We selected this visit from Virgin Experiences as a birthday treat. We were not disappointed.
The afternoon started with a tour of the 1st floor factory in a group of 8. The guide was extremely friendly and gave a thorough explanations of the activities and processes. The workforce were engaging and generous in displaying their work. A very enjoyable activity which lasted about 1 hour.
We then had a look around the V&A Wedgwood museum. This offered the opportunity to get a thorough understanding of the Wedgwood history and progress through the centuries. One could easily spend a couple of hours reading and listening to the displays. Excellently presented.
The final part of out visit was to have afternoon tea. This was undoubtedly the outstanding highlight of our visit. The quality of everything presented was first class. There was a wide choice of teas of the highest quality. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious.. All served on beautiful Wedgwood china. Fantastic.
You will not find a more pleasurable way to spend half a day than to visit the World of Wedgwood.

Beautiful place.. the decor is beyond gorgeous. Lovely service. We had Afternoon Tea which was lovely but I would of preferred less cakes and more sandwiches, you just get 5 small finger sandwiches which were delicious but just not enough in my opinion. The childrens little afternoon tea boxes were very impressive though and really reasonable priced. I work in a hotel and I always recommend it to all who stay that are looking for a day out.

Wow, what a day - we booked on the 10.30 factory tour, 12.00 afternoon tea, and 14.30 museum tour - Penny was our guide on both tours, and the restaurant staff and food were fantastic - i had the vegan afternoon tea, and was thoroughly impressed with everything i had - my first vegan scone and my first vegan macaron - both delicious.

We were disappointed with the service and atmosphere at the Wedgwood Tea Rooms., There’s the opportunity here to have an upmarket tea room with such beautiful China . The obviously untrained staff were scruffy, broken biscuits on display , a wait of ten minutes for two coffees when there were three staff not doing anything, cake crumbs on the floor . It lacks finess and comfort .

Voucher for the visit bought by family for Christmas 2020 for my husband and I. Pottery session was very good and interesting and Sam was an excellent teacher. Pots will be fired and forwarded to us. Tour of the factory and the talents of the employees which we witnessed were amazing. Our guide for the tour was Penny who made the whole tour so interesting. A walk around the museum is a must as to see the various patterns and designs which have been produced over the years was worth seeing. The day culminated in the most exceptional afternoon tea. The choice and quality of the sandwiches, scones, rhubarb brulee and the cakes was first class together with as much tea as you wanted all served on Wedgwood china. All in all an excellent day and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

It was my first time visiting wedgewoods and upon first impressions it looked amazing and the initial service was great, although this didn’t last long.
We booked afternoon tea for 3. I am not a huge tea fan but thought I’d give one a try. When taking our order the lady told us that she’d pop back round to see if I was okay with the tea and to take further refreshment orders if we needed it, it was unlimited tea after all. The food & drinks came, which I must add was very mediocre for the cost of £30pp. After well over an hour at the table, a while with empty glasses and teapots and no body to ask for more I got up and went to the bar to order myself a glass of coke. It was 16:55, 5 minutes before closing. The lady refused to serve me as “the tills are off”, although I’m not sure why this mattered as I wanted it adding to my total bill, not to pay there and then.Thirsty, unimpressed and confused as how me and a cafe full of people were supposed to pay for their food if “the tills are off” I went back to my table where we decided it was time to leave.
We went to a different till to pay and we wanted to pay part cash part card. The lady informed us she’d have to take us to the other till (the till that’s supposedly turned off) as she didn’t take cash at her till. After stating that we were just told that one was closed after wanting to order a drink the lady told me I would’ve been refused service as they have to close down the BARISTA machine to be cleaned. I told the lady I only wanted a coke and she admitted to me that it shouldn’t have been a problem and there’s no reason the other lady couldn’t have served me!! She also said that we probably should have been made aware of when we could last order drinks even though it was her self who seated us and served us. I’m also not sure if that should make a difference anyway when it was table service and in the space of nearly an hour and a half no one asked us if we needed more drinks.
After just deciding to put the entire bill on my card we left only to walk past the original lady who refused my drinks order serving a gentleman on the till she’d just told me was turned off!!
So in conclusion for £30pp I would expect drop dead gorgeous food &/or impeccable service and im afraid wedgewoods ticked neither of them boxes.

