Beware!!!
Terrible, greedy, forgetful, rude and a somewhat racist operator.
He doesn’t know 25% of what he boasts. For example, if you want to visit a Swiss watchmaker of repute, I bet Roy cannot arrange that.
Date of visit - 28th August 2019
Family of 4- Me, my wife, 8yo & a 2.5yo. He charged for all of us which was fine but did everything to ruin the experience despite a very careful & detailed planning with him. We decided to leave midway without doing the actual watch factory tour as he started to be very rude to my wife (simply because she suggested a Pizza for the kids at 1315 hours when the next tour was at 1400 hours & the factory to tour was only 5 minutes away from the Pizza place). We are vegetarians & he was to arrange the lunch- anyways I intervened and said lets go to a place where Roy feels comfortable as he knows we have hungry kids with us & Roy was worried about time it takes to make Pizzas. To my utter shock he drove for 10 minutes & took us to the smallest of tuck-shops in that area claiming they have great vegetarian food- only to find out they didn’t even have anything fresh... only refrigerated sandwiches & all of them non vegetarian and he didn’t even step out of the car to help. The small shop person didn’t even speak English.
And then he gave us that racist remark which blew my mind off- so we decided to cancel then and there and he dropped us to the train station. He had no remorse or regrets & doesn’t have to this day as that is a typical modus operandi of a conman.
Interestingly Roy had picked us from Railway station and as we were driving towards the Omega/Swatch museum, he realised half way through that he had kept the files on the roof of his car and all of them had blown off. So we turned back from half way & that wasted more than 15 minutes of our time (for which he created so much fuss & ultimately ruined the whole thing). I am yet to see a more forgetful person than him. Infact I feel sorry for him, the day before our actual tour he forgot the date & thought it was 27th. 🙈
We had traveled all the way from Southern Africa & reserved our last day in Zurich just for the experience after 4 months of planning with Roy and advance payments. Infact we changed our itinerary to suit him. What a waste!
I have email proofs & if anyone is interested, can send the whole chain of emails.
This is my first ever review and was so hurt that am attempting again (my original review was removed) to hopefully save someone from getting conned.
However am also wondering about his disappearance (there is no review for him after our visit in August)

My wife and I spend a day with Roy and had the most memorable time in our three week vacation in Europe!
Roy customized the tour to meet our request and advised on small touches that made all the difference. We visited the Horological Museum in Neuchatel which I found to be overwhelming. But then we had lunch with an expert from Girard-Perregaux that was outstanding.... food, company, discussion, ambiance. Then we traveled into the Jura country to visit a small museum that focused on a family's farming/watchmaking business. I found this to be very impactfull.... how the farmers were able to make watches in their house during the 19th century. We even got to test our assembly skills on a watch assembly. We finished the tour by having a local beer outside and on-site of the beautiful countryside. We finished the day having excellent (10-Rating) French dinner with a master jeweler who was fascinating. I and so glad we did this and plan to come back to Roy in the future to cover more areas of the storied Swiss Watch Era which continues to fascinate the world with it's mix of engineering and art.

If you want to visit a particular factory of your own choice, then this is NOT the tour for you. Before paying the deposit, we were extremely specific about a particular factory we wanted to visit. However, upon receipt of the deposit, the tour operator offered a very different destination. Upon requesting a cancellation, the tour operator still expected full payment of the unwanted tour or he threatened he would take legal action. BEWARE !!

For a fair assessment of our business practices we suggest travellers read the other reviews which give a much fairer assessment of Swiss watch tours. All visits to manufacturers are subject to availability which is what we say clearly in all our correspondence.

