A short ferry ride and you're there. Lots of places to walk to, all of which are a treat for the eyes. Great views, castle towers to climb, Italian pools to walk around, gardens to admire. A true highlight of our trip!

the short passenger ferry trip was nice with seals along the way. the Island was a nice area to explore. The views are beautiful. The tower was a nice climb.

A must see for any garden lover in or near this part of Ireland. Brilliant garden design within a challenging location. Great planting too, including a large number of interesting mature shrubs which have taken off in the damp location protected by sea winds from clever tree planting. Definitely worth exploring every little path on the island as there was always a special surprise around the corner. Easy access via regular ferries and a nice little cafe next the jetty on the island. And congratulations to the gardening team for keeping it in such good order.

The island is beautiful, me and family had a lovely time over there and we will definitely be back again. We saw seals on our way back, took a lot of pictures and had a small snack in the coffee shop. All together a great day out.

Pleasantly surprised. The gardens are a gem, well laid out and planned.From the Walled Garden to the Italian Garden everything is still wonderful although flowers and shrubs are coming to the end of their summer blooms. Worth climbing the stairs of the Martello Tower to get splendid views of the bay.

A large group of us decided to take a day trip to Garinish Island, having not been there since our childhoods. Our children loved the boat trip and Seal Island, we had a lovely bright day. We had mandatory coffee, drinks and treats at the cafe upon arrival. We had lovely leisurely walk around the beautiful and picturesque island in full bloom. The kids loved the forested area and within centre gardens. Difficult to keep kids off the grass though!. We thoroughly enjoyed our few hours of escapism on Garinish and won't leave it as long to return.

My husband and I took the Blue Pool Ferry to Garnish Island where we spent a lovely afternoon exploring the gardens. An added value was seeing seals on the rocks on the way to the island and on the way back . The gardens are beautifully landscaped with a wide variety of plants, trees and garden features. We climbed to the top of the tower and were rewarded with beautiful views. We did not take the included house tour because we spent so much time viewing the gardens.
Admission to the island is 5 euros, Our admission was covered by the Irish Heritage/ Department of Public Works pass. The Blue Pool Ferry costs 10 euros. There are restrooms and a cafe on the island near the ferry dock.

De tuin is uitzonderlijk mooi. Bij aankomst legt een gids uit hoe je de toer van de tuin het beste kan doen. Het is een aanrader om dit ook zo te doen.
Er zijn bankjes voorzien waar je heerlijk tot rust kunt komen en kunt genieten van de uitzonderlijke planten.
Kijk goed met welke ferry je kwam. Met je heen/terug ticket moet je met dezelfde ferrrycompany terug.
Wachten op de ferry kan in het café/terras met een heerlijk uitzicht.
Er zijn bankjes voorzien waar je heerlijk tot rust kunt komen en kunt genieten van de uitzonderlijke planten.

So worth a visit..truely a hidden gem. The gardens were in full bloom and stunning. We did the tour of the house and Danny was above exceptional with his knowledge of the island and bryant family history and he shared nuggets of interesting facts on local history and stories with lovely humour too. Full kudos to him. The tour took circa 45mins but was worth it.. definitely would recommend it. Cafe at island pier had gorgeous lunch offers and delis coffee.

Was here today with the lovely Ursula and some of our grandchildren
First I must say the ferry is great as it stops along the way to view close up some seals that live on the rocks near Garnish. It was great for the kids as well as the adults.
The island is absolutely wonderful.
The proliferation of thousands of plants and trees all over the world is a great testament to Violet Bryce and her son Roland and their gardener Murdo Mackenzie.
There are numerous paths through fabulous flora and scattered throughout the island are little buildings including a Martello tower and a temple.
I highly recommend visiting this extraordinary place.

im sorry sorry but i have no idea. Have you looked online to see if there is information on their website? office of public works? I promise when it is open it is well worth the visit.

Se non ricordo male è dalle 9.00 alle 17.00 e ogni 20 minuti ne parte uno, noi non abbiamo prenotato.. il viaggio di andata eravamo in 4, poi al ritorno 20 persone, perché puoi visitare per parecchie ore l'isola con molta calma !

Yes you should be able. When we were there a family came in a rib. You pay for the ferry and the island separately. Maybe check directly with them

The ticket office will take cards but when I was there the cafe didn't. It may have just been on that day but I'd bring some cash to be safe.

Really depends on the severity of the disability, there are about 3 narrow steps into the boat and a bit of a walk from the main road. This was the blue pool ferry, not sure what the harbour queen facilities would be.

Hi, we're planning a visit to the gardens tomorrow. How accessible are the paths? My mum in law has limited mobility. Also how much will it be for 2 seniors, 2 adults and 2 children for ferry and gardens? No prices on the website. Thanks

Hi. There really are quite a lot of steps on the island. Some have a handrail. I have made a map of these and also taken some photos but am working to get Tripadvisor to post them.
The house should be accessible and part of the garden. The cafe and WC are accessible. There are a few steps in and out of the boats of course.

The boats were every half hour but picked back up on the hour which ties in well with the tour of the house. Enjoy it we did

I will be in glengariff only 1 day, I like to vsit garnish island ( have been there before years ago). I will be there April 30th.
1.Is the boattrip than availabe
2.What times in the morning it will leave for the island
3. Do I need to pre- book ( we are with 6 adults and 4 kids between 4-8
4. what is more or less the price for the boat plus isalnd visit ( not the house tour)

The island will be open on April 30th, boat trips start from 9:30am. No need to prebook, if you contact the ferry companies they will advise you of costs..
