Took a day trip from Bangkok, which is around 3.5 hours. Located off the mainstream places to visit in Kanchanaburi province. The first cave is very nice and easy to reach. To get to the larger open cave, you will need to hike up 2.5 km up the mountain, the first half is very gradual while the second half is much steeper. Some nice waterfalls along the way but due to covid, you can't swim.
There is a camping site where one can rent tents and other equipment.
There is a 8 km trail that requires a guide and overnight camping. Sadly it is now closed due to covid.

From Tham Than Lot Noi, there is a walkway to Tham Than Lot Yai, a distance of about 2 kilometers. It looks like a natural bridge and is beautiful. In addition, there is evidence that this area is an ancient human burial ground. from the discovery of a large number of skeletons

NICE place! Very cool caves with plenty of bats. Pretty waterfalls. Butterflies are abundant. Heard lots of birds, but didn't see many. Very well maintained with clean and tidy restrooms. Prepare to do ALOT of walking/hiking, as vehicles must be left at the car park near the entrance.

We visited this park on a day trip from Kanchanaburi (a one and half hour drive from there), on a wet day in May. Consequently the park was very empty, and ours was the only car in car park. There is a small visitor centre and the usual places to eat. Entrance to park is 200 THB each. The walk up to Tan Lod Yai Cave (ถำ้ธารรลอดใหญ่) is one of the best and interesting in the various parks we have visited in Thailand. It begins near the camp site and starts by going though a quite long cave. It is necessary to stoop to get through part of the tunnel, but the surface is pretty secure, and the cave is lit (but only till 16:00). The path proceeds through the jungle, eventually reaching a series of waterfalls, of which the top one is quite spectacular. The lower ones are not. There are many steps to climb (total of about 350m ascent), and some sections are very slippery on wobbly old wooden stairs. Later, the stairs are more substantial, but are steep and quite slippery in the wet. After about 2 hours you reach the top 'big cave', which is not really a cave but a huge arch. Its a spectacular place and worth the hike. We proceeded on through the arch with the vague intent of making it a circular hike. About 10 minutes on from the cave you reach what we think is a small monastery (?), where there is a road leading off. We followed the road for 30 minutes, as the 'map' near the visitor centre implied that a road looped back round to the start. However, the GPS showed that we were getting further away, so we turned around and returned back by same route.

Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park is reported to be Thailand's smallest. Is this one reason it gets few visitors from other countries? The park preserves a beautiful slice of Thailand's jungle-karst country. There is an excellent trail that starts not far from the visitor centre. The trail goes through Than Lot Noi Cave - a 300 m natural tunnel with some nice rock formations and a stream. The cave is lit until 4 pm. The trail through the jungle is then fairly easy until Tri Treung waterfall, a pretty but not outstanding Thai jungle waterfall. After that the trail becomes quite a bit more strenuous until it reaches Than Lot Yai Cave. This is really a natural arch through a limestone wall. It is a spectacular sight indeed and makes all of the effort worthwhile. To hike from the visitor to Than Lot Yai Cave and back takes about three hours at a sensible pace. It is best to start in the morning as the lights in Than Lot Noi cave go out at 4 pm! It is about 80 km from Kanchanaburi to the Park, so it makes a good day trip. I saw only one other farrang while I was there, but there were a lot of Thai visitors, as it was a public holiday.
