Travelling in my own country to the most southern part of the Peninsular Malaysia. A journey from the city of Johor Bahru to Tanjung Prai in town of Pontian is worth stopping by if you have an extra time. The journey takes about 1 1/2 hour go late afternoon to avoid the afternoon heat, the place closes at 5pm but you can still walk around the place after closing. Entrance fee is RM5 per adult.

There were many plastic containers and wrappers in the swampy area along the walkway. A few of the planks on the walkway were no longer safe to be walked upon. On the other hand, the parking area for cars is ample and there were many signposts around this park. Being Asia southern-most point, the authorities in-charge of Tanjung Piai should be diligent to monitor and continue to upgrade the area to make it one of the top destination not to be missed by local and international visitors.

To appreciate the location, see the map. The Asia continents mainland (so exclude islands of Indonesia) extends to the Malay Peninsular. This is the southernmost tip.

There is a pier with a metal globe that you can proudly take picture to mark your “Iv been there” experience. You can watch the ships go by in the distant.

There is a walkway built on a mangrove swamp for you to experience the swamp jungle. If you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of monkeys above and the mud crabs below.

There is a small entrance fee.

Famed as the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, this park provides an extensive walkway for nature lovers to have a good walk among mangrove swamps as well as the seafront facing Singapore.

Good place for school students to get close to nature as well as learn about mud clams, snakes, water iguanas etc.

A must-go for everyone regardless of age. Fees are very reasonable, ranging from RM3 - RM5. Lots of nice sceneries to admire. Photographers will love this place.

This is the best place to come after a long week sitting in your office staring at your PC. It has numerous varieties of mangrove based trees with other little creatures and is a good place to learn about nature. A good place to take nice pictures. Please go early morning as you could feel the heat by 11am itself.

the place is quite a drive from the highway exist, but pleasant and enjoyable. The national park is not far (15 minutes drive away) from shops and restaurant.

I camped a night in the park and it was peaceful, quiet and nice. Clean toilet and with a bucket for cold water shower if you want.

It was approximately 1.5 hours from Johor Bahru centre to Tanjung Piai National Park. Entrance fees were MYR5 and MYR3 for adult and children respectively. I wanted to show to my children the spot where my grandparents were first arrived in Malaysia, migration from Indonesia, in 1915. This area has a jetty which located facing an Indonesian island called Pulau Kerimon and Singapore on the left hand side. We have enjoyed our little trip to this national park, as we walked through the mangrove and observed the monkeys, birds and others. We also would like to congratulate Johor National Parks Corporation for their efforts in maintaining this special tourist site. Keep up the good work!

This place is a hidden gem at the Southern tip of the Malaysian mainland peninsula. The place touts itself as being the southern most tip of the mainland Asian continent, which it technically is, but that would not be the only reason to go there. It is a very well preserved and accessible mangrove forest/swamp in a very scenic setting. The walking ramps and viewing decks are not intrusive and is conducive to lingering (unless of course you are there just for the instagram photo or to say 'been there, done that'). The critter and other swamp life can be observed quietly. It did rain while we were there but that only added to the ambience. The area has a lot of potential, but hope it retains its closeness to nature. As for it being dirty, most of the rubbish especially the plastics in the swamp which are probably washed there from afar is a reminder of the damage we are causing.

Am quite impressed with this park - nice boardwalk into the mangrove swamp, interesting critters to look out for and many instagram-worthy spots. Luckily the weather was cloudy and breezy when we went, otherwise it will be quite hot. Expect to see garbage around as commented by other reviewers; but this was brought in by the waves from the sea, not due to littering from visitors. This piece of information could be found at the visitor's centre but unfortunately it was written in Malay. One would think they should have such info in English as well.

A good place to check out if you are in the area.

To get there you can take a taxi from Kukup. The entrance fee for non-Malaysian citizens is much higher than for Malaysians (see pic attached).
The park has boardwalks going through the mangrove swamp so you need not get your shoes muddy. The extensive mangrove forests are a beautiful sight to behold but the scenery is marred by the plastics and other rubbish littering the ground. Wildlife we saw included rare dusky leaf monkeys, various species of amphibious mudskipper fish, tree-climbing crabs, fiddler crabs, ice-cream coronet snails, nerite snails, chut chut and creeper snails, mud lobster mounds, mangrove skinks, shore and wading birds. There is also a marker at the southernmost point on the mainland of the continent of Asia, located at the end of one of the boardwalks. There is a similar claim made on an island off Sentosa in Singapore but I think the Tanjong Piai location is more valid. Bring mosquito repellent, rain coat, water, binoculars camera, and plan to spend 2 hours there.
