This review is only for the cave tour itself. Would have loved to have seen the Birds of Prey show, but scheduling did not permit it. (We visited the cave as part of a small third party tour based out of Galway that was headed to the Cliffs of Moher.) The cave is located in a lovely area on the way to Cliffs, with nice scenery along the way. I am glad it was part of our tour, because it would be a long drive just to see the cave itself. I recall that the tour itself is less than 30 minutes. It is clean, mildly lit and starts in a nice little gift shop with clean restrooms. The tour itself is well designed, with a nice, even paved concrete path for those who are ambulatory inside the cave which was very well done, and it's generally well lit. There are some low cielings and large rocks sticking out, but the guide was careful to point these out. At one point, the guide will ask permission for all lights to go dark to show the true natural darkness of the cave, and only for a few seconds. Good picture opportunities of the water, stalagtites and stalagmites in the cave itself. The history of the cave is very interesting, as is the work that has been done to open it up to the public. There is a colony of Lesser Horseshoe Bats that reside in the cave, but sadly we were not able to see them. Highly recommend it if you happen to be in the area. Guides and staff were very nice and helpful.

Paid a family visit to Aillwee Cave + Bird of Prey Centre with my children yesterday and we had a very enjoyable few hours there. The birds of prey area is very clean and well laid out with information on each bird as you view them. You would need to check when the Birds of Prey Displays are on as they are not to be missed and the staff are so funny and entertaining, if you answer a question about the particular bird correctly the children get to put on the glove and have the bird fly onto their arm. Staff are always happy and on hand to answer any questions, very educational for kids. Afterwards we went up the hill to take a guided tour of the cave which lasts about 40 minutes and a lovely staff member took us through a 1km walk of the cave explaining the background to it's discovery. There are 3 shops in total including a farm shop between the 2 centers. One tip though, eat before you into the Bird of Prey Centre as staff are very clear about not eating food around the birds. Paid €70 for 2 adults and 2 kids (which helps with conservation) and honestly it was well worth it as we spent circa 3 hours here. Great family day out and the views are nothing short of spectacular when you get to the car park of Aillwee Caves.

Wow! What an experience. From start to finish it was flawless. Firstly I booked the wrong date and contacted Aliwee Caves who immediately transferred my tickets to the date I meant to book. I have 2 kids. A teen who is obviously gone from Santa and an 11 year old who we suspect is playing the game so this was our last Santa trip and wanted it to be special. We were not disappointed. Every one of the staff were friendly and made sure to draw my teen in to the fun also. The presents they got were amazing. Really catered to their ages. My son said it was the best ever which is exactly what we were aiming for. Birds of prey were beautiful and the farm shop is well worth a visit. Highly recommend and only disappointed we didn't do it when they were smaller. It would have bowled them over. So magical. Thank you Aliwee Caves.

Took the kids to see Santa. Paid nearly €130 for 2 adults and 2 kids under 5 years of age.
Was encouraged through email to be there 2-3 hours before Santa booking to experience all on offer. The Birds of Prey which took 15minutes, a walk with some Christmas lighting and two giftshops was all that was on offer.
When it was nearly our time to see Santa we went to the cave. There was free biscuits and tea/coffee/juice,a free carousel for the kids, free facepainting and a little post office for kids to write letters to Santa.
We were called through to go into the cave to see Santa. Much to my disappointment it was a group visit. Maybe 5 families with about 10 kids total were in our group. If I had known this I would definitely not have booked, especially as it was so pricey. The kids got presents,a jigsaw and the other a little unicorn toy. It was like a cattle mart with groups of families coming and going passing each other in the cave. We were lucky our group appeared smaller than some we passed but I personally would like my kids interaction with Santa to be a little more private than in front of a load of strangers. Weird set-up and obviously just about making as much money as possible. Would not recommend, totally disappointing.

This was a fantastic experience on a blustery day in The Burren. I happened to arrive ten minutes before the raptor demonstration, where a very skilled and funny handler called Garry treated us to insights and great flying from a Batleur Eagle and a Falcon. The birds fly free and he was skilled at filling in with commentary while waiting for them to come back to him for feeding. We learned a lot about their behaviours, their skills and their hunting capabilities.

When that finished I drove up the hill to the cave tour, only had to wait ten minutes til it started. The Cave is delightful, with four waterfalls internally, easy access by foot and lots of history from our guide.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay to explore the cheese room, but it was all great value for money. I'd love to go back again just to hear Garry expound on different bird species.

We really enjoyed our tour through the cave. My 4 y/o coped fine, the walk isn’t too strenuous although low in places. Guide was knowledgeable. We also enjoyed the birds of prey demonstration.

We were not disappointed. The setting is lovely and the cave shop, cafe and entrance is an amazing piece of architecture that fits right into the landscape and partially built from rocks from inside the cave! The first car park you come too is not for the cave, keep going up the hill!

I believe our cave tour guide was "Liz" but can't remember complety. She was friendly and very knowledgeable and really enjoyed her talk, as was the lady running the cafe/shop who we chatted to about the every changing weather in the country. The cave tour itself was truly amazing and pictures don't do it justice. Their new lighting and projection setup brings the cave alive and some of the running water features were simply awe inspiring. Be prepared, if you get claustrophobic, the first tunnel as you enter is long and small. It opens up eventually after the first bit and doesn't get the tight again as the exit is a different, much larger tunnel.

I would suggest taking a visit to the falconry aswell as your ticket covers both. It's small but the display is well worth waiting for. Garry and the other handler were great. Garry was super knowledgeable, clearly cared and was very entertaining. Well worth a visit!

What an experience.
Went with grandchildren who really enjoyed the experience.
This is not for the faint hearted our those who will object to getting a "few" drips of water on them. All part of the experience