Although there was a little bit of a hiccup connecting with Roy at the train station, I was impressed by the access he provided us to a well-known manufacturer. Our tour was about 3 hours long with a knowledgeable host and access to what seemed like every nook and cranny of the manufacturing facilities. We ended in the VIP lounge where we got to try on literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars of watches. It was a heady experience.
And for those other reviewers who have complained about not knowing what manufacturer they'll see in advance or being disappointed by the one they visit, I would say they're missing the point. If you want a tour of specific manufacturer, you can get that fairly easily if you agree in advance to purchase a super high-pried watch once you're on site. But for most of us who may not be in the market for a $10,000+ watch, this is a great opportunity to visit a Swiss watch making facility without feeling pressured to buy a watch at the end.
I had a delightful time and would highly recommend this if what I described appeals to you.

We were delighted to read your positive comments about your watch tour in July and that you appreciated what it is.
It takes a good deal of planning to have it run well and you are so right by pointing out that we facilitate visits to factories that otherwise would not be possible (except by laying out thousand of USD say) and even then I know that many manufacturers will not allow visitors (unless large retailers).
A unique tour company we will be ten years (in 2020) of successfully taking visitors to see the "where and how" of fine mechanical watch making here and watch enthusiasts and their spouses both enjoy the experience !
We hope to see you again - there are other factories to visit and "horological experiences" that visitors enjoy. with thanks,

For watch enthusiasts visiting Switzerland, the opportunity to see a factory or "manufacture" in action seems like a must. The problem-- and as I started planning my visit a few months beforehand it took me quite a bit of time to figure this out-- is that the factories are inundated with requests and are understandably more focused on making watches than organizing and leading tours of their facilities.
I wanted make sure that a tour would happen for me and my traveling companion and this is where Roy and his business come in-- Once I located him online I was able to "lock down" a date and, a bit later, a location for a factory tour, so that box was checked. I had previously gone through back-and-forth with three different factories without an intermediary and none would guaranty a tour, so the nominal fee Roy charges to get this done is well worth it.
On the day of our tour Roy was very helpful getting us to and into the factory. In retrospect it makes sense but beforehand I hadn't expected the very tight security outside the buildings. Once inside, the staff of this particular manufacture was wonderful to us-- generous with their time and genuinely proud of their product. A gentleman involved with material development told us fascinating stories of his work and, almost by chance, we got to chat with the manufacture's chief watchmaker who showed us --and even let us hold in our hands- some of his creations valued at the level of small houses-- he also kindly examined and appreciated the "regular" watches we happened to be wearing that day--
We seemed to be the only tourists in this large facility so again I'd credit Roy in facilitating this kind of access...
I think the manufactures respect Roy's "triage" work and they are willing and able to take it from there. In addition to the planning, Roy provides transportation from a meeting spot to the manufacture and also lunch afterward which is a nice touch.
We were staying in Geneva and the manufacture we visited was about 25 minutes away by train and we were responsible for getting ourselves to the meeting spot-- this was fine but I realized I should have paid closer attention to the logistics of accessing the train and that component of the trip in advance since the meeting time was in the early morning.
Overall, a really nice experience-- so our thanks to Roy for helping to make it happen!

Il tour è iniziato dal B&B in Neuchatel dove abbiamo soggiornato e da cui Roy, un uomo estremamente gentile, disponibile e spiritoso è venuto a prenderci in macchina. Siamo partiti così alla scoperta dell’area circostante dove risiedono le più grandi fabbriche di orologi di lusso.
Durante tutto il tour siamo stati allietati dall’estrema conoscenza di Roy che dopo la visita al museo e un ottimo pranzo ci ha infine condotti alla visita della fabbrica di uno dei principali produttori di orologi.
La visita è stata estremamente affascinante ed interessante. Il mio fidanzato, appassionato di orologi , era eccitato come un bambino.
Al termine abbiamo anche ricevuto degli splendidi gadget.
Grazie mille Roy per aver reso questo giorno indimenticabile.
Consiglio questo tour anche ai non appassionati di orologi..non ve ne pentirete !

What a wonderful review ! I was delighted to read your words and my office staff are also pleased. Our aim is to show you how much goes on in watch making here and the history and traditions also. Like many others before it is a unique experience and the museums both at the factory and locally show a lot of history.
I remember it was your husband's Birthday so what a great present - so thoughtful !

