stops. We were exhausted by the end of he day. There are beautiful viewpoints along the drive.

Thoroughly enjoyed our drive around this peninsula. Less busy than the Ring of Kerry but the views are absolutely outstanding. Worth the slight detour from Adrigole to the top of the Healy Pass.

What a wonderful treat this drive was. It was recommended to us from a B&B owner in Kilkenny. Totally worth your time.

One of the top highlights on the Beara Way is to spend a few hours on a boat sea fishing. We cannot reccommend highly enough BEARA BOAT TOURS. We joined Kevin and his dad Ger for a sightseeing/fishing trip from the little pier at Ballycrovane not too far from Eyeries. From the start teas and coffees were offered and if you felt woozy some lollipops were offered to help. It was an amazing trip. The guys are extremely friendly, informative, and hands on when you need help loading those fish on board! Yes we caught lots of fish and we left with them fileted and ready to cook. Top trip tip of the hidden Beara Way.

In welcher Richtung würdet ihr den Ring of Kerry empfehlen?
Rundreise:
Von Dublin die Republik zuerst nach NW und dann im W nach S und retour nach Dublin??? Oder andersrum?
Ich habe gehört, der W sei sehenswerter als der S, stimmt das?
Ich würde 12 Übernachtungen planen, Mietauto, Sehenswertes, keine Wanderreise

I just contacted my host, who is in Cork, and mentioned I had planned a day trip which included Gobnait, the Uragh Stone Circle, and Gougane Forest. He said I had too much planned because of the kind of roads upon which I would be traveling. Any thoughts?

I would say to do the whole Ring plus lunch and the odd stop allow a full day.

hallo, wieviel zeit habt ihr für die umfahrung der ring of baera und des ring of kerry gebraucht?

Wir sind den Ring of Beara von Bantry aus gefahren. Man braucht für den Ring selbst ungefähr 4 bis 6 Stunden, die längere Zeit, wenn man die Seilbahn nach Dursey Island noch mitnehmen möchte (nicht unbedingt ein "Must@). Für den Caha-Pass zurück nach Glengarriff würde ich dann nochmals eine Stunde veranschlagen. Bei schönem Wetter ein Highlight. Als B&B kann ich das Eden Crest in Bantry wärmstens empfehlen.
Für den Ring of Kerry würde ich einen ganzen Tag veranschlagen. Zum einen ist der ziemlich mit Reisebussen verstopft, zum anderen zeigen sich doch unendlich viele Postkartenmotive. Ich würde dann in jedem Falle die südwestliche Route am Ende nehmen und mir die Kerry Cliffs mit Blich zum Skelling Michael gönnen. Diese Route ist zwischen Waterville und Cahersiveen auch für Busse gesperrt. Ich würde auch hier 6 Stunden Fahrzeit veranschlagen, mich selbst auf dieser Strecke aber nicht unter Zeitdruck setzen wollen. Auch hier würde ich am Ende in Camp auf der Dingle-Peninsula das B&B Junction House empfehlen.

I do not know of a stables, but there might be one. Hiking definitely. It would probably be advisable to bring your own food.

We are "self" planning a trip to Ireland, 11 nights at the end of May and into June. We fly in Shannon and are getting a rental car. We had planned to stay in Glenbeigh and tour the Ring of Kerry, but I have been reading so much about the Beara Peninsula that I am about to change my mind. We like to hike and to ride, and we want to shop and eat and sightsee, as well. I am looking at Eyeries as our headquarters. Myself, my daughters, and my 8 year old grandson will be on the trip. Any suggestions?

Having been to both the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara, I prefer the Ring of Beara. On a clear day there are some absolutely breathtaking views during the drive. The Garinish Island was a wonderful surprise. It's a beautiful small island accessible by ferry.
Although we did not hike I do see a number of biking/hiking trails on the Ring of Beara map I brought home.
We based in Killarney for several nights and roamed out in different directions each day. It's about a 40 minute drive from Killarney to Kenmare.
I agree with the suggestion above to go to Dingle Peninsula too.
