If you're deciding whether to come to Cebu Island, do yourself a favor and go SOMEWHERE ELSE. The traffic here is terrible, things are very disorganized and the infrastructure makes it so going 60km takes 3-4 hours.

This is one of the favorite places to go in our area. Kawasan Falls is about 30 minutes, or so, from Moalboal. There are some things that concerned me a while back, like many people washing their clothes in the river on the trek up to the falls. trash, and the safety of some of the steps going up to the falls needing attention. But overall, it is a beautiful hike. There are essentially 3 tiers of the falls, each one resulting in beautiful, large pools for swimming. I always go to the top because you can dive off of the cliff, and they have a swing rope. The water is amazingly cold and refreshing. Be careful hiking up, but definitely make this part of your adventure!

We went here last August 2019 for my birthday celebration. We flew at Cebu just because of this Kawasan falls. My elder sister just told me this paradise. I was amazed because of its natural falls. The fresh water that hugs our skin as we swim. Also the trekking that we had done. Jumping over the high up to the deep of the falls was adventurously unforgettable! We hope to get back here soon!

Was one amazing experience from start to the end. If you have family it’s a great bond time. Fun for everyone even if your not into jumping. Worth every penny you must try.

It was a slightly unplanned weekend getaway. Booked a flight and hotel in Mactan. Rented a car at the airport and drove to the hotel. It was only then that we decided with our grown-up kids to drive to Kawasan Falls.
It was a good 3-hour drive southwest from Cebu City. Cars are not allowed near the falls. Cars and vans can be parked at the church patio of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish along Santander-Barili-Toledo Road. Parking fee is minimal. Walk to Kawasan falls is one kilometer, more or less. At the side of the road is a river from Kawasan Falls that flows to the sea... and the WATER IS VERY CLEAR! At the other side of the road is a water pipe from the mountain that supplies clean water to the community below. Before reaching the falls, there's a water turbine that drives a generator that supplies electricity to the tourist area.
In front of the main waterfall is a lagoon where visitors can swim. Up high the mountain above the main waterfall is a series of small waterfalls.
It was really worth the trip!

Literally the best thing I’ve done in Cebu, Philippines. This place is like the Garden of Eden with beautiful greenery, magical waterfalls, crystal blue water, butterflies and dogs. This was my kind of Heaven.
We stayed in Moalboal and it was a 40min scooter ride to this place not the easiest for us to find but locals are more then happy to point you in the right direction. We went early in the morning to beat the crowds which I recommend doing. We didn’t do a Canyoneering Tour which you can do if you want too we didn’t book any tour or package. We just paid to park our scooter at the church and paid the admittance fee to see the falls and swim
Highly recommend visiting here it’s stunning 🤍

We ventured to the beautiful Kawasan falls on a one day excursion. It was truly an amazing experience. Canyoneering was epic and the falls were beautiful! So far, it’s been the highlight of our trip in Cebu. Met some great people.

