Very beautiful castle, it is worth seeing even if it is in total ruin.. the road can be heavy and full of mud so go prepared with good footwear.. follow the road to a green fence, continue after that green fence and you will find the castle:) it is divine!!! If you have Drone you will have amazing shots

Amazing abandoned place. Sad story behind it, but so breathtaking seeing the nature recovering its place. Walk around 20 mins to get there.

The building itself is majestic. It's history is sad, and even sadder is the state in which it is now.
Hope someone will salvage it.
There is an opening in the barriers from where you can sneak in, but must be careful.

An absolutely beautiful castle. It is ashame that it is so vandalised. The walk there is quite steep and difficult to get to but it is worth it in my opinion.

Hard to find this castle as not sign posted and not on any road, we found it round the back of the football training ground. A bit of a hike and all fenced off when you get there. Has been a lovely building at one time but definitely not a castle. Mostly derelict and hardly anything to see. Not worth the effort.

Steeped in history, originally the home of Lord and Lady Lennox, then bought by the council to be used as a mental health hospital ...some great short videos are available on Youtube made by a nurse that worked there at the time ... Closed in 2002, then burnt down a few years lady ...now in sad ruins but must have been glorious in its day...there is also a hidden walled garden nearby and spectacular views from Lovers Leap. This castle is hard to find...well done if you do!

It's a beautiful building to visit, just a shame we have idiots on this planet that think it's ok to vandalise these historic places. Leave them as you find them for others to enjoy.
It's fairly difficult to find. I parked in the housing estate campsie village, castle view and walked through the woods. You can see where others have walked. Shouldn't be too difficult to find your way.

I must start with a disclaimer to my review. If you visit this place PLEASE have respect and leave no trace that you were there!
This amazing structure has been complete trashed. Rubbish and vandalism are seen everywhere at this amazing part of history.
We had a difficult time finding the right place to start on the trail so I will share our instructions.
When you arrive in Lennoxtown, take Glen Road to Newbridge road. You will cross a little bridge and immediately after the bridge on the right there are 2 parking spaces and a trail head (See photos). On the other side of the road is a park and a paved walking trail. Don't take the paved trail.
Follow the path until you reach the first turn off to the right. You will see a river. If you stay on on this side of the river and are heading uphill you are going the right direction.
Follow the trail and you will come to a semi-paved path. Follow that to the top and you will see the castle. It is probably less than a mile walk.
This castle must have once been a spectacular site. My heart hurt to see such a beautiful place in ruins and so disrespected by people's vandalism.
The castle is fenced off but there is a gaping hole in the fence.
I would love to see this beautiful place restored and used for something good.

No lie -- this was a cool find. We actually were just trying to explore the lover's leap trail when we came out to Lennoxtown, but we found this castle while just exploring. The castle is adjacent to a large forest clearing which was really, really stunning. There are low tree branches (we sat on a thick one and ate lunch), with a green carpet below (although it was covered in multi-colored leaves while I was there, because it was November). It was such a cool place to walk around and explore, and we had such a nice time hanging out in that little clearing. I would actually really recommend checking it out if you're in Glasgow, because a bus ticket to lennoxtown doesn't cost much (I can't remember the exact amount now, but I'm pretty sure it was less than $10 USD).

Where is best to park to walk to the castle?
Skrevet 9. april 2021
Depending on how much of a walk to want, then either in one of the nearby neighborhoods or by the training center, if you want to walk, maybe 5 km, then in Lennoxtown

My little boy plays at Lennoxtown every Saturday. You take a left before you get to the football grounds a Nd then we parked the car beside a little house that's there a bit spooky then we walked up the hill and to the right then along the path and then you come to the castle. It's all run down but we walked right round and came back out at some trees. Hope that helps. X
