The Fraser Valley is intensely developed, and it was wonderful to experience this beautiful green space so close to everything. Lots of walking trails, and beautiful scenery. A perfect spot for getting out of the rat race of a brief while! It's vast, so excellent to visit over and over again if you have the time.

One of several regional parks in the Lower Mainland. Hard packed trails, good for walking, jogging, pushing strollers, moving in a wheelchair... The paths meander through towering cottonwood trees and small cedar groves. The paths also offer occassional benches if you like to take some breaks along the way. Walking along the Fraser and rock skipping is also a treat. Or you might wish to stay closer to the vehicle parking lots and enjoy a picnic on beautiful wood picnic tables.

MOSQUITOES INFESTATION. HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK.
DO NOT let anyone downplay the severity of the mosquitoes infestation in the trails. Parks Board of Langley needs to take this A LOT MORE SERIOUSLY. Mosquitoes are known to carry a lot of viruses and should be controlled in a Park. As of right now, the trails are NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN, OR ANYONE for that matter.
I accumulated OVER 20 BITES despite swatting them away quite diligently. By the we realised we were being SWARMED (LITERALLY!), it was too late. There was no turning back. You just had to continue along the trail and pray you find the exit soon. The mosquitoes were abundant and aggressive. They were on your face, neck, arms, legs and even went through my workout attire! The general area, unfortunately, is close enough to swamps that the mosquitoes were EVERYWHERE. It's definitely a health and safety risk, so I would steer clear. I will be nursing these WELTS for a little while.
Again, Parks Board Langley should really do something about their mosquitoes infestation as this is a Park open to the public (family campsites, etc) and learn to control the mosquito population. For now, POST WARNINGS to your trail-goers about your pet mosquitoes. I didn't see one warning about them, and I think this is just as important as posting a bear warning. Yes, I'm serious. The mosquitoes situation was HORRIFYING.
Just to give you all a full picture, here are the factors below.
Date of visit: late-July
Time of visit: 11am - 1:30pm
Weather: Sunny
Temperature: ~20c
Definitely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND for the above health and safety reasons!

Stopped here to see the sites and take in a short stroll along the walkways. This area has excellent signage identifying COVID-19 social distancing requirements. Good to get out during these difficult times.

Walk or bike in trails or bike all the way to Fort Langley. Picnic tables available. Area for dogs. Large grass area for games. Get there early as parking gets short late in afternoon.

Nice large open dog park for all sizes of dogs. They have an area for smaller dogs too. Being right by the river is fun. Nice to hike. Very pretty.

This is a good park to visit with your dog for an on leash walk. The river front is very scenic and the forested loop is a nicely graveled path for any weather walking. It is usually not busy and has a convenient parking lot. You may see horse riders so always on leash only.

Had a few hours to kill off on our recent visit to Langley so we zipped out to derby reach for some hiking! Took the Houston Trail instead of beside the river just so we could check out the forested trails in the park! The trail was easy to find, relatively calm for traffic (people on trails) and super quiet and lush in the forest! We did a total of 5km and loved visiting! Will definitely be back!

The park is great for families, couples or to just go and relax along the river alone. The atmosphere is both quiet and fun to watch the families with their kids...not so quiet then, but it puts a smile on your face!

Hi there, I would like to inquire about reserving, and information regarding access to a few campsites at Derby Reach for a Birthday party/family bbq, I am planning mid Jan, 2017.
Is the campground open? Please let me know the details during that time..., ie; overnight camping available?; access times open for public use?; costs associated? Campfires allowed?
Thank you for your reply,
Elle Barrem

Derby Reach park is day use only through the winter you can call them at 604 530 4983 to see if they can do anything for you. You can also try another nearby regional park, Brae Island Regional Park, Fort Camping, they are only a 10 min drive further east in Fort Langley as far as I know they have year round camping, they are also on they river and you can walk into Fort Langley, they can be reached at 604 888 3678 or toll free 1 866 267 3678. if you google Brae Island Regional Park they have a website that might give you some answers also.

Hi, sorry for the delay - would ask that you review their website with search: metro Vancouver regional parks
However - January weather at this time is very iffy - would suggest using a park or recreational venue that has cabins or cottages - in case.