The tour provided by this company will appeal to those who want to learn more about the Swiss watch industry in general. It is well organized, and done at a relaxed pace. The lunch is just OK. It is important to know what kind of watch factory tour you are interested in. If you want a large production facility, then this tour is fine (we went to TAG). If you are interested in the smaller, more exclusive brands (Vacheron, Breguet, Patek) then this tour will disappoint. The operator does not seem to have access to these older companies. Visiting the Horological Museum in Chaux de Fonds was good - but you can do that on your own, just as you can do the driving around looking at the outside of the other manufacturers. So you are really paying to get inside TAG. If that is your thing, then this is your tour.

This visitor first contacted us long before he planned to be in Switzerland and asked if he could go to the smaller specialist makers listed above. I was open and honest with him and told him that they do not take visitors and that our primary aim is to show the "where & how" of fine mechanical watch making, not just "brands" as often referred to.
Taking three other visitors we do not just drive around other makers or associated companies but tell visitors about the history, culture and respective factories in the Jura mountains.He omitted to say that at Tag we asked for him to go to the "haute horlogerie" department and with the others visited the private company museum, not open to the public.It is more than "paying to get inside TAG". Neither he nor other members of the public can access exclusive watch companies like we do as the only tour company dedicated to watch tours.
The other professionally qualified visitors were delightful and as can be seen on many other reviews they thoroughly enjoyed their Day Tour. They said "Thanks very much for a lovely day yesterday. Was most informative and a very good day for us amateur watch lovers. Perhaps Ulysse Nardin next time or anything else you may suggest a once again Thank you" from NN in Australia.They plan to come back and were a pleasure to take on a full day's tour. My thanks to them of course.

I heard about this tour from a friend of mine. I planned it 5 months ago and was looking forward to it so much because I’m big collector of all sorts of watches. Roy or Royston, as I though his name was, who was our guide, took us to a world famous watch maker in the heart of all Swiss made watches. It was like Disney land for me, I couldn’t wish to meet a better organised tour or tour guide. You get lunch, and he is a fountain of knowledge. Roy who will take you around in the surrounding area which alone has lots of interesting history.
Well worth it!!

Thank you Dom so much for your review ! We all appreciate a positive report when my colleagues and I put a lot into a watch tour. The main thing is that you enjoyed it. It was also gratifying for me that I was able to put you with two other single visitors. Those travelling alone may be reticent to contact us but with a small wait we can put you with others for a unique experience. You don't have to be part of a couple or group ! I/we look forward to seeing you again on another watch tour !

What a perfect day. We booked this trip to Switzerland especially for my husband who loves watches and this tour provided by Roy did not disappoint, it was fantastic from start to finish. Roy picked us up from our hotel with a huge smile and is the nicest person you could meet. He made us at feel at ease and very comfortable in his company and has a great sense of humour. He has a huge wealth of knowledge about the watch industry and of this beautiful part of the country and its culture and you will learn a lot on this tour.
Roy had arranged a tour of a fantastic world renowned watch factory and we were treated to an amazing personal tour of the watch making process from start to finish. The tour started off in their museum where we were given an in depth history of the company by a wonderful young man with a great enthusiasm for the history of the watches they make.
Roy took us to lunch in a beautiful hotel and the meal we had was fabulous. After lunch Roy took us to the International Museum of Horology where we were given time to look through the exhibits, this is another must see place and we would definitely visit again.
We then headed back to Neuchâtel with a stop for a view of the alps on the way. As we wanted to buy a Swiss watch Roy took us to a lovely shop in the town where we were able to purchase a wonderful watch with a discount which was very appreciated.
We would definitely come back here again and book this tour with Roy. He made this a fantastic day for us and it has been the highlight of our trip. Thank you so much for today.

