You reach the beginning of the Pardines road, along the Les Cortals d'Encamp road to the paid parking. The path is easy, without slopes or dangers for children, it is suitable for people with disabilities. It ends at Engolasters Lake where you have multiple activities, restaurants and hiking trails. Highly recommended and it is 15 minutes from Escaldes.

Engolasters Lake - Les Pardines Path is a tourist place located in Encamp Parish, in Andorra Country. It is a tourist place to come with all family, where you can see this artificial lake (created in the middle of the 20th Century to obtain electricity in a plant located about 350 meters below from this point) surrounded by trees and nature. In fact, you can walk around all lake on two walk paths. It is a good place to do a pique-nique for all family. In fact, you can park the car in Les Pardines Parking and walk from here in a very easy path, from where you can see a little chapel and views of the main valley in Andorra. To come with children and elder. And also there is a bar/restaurant close to the lake.
On the other hand, it is too touristy and there are some other more beautiful lakes in the country.
(See also Lago de Engolasters, Camí Llac Engolasters, Camí de les Pardines, Lago de Engolasters and Llac i Cel)

Hi, I will be visiting Andorra in 3 weeks time, may I know if it is ok to hike during winter month? Any tips or comments are welcomed. May I know the actual address to park the car and begins the trail walk? This is for GPS purposes as I do not want to get lost especially travelling with 3 teenagers. Thanks!

Hi
The GPS co ordinates are 42degrees 31' 11" N 1degree 34' 07"E/ 42.5197, 1.56861
When I last went up there a couple of months ago, the water had been emptied for maintenance work.
There are many walks through and around there though so plenty still to see.
There are several ways to get there. You can walk or drive up from Just above Andorra La Vella at Encamp and that takes you straight into the car park by the lake, or you can take a really lovely scenic route driving up the road on the right just after the Encamp Gondola, called the Funicamp.
You can pay to travel with the skiers on the Funicamp lift if you like it is one of the longest lifts in Europe and takes half an hour. You can get off at the halfway stage and have a walk out there, beautiful but depends on the weather. You can then get the lift again up to the top for a drink in the mountain restaurant, though all there is up there are skiers and more skiers but amazing views.
If you drive under the Funicamp to get to Engolaster then
Upon arriving at the car park there is a 3 or 4'kilometre stroll on a flat walkway to get to the lake.
Very little is flat inAndorra and this is a pleasant walk. The drive from Encamp which takes you under the Funicamp ski gondola is weather dependant but beautiful views all the way.
If you want to hike in Andorra in the winter I would recommend renting snow shoes and poles.. All the best walks are often above the snow line, and snow shoeing is great fun to learn and brilliant exercise to tire teenagers out.
However if I was bringing teenagers to Andorra I would suggest getting them into ski lesson as skiing is the greatest fun for all ages.
Another suggestion, if the roads are clear there is a walk from Sorteney above El serrat which isn't too difficult, again weather dependant and probably best to put snow shoes on, but a walk to the right through a beautiful valley takes you to a mountain hut where you can pay to spend the night I the most glorious scenery, a fantastic experience.
I have found the Tourist Information in the parish of La Massana, to be very helpful, they speak English too. They sell a book of hikes and walks for about €5 or so, or more detailed maps for a little more. Finding your way, even with maps is a challenge!
However care must be taken hiking in the mountains of Andorra in the winter. A backpack is a good idea, take water a phone, clothes for any weather eventuality - sun protection sun glasses, extra warm clothes a little food.
You can download a free app called Alpify, which alerts the authorities should you need any serious help in any situation in the mountains.
I walk in the mountains all the time the winter but they must be respected.
Another walk, not too high up and easily accessible is the Iron Walk which is a flat walk by an iron mine ( the mine is closed in the winter I believe) but it takes you by a small sculpture park. The hotel at the car park called La Neu I think, does reaonable priced food and drinks and is very pleasant.
Head out of Ordino towards Arcalis ski resort and the car park is in your right after La Neu Hotel.
Ordino is a beautiful village to visit, lots of bars and cafes, and very pretty walks by the side of a stream which runs down the village.
Pal is very very pretty but very small, though still worth a visit.
Arinsal is a little more vibrant but is essentially a ski village with lots of bars and places to eat.
You will get good food at Quo's bar and hotel, and they have screens showing you videos of how skiers have enjoyed their day, great fun to join in the apres ski there, even if you haven't skied.
There are so many wonderful places, take a drive up towards the Pal ski resort but turn right away from the main ski area where the road allows, instead of left, as always if the weather permits and park where the road is closed because of the snow banked up.
Here you can rent snowmobiles, or a dog husky ride, but really the best thing is to just walk along the closed road, as long as the conditions are safe and there hasn't been dumps of snow which can cause avalanches onto the road.
I was there last Friday and walked all along it. It is one of the most beautiful walks, even though it is on a road, albeit a snow covered road.
It is called locally The SmugglersRoute because I believe it is where people used to smuggle contraband in, and it leads right to the border of Spain, a few kilometres walk, which passes under the gondola which links Arinsal to Pal. Look for the huge sculpture called Storm in a Teacup. You are on the top of the world there, yet walking on a mostly flat, often snow covered road and the views are out of this world.
You will be able to see everyone skiing too.
On your return pop along to the Ski resort of Pal,before descending to Andorra.
There is a ski lift fromLa Massana up to Pal, but it won't take you to the smugglers route or the tea cup.
Right I hope some of that has been helpful
Enjoy Andorra
Linda

Concernent la même activité, il serait judicieux de les réunir pour une meilleure compréhension.
La dénomination exacte en andorran est Llac d'Engolaster.
