The history is impressive, but even if that’s not your thing it makes for a nice easy hour or so walk. Well maintained paths and informative along the way.

Great area to visit. Good for walking - road is quite level and well maintained. Plenty of information regarding Marconi station which is very interesting.

The information points around the site are interactive and very well done. As well as reading about the history you can play sound recordings which really take you back in time.

Great insight into a wonderful innovator
Well laid out
Beautiful views..fascinating historical perspective
Amazing to think so much was built and then achieved on a boggy piece of land a century ago.
Most enjoyable walk.

Came to find the Alcock and Brown site but had the good fortune to find the remains of the Marconi Station. There are plenty of information boards at the various building remains which you pass as you follow the trail. It's just a shame there is not much more as this marks a pivotal moment in the history of modern communications but at least someone has made the effort. The pathway is well marked and firm but could be challenging in inclement weather, as its open big. Don't forget insect repellent.

We drove this portion of the Wild Atlantic Way specifically to see the Marconi site. Three years ago we visited the Marconi site in Nova Scotia, so visiting the Irish site was only natural. The parking area for the site is just off R341 between Ballyconneely and Clifden and the turnoff is well marked. The site itself is on a short walking loop, with a number of interesting history shelters along the loop. In addition, this site is where Alcock and Brown, the first aviators to successfully cross the Atlantic in 1919, crash landed.

What used to be the Marconi Station is now a beautiful area to walk through. The are little remains left of the old site mostly foundations. The former railtrack leads you to the several guidpoints telling you about the history of this former wireless telegraph station. The Alcock and Brown landing site is also on this location.
