Really enjoyed our stop here to walk around the lovely grounds. House is situated in a very picturesque setting and made for good pictures. Also enjoyed the tea rooms. Overall a lovely place for a walk and rest!

The period house has had extensive restoration work done & the guide was really good & witty. V enjoyable tour. Coffee shop was v g & great selection. Downside was the toilets. These are located near the play park & no soap or hand gel & cleaning was ??? No sign in the car park to tell you where they are & on whole signage not reliable.

Doneraile Court is a beautiful place. I was delighted to go back today having visited before in 2018. The grounds have lost none of their lustre and it's as tranquil as I remember from that first time.
There are a few different walks you can do of varying length but they are easy and the surface is well tarmacced.
Sone beautiful shrubs, flowers and trees, beautifully manicured lawns and bubbling streams plus a lovely lily pond.
The house has been totally renovated since my last visit but unfortunately during horse covid tines the tour is limited to very few snd it was booked out on our visit.
Oh well, till next tine!

Rescued from dereliction, this former St. Ledger property on 400 acres has been substantially restored on an ongoing basis. The ground floor is now complete and available for tours, whilst the upper level is a work in progress and not yet ready for viewing. What is on offer is well worth seeing and whilst the house was empty apart from paperwork and some furniture, it now has a lovely mix of furnishings, curios, artwork to educate and delight . Our very knowlegeable tour guide brought the whole place to life for our group with a clear historical perspective delivered with confidence, candour and wit. This is very much worth a visit, and the house and outbuildings are set amongst rolling parkland, water features, magnificent trees and a very pretty outlook; with well defined pathways for an easy walk.

Perfect day out for all the family. The house itself has received a wonderful makeover having fallen into a state of disrepair. Much credit to the Georgian society, the Irish State and benefactors for great restoration on a very worthwhile project. Great tour for history, art and architecture. For only €8 it is very worthwhile with a wonderful guide. A tea shop on the grounds with lovely food and staff. I can understand why families love the place. The grounds are simply beautiful. The whole family can walk and/or use their bikes. Tame deer and nature to entertain.

Recently visited Doneraile court & it was a fantastic house & tour. The guide Aideen was excellent & really had great knowledge of the house itself and the area around it. The parking can fill up quite quickly, but if you are you only going to the house itself I would suggest in parking in the town of Doneraile and walking in a lane way by Eilys Bar much more convenient. The tea rooms can close early which was a little disappointing as we had finished the tour and would have like to go for a cup of coffee. Overall, the house and tour is very interesting and while there is only one floor of the house opened at the moment I can't wait to go back and see the rest of the house when it is completed.

The house is only recently open to the public and at this point partially accessible to the public. It's a house that has been 'hung on to' by the efforts of the Georgian society and caretaker before being taken over by the OPW. It could so easily have been lost and affords a glimpse into the past where rates were prohibitive and income low. There is a lot yet to be discovered in the paperwork attached to the house which is archived elsewhere. Unfortunately many of the items on display are not belonging to the house but are of the time. I really appreciated how carefully many of the items on view had been in other great country homes in Ireland - a real eclectic mix. The restoration and conservation work is on going and Mary our guide was really interesting and well versed, so I know it will be a place we will revisit to see it's progress.

Fantastic to see the building open again after years of closure.
They've done a marvellous job on it and the tour with Alice was excellent. It's a tour of the ground floor, about seven rooms shown. My favourite was the library. Alice was professional and friendly and told us lots about the house, some of the occupants and the artwork. It took about 45 minutes.
Afterwards I went on a very pleasant walk on the grounds, there are a number of options. The Parterre Garden looks interesting but it was closed on the day I visited.

Hi, I am hoping to come to Doneraile Court with my family next summer. It will be thirty years since I was last there, as a gap year student. I came over and spent two weeks with the then manager of the property - Arthur - if memory serves. There were supposed to be other young people from other countries, but no-one else turned up, so it was just the two of us! Well, we had a blast. I restored some internal bells and did some window painting, as well as some grass cutting. We then we climbed into Arthur's tiny mini and careered around Cork. He took me to a great bar in the village where there were musicians jamming together in a corner. I also learnt how to make a proper Irish coffee!
My question to the current manager of Doneraile would be - would there be any possibility of seeing the inside of the house on our visit? It sounds a bit cheeky, but I have such fond memories of my ever so short visit. I have some photos of my time there which I could bring along. Also, it is amazing that I am here at all to re-visit your beautiful country - the mini had no brakes!

Hi there - the ground floor of the house has been restored and open for tours, the 2nd floor will be restored in future. They just opened it to the public around a month ago.
