Nanga Parbat is the highest mountain in Pakistan visible from a road or village. The top of K2 is not visible because it is more internal. The Nanga Parbat can be seen very well from the last village located at the bottom of the Astore valley. In recent days we have been fortunate on average because initially the mountain was completely covered by clouds, but later in the afternoon the sky cleared not allowing God to see the imposing mountain clearly.

This beautiful area is suffering an irresponsible tourist development that threatens the ecological equilibrium. The Fairy Meadows are not a "fairy" meadows anymore, but a bunch of Hotels that caters for noisy crowds of local tourists. The local forest suffered the demand for wood and there is garbage everywhere. It is a shame because this valley it is really magical. What it should be a hiker heaven, it is a tourist trap. I suggest to go to Beyal Camp, it is basic but for those who like lonely walks, shepherd culture and enjoy nature sounds it is a better choice.

Visited Nanga perbat with friends. It was nice. Long tracking toward fairy meadows then towards nanga perbat. Views were awesome. Beautiful weather. People were nice too but they just need cash for everything lol. Even we played cricket and they demand for cash. Bought a. Cup of tea with biscuits. They ask for 500 lol
Otherwise everything was kool. Would love to visit again

Nanga Parbat is the only eight thousanders out of five that falls in Himalyan Range, all the other falls in Karakorum Range, that is why the area surrounding Nanga is green fairy meadows and Rupal valley both, from raikot bridge its crazy jeep ride for about 1.5 hours to Tatto then 4 hours hike to fairy meadows, few hours to Beyal camp and if any one is up for adventure then few hours from beyal is the base camp after crossing the glacier , i did that solo, if you are lucky nanga parbat at full moon from base camp is site to be hold, absolutely magical,
do not go in June & July due to local tourism its all cramped up , August and September would be appropriate time here

Fairy meadows, one of the easiest approach to this 8000 meters peak, the killer and savage mountain of Himalayas, located in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Normally it's a 3/4 days trip from Gilgit to the base camp and back,
2 hrs drive from Gilgit city to Raikot bridge, where-from a jeep drive would take you to Fairy point 2 hrs drive on a bumpy and adventurous road and then 3 hrs trek to Fairy meadows at 3300 meters and one could see this Himalayan giant from the window of the room.
The base camp is located at 3900 meters, some 5 to 7 hrs trek from fairy meadows and back.
While visiting the area please keep a few things in your mind.
The female trekkers/travelers please cover yourself properly, as it's sunni dominant area so please respect the local culture.
Please avoid photographing the women especially at Beyal camp, where you'd come across the local shepherd families.
Please discourage the bonfire , as the pine forests are getting thinner day by day due to increase in the number of tourists to this area.
Safe travels ..

This will life long trek if you choose to take the 3 day trail to Nanga Parbat base camp. Vertical Explorers took great care of us and I would recommend them as your outfitter.

Nanga Parbat is one of the eight-thousanders and is notoriously difficult climb. However, the basecamp is very approachable and people with average fitness can reach the basecamp. Fairy Meadows is a famous tourist spot a few kilometres down the basecamp.

hey MuneerA34, do you know roughly how many days would i need to get from islamabad to nanga parbat basecamp, and then back to islamabad? also - do you think i can get a map and hike the trail myself or would it be essential to have a guide? regards
Skrevet 20. februar 2022
I did the trip by plane from Islamabad to Gilgit so add 1 day going and another one returning. If you go by road, you must add 2 days more. To reach the Nanga Parbat base camp you will need at least 3 days from Raikot bridge going and returning.
So, resuming if you go by plane, you will need 5 days, if you go by road, 7 days.
If you are from Pakistan, you can do it by yourself with the help of a GPS but if you are a foreigner you will have to go with a local policeman.

I and my wife are planning to to go to fairymeadows and from there to nanga Parbat base camp in early July. I would like to know the following please
how difficult is the trek to fairy meadows and from there to the base camp. Is it a steep climb or gradual. Our only experience in climbing is Miranjani mountain in Nathi gali (3000 m. Total track length 4.6 km and elevation of 600 m) which we did in about 5 hours going up and down and did not find it very difficult
can you do the base camp walk from fairy meadows in one day or do you need to stay overnight. If so are there accommodations available
Are there any facilities along the way
What would be the weather like in early July. What clothes we need to take. Would there be rain or snow
Does one need any special hiking equipment
Is it safe for two people to go up to base camp
THANKS

I did this trek almost 20 years ago, so the information I provide is probably not reliable. The distance from Raikot Bridge to Fairymeadows is very tiring and it is advisable to travel by a jeep. Fairymeadows to the basecamp is not steep and the round trip is possible in a day.

Is it safe for a group of 55 people (girls included) to come to fairy meadows at this time when there is tension in diamer ? (Current situation of diamer)
Skrevet 7. august 2018
very safe for girls. Personally we have traveled with children and girls. No need of any guide. The route is straight and only goes to Fairymeadows. You will need porter and horses if you are not used of trekking. On foot it takes almost 3-4 hours for ordinary people.