My husband loves all water activites and I wanted to join him in this canyoneering experience, but as I dont like being under water (which includes jumping in the water), and having read several reviews that there are alternatives for non-jumpers, I decided to give it a shot. First of all, my advice for all participants of tours is to clarify what is included in the tour price. Our guides of the tour asked for extra payments even for a locker. Then there was possibility to use zip line for extra charge 500 pesos per person, and unfortunately we did not have enough money with us. Snorkelling shoes also were available for rent. So, take money with you (there are also snack shops available during the tour, even with grilled meat!). Second lesson was to take water with us, as it takes a while before you get to the activity from Moalboal, then you have some time before going on the tour and to get to the river there is approx. 30 minutes long walk in heat. We bought water on our way to the river in one of the shops. Then take only the necessities with you - we had clothes to change after the experience (good idea, as then you can change wet outfit before having lunch with your group and heading back to Moalboal), some money for snacks (good idea), GoPro with floaty handle (good idea to have floating accesories), personal medicine. We packed all of this except cothes in a waterproof bag and for extra safety plastic bag you use for liquids when going through airport security. Despite the precautions our money was a bit wet after all jumps :) And we saw a guy with a wet passport, so do not rely too much on waterproof bags. Plan your outfit - I had a swimsuit, long strechy yoga pants and a T-shirt under safety west, as well as snorkeling shoes. Overall I was happy with my outfit, except the footwear. My husband had trekking shoes and it was way more comfortable, as the river has rocks beneath all the time and after 30 minutes of climbing on the rocks you wish you had shoes with a proper sole. On the jumps (and avoiding them). Almost all jumps could be avoided by alternative path near the jump. The guide clearly instructed on the alternative path. However, there were two places when I could not avoid jumping in the water - in the beginning of the tour and a bit later. On these two occasions I had to jump in the water from approx.1 m height. For me it was doable. The guide told me where exactly to jump and my husband held me stright after the jump and pulled me in the right direction while I was trying to understand what just happended. I am really happy I did this trekking, the jungle and falls are beautiful, and overall it was nice experience. I wish I had proper information in advance what to expect. Unfortunately most of the videos from canyoneering are hero-like with all the crazy jumps and it is difficult to adopt an informative decision, if you are not that into jumping.

Is this tour alright for a 5 yr old and 10 yr old? Will there be a lot of hiking and trekking involved to get to the falls??
Skrevet 29. januar 2020
Hey are there any cannyoing tour offers at 12 or 1 for a reasonable price.
Kind regards Thalea
Skrevet 5. februar 2019
Hello Thalea, i did not have the chance to request this proper offer, but i am pretty sure you can make whatever suits you the most.
In Kawasan there is a lot of agency all ready to offer the best! bear in mind all prices are negotiable and Philippines are very chip for the good value of the offer we can get.
Enjoy your time there, it is just wonderful !

How much is the entrace fee? Is it same fee for locals and foreigners?
Skrevet 22. november 2018
Hi, yup, It's P40.00 peso per person for both local & foreigners. But if you will avail the kawasan canyoneering package, it will be included.

Hi, planning on going to Kawasan falls, there will be 5 of us, just wondering where you booked your tour or best place to pick up a tour guide?
Thanks in advance
Skrevet 27. desember 2016
That depends on where you wanted to stay. There are rooms for rent just beside the falls but they are often fully book. Unfortunately, I do not have their contact number though. There are other resorts where you could stay but they are located along the highway. You can ask the staff where you need to go so that you could reach the falls. The place where we stayed is called La Playa Asuncion which is located about 20 minutes from the foot of the mountain. They do not have a website yet. You need to call their local number so that you can book a room. I could share the number but seems that TripAdvisor will not let me do so :( The entrance going to the falls is at the foot of the mountain where you will find a small church with lots of motorcycles parking on the side. You just need to follow the crowd since the people going in indicates that they are going to the falls. There really is no need for you to hire a tour guide unless you also want to do canyoneering (not quite sure if it is already available since they stopped the service due to multiple accidents in the area).

Is this place safe for a 3 year old kid? Can you use any shower room after swimming? Thanks.
Skrevet 18. februar 2016
I can't really say that the place is totally safe for kids. They have life jackets for rent but that's about it. You still need to keep a close watch just to make sure that they are totally safe especially if they are not used to swimming in fresh water. There is a shower that you can use afterwards but you need to pay a little something. Not sure how much though since we typically don't shower after dipping in the falls. We just go home to the resort where we are staying and take a shower from there. It won't really feel nasty since it's just fresh water.

any recommendations on hotels near the whale shark watching area?
Skrevet 1. mars 2015
if you just need a place to stay with basic amenities then you can look at MB Sunrise View Resort. The feeding area for the whales is just almost in front of the resort. The orientation area is walking distance from the resort and the resort accepts registrations for whale watching...
Just bring food before you go there because they do not have a restaurant.
