As a primary school teacher I booked the WWII experience with Jo. It was amazing- totally adapted for my class and theirs needs with a seasonal twist linked to the era. Many thanks to Sue and Steve the volunteers who were full of information and enthusiasm. My 10/11 years had a wonderful time. Real value for money with super hands on activities. The prep and organization was faultless. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

What a wonderful place!! From the moment we arrived, everyone was so friendly and welcoming - the wonderful lady on reception even lent her fleece to my friend!! We had the MOST interesting tour of the house, the stewards are so knowledgeable I could have stayed for ever. It's a really lovely old house with loads of interesting history from it's medieval beginnings up to WW2. I can't wait to visit again in the summer. And what a delight to be able to visit a house in the winter months. The little cafe is lovely with some really delicious food and once again, such friendly and obliging women serving. And not forgetting the friendly lady in the gift shop as well, she was great fun. The gardens are beautiful, even out of season so I must return in the Spring and Summer. Thank you to everybody at Michelham you are doing a truly wonderful job. Well done.

While staying in East Sussex we discovered Michelham Priory.
A wonderful place to look around and to explore.
After viewing the priory we took a walk around the gardens and discovered the Iron Age round house, we finished the day with a cuppa and cake in the cafe.
A nice day out.

Lovely food, fascinating place with really excellent information from the volunteer guides. Lovely grounds to wander in and some nice gardens which were interestong in October but would be stunning earlier in the year.

It was a school trip. We organised for a class of children to have a series of workshops run by volunteers to bring alive the topic of Pre-history and The Stone Age. The volunteers were friendly, engaging for children and very knowledgeable. We had a walk through time around the grounds which was punctured by excellent history teaching. The children loved reaching the roundhouse.

Back at the base room we explored and interacted with artefacts; some real and some constructed to be like what they would have been like. The talks were excellent and the children were transfixed. We then ‘buried’ two children with selected artefacts.

The gift shop was well organised and allowed children to buy chosen items easily. In the afternoon we did cog weaving which the children loved and they also learned about the origins and history of weaving and clothes production.

The whole day was excellent, brilliantly organised and wry good value for money.

I highly recommend them for school trips. They cover many different topics and historical periods. Brilliant.

We ended up at Michelham Priory as the attraction we were meant to be visiting was closed – so we search a map and decided on Michelham Priory (a place none of us had visited before).

The imposing gatehouse gave a great impression and set the tone for a very enjoyable visit. The house and grounds are not huge, but are large enough to make a visit last a couple of hours. When we were there, there was an archery demonstration in the afternoon.

The playground was closed, but it looked good. We did not see the watermill but did see the Bronze age roundhouse (a small walk from the rest of the attraction) – one bit of disappointment was that the moat was almost full of weeds and mud, shame as this was a bit selling point of the property.

Went a person displaying a car a the 2021 Classic show. After supplying information and copy of insurance the organisers did not respond to email and have failed to give answers to questions to which include legal obligations. Got the impression that they were simply not interested, poor attendance by exhibitors and rude comments from members of the public who are ignorant about certain car models. Potential to be good if someone actually cared. They also could not be bothered to return phone calls.

Wasn’t sure where to take my 11 year old granddaughter for our last day together this summer holiday so I decided on Michelham Priory & I must say I’m glad I did. The grounds are beautiful & the house is so interesting, we spent an hour going round the house alone then another 2 hours in the gardens we also visited the cafe which is very reasonably priced, I would definitely recommend the coronation chicken baguette. If you go into the gift shop you can buy a bag of duck food for £1, we ended up getting 3 bags because it’s so much fun having the ducks eat out of your hands & following you around as soon as they see you with the brown paper bag. The watermill & the blacksmiths forge were closed but we knew this before going. We will definitely be visiting here again in the near future.

We visited here over the bank holiday and were surprised that it wasn't busier. The parking is good and the grounds were vast. The highlight for us were the ducks that stampeded down to the cafe while we were getting drinks. They obviously are very friendly and are a great draw for the visiting children. The gardens, although needing some maintenance and care were lovely. No hills or steep areas to negotiate. Not sure about scooters or wheelchairs though as it is mostly lawn. There is a childrens play area the other side of the moat. The house was interesting and we loved looking around without being hurried. The shops/cafes were a little expensive but the money needed to maintain the place must be enormous! The staff were lovely and informative. I hadn't realised they did various events here either so I shall keep my eyes open for them. The sun was out so the day was great. Not sure what we would have done if it had been raining though. People were picnic'ing in various places, so I assume it would be a good alternative. Would we come again? on a sunny day - yes.

We visited the Priory on the recent event day and were very impressed with the people who took part in all of the displays and those lovely volunteers in the actual priory. The cafe was staffed by very friendly and helpful people and the cakes were excellent. We also ate a hearty lunch and were very happy to pay the rate which was good value when set in such an environment.
The gardens were very interesting and it was so good being able to talk with one of the gardeners about our gardening issues, he was very friendly and helpful.
A really good day out and we will return using the historic Sussex past annual pass.
