Looks really interesting but was closed when we visited. Doesn't look as though it is open very often. So phone before you travel

Great place to stay with family, really cosy and has everything you need, it's like home from home. It also has a play park nearby which was excellent.

This mill with its working waterwheel is definitely worth a visit. The guide does his job exceptionally well and that makes for a fascinating tour. In addition the harbour next to which the mill is set is beautiful and the backdrop of the Mournes completes the picture.

Having seen the picturesque cornmill from the outside on the previous day, we were pleasantly surprised to discover it open on our second stroll around the harbour.
The displays inside the building were excellently presented and gave great insight into the everyday lives of the farmers, millers and stonemasons whose existence was so dependant upon the rich and imposing Mourne landscape.
The guide was knowledgable, enthusiastic and friendly. I think it made his day to show people around who already had some fairly in depth general historical understanding. My travelling companion, Patrick, would happily have conversed with Richard for several hours!
If you've a spare half hour to an hour, it's well worth the small entrance fee. A great little trip for 'junior school' children; fill their heads with as much social history as possible before social media consumes them as teenagers!
I hope to be able to return one day with my grandson to show him the birthplace and the life led by his 5 x great grandad, an early nineteenth century stoneman, before crossing the Irish Sea mid century with his young family to work the coalmines of Durham.
If closed, it's beautifully photogenic from outside. The tiny harbour itself, with it's highly entertaining population of black guillemots, is well worth taking 'a wee dander' around. A memorable trip and many thanks to Richard!

What a jewel of a place. Our guide, Richard, was very knowledgeable about the mill, milling in the area and local rural life. He presented everything in an accessible way and was very quick to pick up on the needs of visitors (eg recognising that someone might be hard of hearing). Lovely accent, but still clear and easy to listen to. With his wider knowledge of history and life he answered many obscure questions.
The mill itself is a little gem. Lovingly and sympathetically restored, with lots of information around the walls.
It will be on our list of recommended visits for any visitors we have.
What was supposed to be a quick visit ended up with us spending over an hour soaking up the atmosphere and information.
PS Good parking, next to a working harbour and nice surrounding area to walk around

Annalong is a lovely little village on the Mourne Coastal highway. We visited the Corn Mill Museum ( open 2pm to 5pm. It is really interesting view of life in Annalong in years gone by. Beautiful area right by the sea. Lovely Pub that you can walk to as well

Richard took us on an interesting tour even outside opening hours, he is very enthusiastic about the cornmill and this shows. Very enjoyable we had an extra bonus of a local stonesmith who happened to be working there and imparted his knowledge. Thoroughly recommend