Visited the clay studio where you are shown how to throw a clay pot and have a go yourself on a potters’ wheel. Sam, our teacher was brilliant, knowledgeable and engaging. Being a huge fan of Keith Breymer and The Great Pottery Throwdown, I was keen to get stick in and, much to everyone’s surprise I was a natural! Managed to throw three different designs in my allotted time, one of which is part of the price and my wife decided we should buy the other two for £7.50 each. They wait for the pots to dry out then fire them and send them out in the post. To sum up, I would recommend this experience to everyone.

We booked the trial 15 minute 'throw a pot' and it was great - well organised and ran to time. We then had brunch in the restaurant and the good was good, service was good. We then spent some money in the factory shop - great day out!

We had a tea for two purchased for us as a birthday gift and we did only visit the tea room so this review only relates to that.
The tea room itself is impressive as soon as you walk in.
Shown to our pre booked table immediately and then left for a short while to s peruse the menu additional to the tea for two.
We had only a little wait, sorted out what we wanted and sat back.
A pot of tea arrived almost immediately. However the sandwiches, cakes etc took some time and by that time most of the tea had gone.
The sandwiches etc and their presentation were excellent and the food overall couldn't have been better.
Half way through and we needed another pot of tea, it did say on the menu that the tea was endless, as much as we wanted.
The second pot still hadn't arrived some 20 minutes after asking so we asked again.
Another 15 minutes plus and still no tea.
By this time we were getting to the point where we had to leave as we needed to be somewhere else so we left.
A shame, as the whole experience was excellent, apart from the tea shortage, the reason for a 4 rating.
If you come here looking for a meal then you will probably be disappointed quantity wise but it's an excellent experience and we will probably be back again next year as a birthday treat.

Why have a number of pieces of my Wedgwood set sprung apart Are they seconds Is it a known fault

I suggest you contact Wedgwood, as a customer I can't comment on quality control. Speaking from my own experience Wedgwood is extremely strong and must have been subjected to some force to break. I have used my Wedgwood daily for the last 20 years with only a couple of minor chips that were my fault. I would check the retailer for authentication.

Hi all, we are planning to visit London soon. We’re thinking of also doing World of Wedgwood (factory tour, museum, decorate, afternoon tea).
What would be the fastest way FROM/TO London? Possible to do it as a DAY TRIP?
TIA
Sorry about the delayed reply.
The quickest way from London on public transport is by train from London Euston to Stoke-on-Trent which takes 90 minutes on the fastest train. Then a taxi from the train station which takes around 15 minutes, alternatively you could take the number 14 bus service to Barlaston and then it's a 20 minute walk. I hope this helps you to plan your visit, you can find more information on our website.

You can get a bus to Wedgewood Drive, Barlaston but then you would have to walk appropriately another 20mins to get to the Wedgewood Museum. This information is on the wedgewood website under their opening times/visit us page. I hope that helps :)

Hello, can anyone advise me how to recognise Wedgewood Seconds Chinaware.
Dieithryn
Bangor, UK474 bidrag
Wedgwood mark their wares Seconds in the following ways:
Scratch through the back stamp
G2 Etched into the back of the piece
Green dots (Please note some unscrupulous dealers remove these using T cut especially on Jasper ware you can tell if this has been done if the base looks unusually clean and the imprint Wedgwood is blurry instead of clear)
Dints in the backstamp.
No backstamp at all.
S/S means special run of kiln for the Wedgwood Shops ie Shop Saleware.

Can I buy tickets when I get there?
Karen P
Hornchurch, UK147 bidrag
Yes, you can but it will be more expensive and if you want to have a factory tour or any other hands on activity you will need to book tickets in advance. We had an 'experience' as a Christmas Gift, which included coffee/or tea on arrival, lunch, factory tour, clay pot making ( which is fired and sent on to you) as well as design and decorating a plate ( the small plate is included in the deal and it is possible to take it away) - the experience is good value for money and this also gives you a year membership to return again without cost. There is a cafe and restaurant and outside seating. Worth a visit however you do it.
