A bit disappointed with what I saw when I arrived at the village for the first time. The site needs a massive upgrade and should've been taking care more to get more people to come since post-pandemic.

I don’t know why they us here. Japanese Village without any sign reflecting Japan tradition except one room in the middle of the rocks. A big disappointment.

I went to Berjaya Hill on the Saturday of the last two weeks, 15-07-2023. The entrance fee cost RM 14 per adult, which we considered okay if the place was well-maintained. We stopped at the Japanese Village first and found that it was not properly maintained, with some sections closed or looking abandoned. The most frustrating thing was the photograph section located at the Japanese Village's main entrance.

Upon attempting to enter the Japanese Village, we were stopped by four Malay youngster photographers. They stood in a line, trying to prevent us from passing the entrance and insisted on taking free photos, but we politely declined. However, they persisted in offering us free photos despite our rejections. Eventually, we had to firmly decline again, saying we didn't want any photos even if they were free. We thanked them and walked away. Suddenly, one of the young photographers scolded us from behind, saying, "buat bodoh jer." My friend confronted the guy and asked why he said that. We had already declined the offer, so there was no reason for him to treat us rudely. He remained silent and didn't offer any apology. We felt disappointed to have spent RM 14 each to visit the place and then be treated so disrespectfully by the workers there. It was a letdown.

This Japanese Village is located further uphill from the Colmar Tropicale Hotel, and one can get there via the hotel's free hourly shuttle bus service, or you can even drive there yourself (which takes approx. 8 to 10 mins).

If there's one area of improvement which I would rather highlight, it's regarding the timing of the shuttle buses that ferry guests to the nearby Japanese Village. The buses, which can carry up to around 25 to 30 passengers, only operate on an hourly basis, which I felt was too low (esp. during peak hours e.g. during the morning period). Other than this, I could say that overall I have had an enjoyable stay here. The breakfast here was quite ok too.

If you visit or stay at Colmar Tropicale, suggest taking a shuttle bus to come here. The parking space here is small. Make sure you are fit enough to hike 88 steep steps & walk the hills. Careful also with the wild monkey. 4/5
The atmosphere here is so peaceful, tranquil & undisturbed. Clean & looks well retained. 5/5
However, some of the suites in the garden are abandoned. The lack of signage caused some visitors to wonder & lose their way. Fortunately, the area is not so big. 3/5
If you want to feel like you're in Japan, you can stroll around the park in traditional kimono for a rental of RM20. The staff are friendly & happy to serve the guests. 5/5

Definitely worth a visit. The area is not big, but required some hiking. During peak time might have trouble looking for a parking space. Overall quite well maintained.

Nothing beats eating an ice-cream at the peak :D

Whole experience 1/5.
Overall looks run down. Garden wasn't as nice as before. Lots of weeds. No nice flowers or unique plants. Looks like someone's backyard garden. Only 1 rubbish bin provided near kimono rental hut. Saw a few rubbish everywhere. Can purchase RM 1 fish food. it was packed in a red ang pow packet. There was a hut to rest beside the fish pond but it looks dirty. I don't think it was sanitised.

Amenities- Souvenir shop is closed and looks abandon. Public toilet available at car park but looks bad.

Accessibility - 1/5 . Be prepared to walk few flights of steep steps from car park to a small road, then walk another 5 mins to Japanese Village. It's not friendly for senior citizens.
It would be nice if management allow visitors car to drive up to main area for drop pick up and drop off.

The whole garden is not maintained and run downed. Might be due to MCO. They she should not have opened it to the public. Nothing to see. Just like walking through a jungle. The gardens are no longer beautiful. I think its just a waste if time to go there. Didn't even take a single photo. Place is so bad.

It's about a 3 km hike uphill from Colmar Tropicale and is driveable by car. There's a steep walk to the entrance. The gardens are beautiful. Many of the structures are dated and well-worn. You can rent a kimono for taking photos but would caution with the cleanliness in light of Covid-19.

Be happy to be there and don't expect too much, you will enjoy your visit. Japanese Village just only rocks to climb up and down, few ponds of fish, not much to see. Anyway, we enjoyed our time taking photos.
