I am a Hong Kong traveler who stayed in Lombok for a month in Feb. i had around 14 days lessons which surfing with monkey surf teachers. All I want to say is the teachers are very good, experienced and patient. They can provide a recommendation of your style and positioning right after you catch the waves. The recommendations are very good for a rookie like me to tackle some more challenging waves. Thanks for your help in the last month and I will recommend you guys to check this school if you are in Lombok.

Best surf school

We spent 4 days with Bahtiar and his awesome local crew surfing breaks in lombok. Nothing was ever to hard.. We are a family of 4.. 11 and 14 yr old boys .. my husband and me .. all of different levels .. they took us to different amazing breaks everyday around kuta .. looked after all of us and really tuned in to all our varying needs. We had so much fun and awesome solid and holding rides. Highly recommend them to anyone interested in any level of surfing. Take you out of your comfort zone with confidence but still feel so safe .. best experience.. Will always come back to them.. local knowledge and cool dudes . Cant go wrong.. Thanks brothers!!!! And thank you for chose us for your surf guide/lesson among there's many other surf school in Kuta lombok And it was great to meet you all and had some nice waves with you! Please let us know if you ever comeback to lombok again. And you guys always welcome to visit us!

Surf trip

My first day was with Kimjho. He was an awesome instructor and helped me catch some of my first waves. He was very responsive one their WhatsApp number. He checked in with me multiple times before my visit and during my visit to know what times to meet at the surf shop.

The second day I surfed with Win. He took me out to a more intermediate surfing area. He was super friendly and got me up on a hardtop to catch some long breaks! I definitely recommend Monkey Surf for anybody who wants to learn, practice or just needs a guide to great surf spots. 10/10.

Top Surf School in Kuta

I spent two days surfing with instructors from Monkey surf shop. I had about 10 days of surfing experience before coming to Kuta and I became a much better surfer thanks to my instructors John and Bri. They taught me about the breaks and helped me to improve greatly on riding the wave once up (which was exactly what I needed). The price was better than other more well known shops/schools in town and I think they instruction and service was top notch. I wish that I had more time to go out more days with them. In addition, Kimjo is such a great guy at the shop. He answered my text at 8:45pm to go out surfing the next morning. Kimjo is very friendly and makes you feel like part of the Monkey family as soon as you step foot in the shop. Would highly recommend Monkey for all surf levels.

Great surf lesson and overall experience

I had a great day in the waves with Abdul from Monkey Surf Shop & School.

Abdul was a great teacher ensuring I got up on most waves.

The ~30min (each way) trip through the countryside on the back of a scooter and the cup of Lombok coffee and the large water at the beachside warung really added to the experience!

I am so happy that I have found this surf school. I couldn’t ask for anything more when learning to surf! People at Monkey surf shop are really nice, good teachers and they always make you happy. No matter how good a surfer you are, they will take good care of you and want you to try your best. I was a total beginner when I started with Monkey surf shop and now, after two trips to Lombok and more than a month of surfing there nearly every day, I can say I’ve learned and improved more than I could ever have imagined. And the best thing is that surfing is always so much fun with the guys! If you want to learn how to surf or just want to find good surfing spots and have fun, I can totally recommend Monkey surf shop & school!

Loved surfing with Monkey surf shop & school - totally recommended!

If you're looking for a friendly, professional & super-fun surf shop & school in Kuta Lombok, Monkey surf shop is definitely the place to choose! No matter if you're a total beginner or a more advanced surfer, they'll have what you need.

I learnt the very basics of surfing with Monkey on my first trip to Lombok in May this year, and couldn't have been happier. I was travelling with a friend and we both had super nice & professional teachers we could trust, ask questions and have fun with. Everything was well-organized and already after our first surf lesson in Selong Belanak beach we just knew we would come back for more.

Visited Kuta Lombok again in November this year and stayed for over a month to improve our surfing. Loved every second! We were surfing 6 days per week, most of the time with Jhon and Lucky who are both not just wonderful teachers but also so much fun to hang out with! We also had Bahtiar, Izam, Wing, Hendry, Leo and Kimjho teaching us on some days and we can totally recommend every single one of them! :) Monkey crew took us to many different surf spots around Kuta (Gerupuk, Tanjung Aan, Seger, Areguling) and we always felt they really wanted us to learn, challenge ourselves and just have a wonderful time. Everything worked very smoothly and we never had to worry about anything. And with good teachers we were quick to improve our skills and got totally hooked. Also loved all the after surf chilling and how much at home everyone makes you feel - that's what it's all about!

So, just a big thank you for everything and until next time - we can't wait to be back!

Great experience with Monkey Surf for intermediate

I'm very happy to give a positive feedback for Monkey Surf Shop! I have been in Kuta, Lombok for a month and a half and have already surfed a lot with the instructors of Monkeys. I am advanced level so it was important for me to get the opportunity to get to the right spots and that they help me to practice my skills. For my first session they went with me to Selong Beach to know my level. There I was with Kimjho and Win and had more than fun with those guys! That's why I continued my surfing with Monkeys. Through the long time I have been here I surfed with almost all guides and they took me to many different spots depending on the conditions. I can highly recommend them all. For example Izam, John, Henry, Ade or Leo! It's not all about surfing - anytime I had some questions or needed help around they were here for me, especially Lucky who is managing the trips. Definitely, I felt more than welcome! Terimah kasih!

Fun first experience of surfing!

I surfed with Monkey Surf Shop for 3 days while in Kuta as a complete beginner, and couldn't recommend them more. The first day we were guided really well, and there was always someone in the water with us helping and telling us how to improve. Travel was always included, as well as coffee & water, and the instructors are all super friendly. I would say take the time to get to know them, and understand that the timings will always differ - you're in Indonesia! But they are great value for money and a lot of fun. I'll definitely be back one day!

Great experience!

We are three girls that took our first lessons with Monkey Surf and we are very happy with our experience. The teachers were pleasant in the water and they really wanted us to succeed. Even though we hadn’t booked private lessons, it felt like it because there were many teachers in the water that wanted to help you. Another good thing that we hadn’t expected was that the transport to the beach was included in the price! We recommend everyone who wants a fun time to go with Monkey Surf! :)