It's so good to read such a review from two lovely visitors. Travelling all the way from Australia they were a pleasure to take on a Day Tour here ! We strive to provide a day that not only shows where and how fine mechanical watches are made in the region but also to immerse them in the history and culture of "horology". Taking into consideration their particular interest we tailor the day by choosing a suitable factory and can do so on any working week day.Watch enthusiasts want to know which manufacturers are the most authentic ones and whose watch (or watches!) they should buy. Using our experience and knowledge we facilitate a purchase (should they want to buy) which is always with a discount and for export the VAT will be deducted too! So what better way to buy a watch from a manufacturer you just visited?

I honestly would have given the Swiss Watch Tour 6 stars instead of the perfect 5 if I could. We were a family of four from Manila, Philippines traveling to Europe for the first time and after a quick and easy correspondence with Roy, we decided to put Neuchatel as a 3-Day stop on our itinerary. The Swiss Watch Tour was a gift to my husband who is a complete watch enthusiast and we honestly didn't know what to expect upon arrival (first time in Switzerland as well).
First and foremost, Neuchatel is gorgeous. It's a beautiful place with amazing people so that alone was worth the travel.
Next, upon meeting Roy, he was a kind, sweet and extremely friendly gentleman who picked us up from the hotel in his lovely, comfortable car and began to share his historical knowledge (both watch-related and general) about the area as soon as we started to drive. He took us to the headquarters of a premium and very well-known brand (as high class as you can get because I wasn't very familiar with watches but I definitely knew this one) and we then met with a senior staff member of the company. I didn't expect to really be enthralled since, as I mentioned, I'm not a watch enthusiast like my husband, but they made it quite engaging to the point that my two young kids were enjoying every minute of it. To see the quality control and the handiwork put into every piece up close was quite fascinating. To learn about the history behind the company was my favorite part (if any) and I have found a deeper appreciation for timepieces after this experience.
I've been on a lot of tours in my life and the meals that come along with them are usually sub par but the lunch Roy treated us to was exceptional. By far the best meal of our trip to Switzerland! The biggest bonus was how Roy was also able to help us source the watches that we were hoping to purchase on this trip at the very last minute. They were both sold out in many stores here in Switzerland but he managed to contact the right people and the limited edition pieces would up in our hands at the end of the day with the best price possible.

First and foremost, Neuchatel is gorgeous. It's a beautiful place with amazing people so that alone was worth the travel.
Next, upon meeting Roy, he was a kind, sweet and extremely friendly gentleman who picked us up from the hotel in his lovely, comfortable car and began to share his historical knowledge (both watch-related and general) about the area as soon as we started to drive. He took us to the headquarters of a premium and very well-known brand (as high class as you can get because I wasn't very familiar with watches but I definitely knew this one) and we then met with a senior staff member of the company. I didn't expect to really be enthralled since, as I mentioned, I'm not a watch enthusiast like my husband, but they made it quite engaging to the point that my two young kids were enjoying every minute of it. To see the quality control and the handiwork put into every piece up close was quite fascinating. To learn about the history behind the company was my favorite part (if any) and I have found a deeper appreciation for timepieces after this experience.
I've been on a lot of tours in my life and the meals that come along with them are usually sub par but the lunch Roy treated us to was exceptional. By far the best meal of our trip to Switzerland! At Swiss watch tours the office staff and the other guides all strive to make every watch tour a great experience so really appreciate you writing this about the day when I was the guide. It was an absolute pleasure taking you,your husband and such well behaved children to the factory and with them for the rest of the day.

Yes. As mentioned, the train trip is about an hour each way (quite scenic) from Geneva to Neuchatel. If pressed for time, you can visit the Patek museum in Geneva instead, along with visits to several high end watch stores (Breguet, Vacherons, etc) instead.

from Swiss watch tours - thanks for your interest. There are Day Tours available for a minimum of two visitors from Swiss francs 295 each all inclusive. There is a visit to a factory, lunch, sight seeing of other watch manufacturers and a two hour visit to a museum.
