I gave a lower score because 1) Although it is sealed, it is a very long drive to get there; and 2) when you do get there, the road to the actual cape lookout is closed. Although the fish hatchery and the beach lookout at One Arm Point is there, without also being able to drive to the very top of the cape, which people have told me is spectacular, is the 2.5hr drive each way worth it? We'd packed a picnic lunch from Broome and enjoyed it overlooking a lovely ocean view at One Arm Point. We were there for a change of tide and could see a very rapid flow of water going past into King Sound. The peacefulness was most enjoyable, but the experience could perhaps be achieved in areas closer to Broome. Another drawcard is the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. We hadn't intended going as we thought it would be too commercial. We did go and were surprised by how relaxed the place was. We didn't know you could stay there. A good atmosphere indeed. And yes, you can do the boat tour of the pearl farm and attend a talk on pearls and jewelry. But you didn't have to. Unless you have a good 4WD, the first stop to see history is Beagle Bay which is 1hr 40mins from Broome. Then another hour to One Arm Point.

You can only access the now closed Cape Leveque if you book a tagalo g tour with one of the local Aboriginal chaps.

The resort / caravan park has gone to ruin. But the tour will take you to sime amazing beaches and creeks that you can't usually experience unless you're a native.

Stay local at Lombadina or Cygnet Bay & book a tour otherwise you cant experience much of the peninsular at all.

Very disappointed that it was closed for whatever reason. If options had been more easily understood or accessible that would have been a concelation. It felt like a long drive to a trap of an end. Glad we had the 4wd as the Manari Rd had plenty of great beach access without fuss. I would skip Cape Leveque Rd next time. Probably should have researched more but expected more of an adventure in your own backyard experience.

Access still prohibited.

The Visitor center doesn't even mention it when you ask about the condition of the peninsula's slopes.

Road up great, cygnet bay caravan park ok but overpriced.Otherwise too many places, including Cape Leveque, closed.Reasons for that were 'flood damage' but political segregation is prominent.dissapointing

You can get a more scenic and peaceful place like cape leveque. There is 200 km of sealed road now. The problem is the last 7 km is 4 x 4 only and it means it! Sandy way in. Just love the red cliffs

Yes - this is Australia that we love and treasure - beautiful scenery of beaches and coastline.

We came and saw in 2015 and wanted to show our 3year old this time around.

However - Broome and its surroundings have plenty of similar natural pleasures to show - like Quandong Point or cable Beach that it more than equal to experience.

It's sad to see that under the cover of indigenous ownership the operators find it excusable to charge a $20 per person plus $5 for the little one to walk the beach. That wasn't the case in 2015 as far as we remember and puts a damper on our 2 hours trip from Broome to visit Cape Leveque.

You can have a coffee and visit the scenery from their balcony if you don't like to be part of a rib-off - however we like to thank the real traditional owners for inviting us at the start of your road in with that sign post and we certainly enjoyed the view onto your land. To the operators- please put a price tag under that sign for visitors to be aware of - thanks

Not worth the effort. Scenery is ok but not as good as Gantheume Point. Beaches are average
And no where near as good as Cable beach.. A long list of areas you are not allowed to go because they are "significant" but guess what, if you are prepared to pay for a tour gguide they are not quite so "significant". Oh this is after you pay $20 per person to walk down to the beach by the way. Will not be rushing back

Don't get me wrong, Cape Leveque is a nice enough spot, but it just isn't worth the drive up there. We were booked into a "camp ground unit" at Kooljiman and other than the last 3km it was sealed road all the way. The issue was that there were no other roads off the main road you were allowed to go down, so it was a long way to travel for a mediocre setting at the end. Covid-19 means that you are not even allowed to get to the end of One Arm point or any of the other settlements on the way.
At Kooljiman we paid $200 for a unit next to the campsite toilet block (think shed). Although it looked clean enough we awoke in the middle of the night with multiple cockroaches crawling over us!
The 2 course dinner was a little expensive at $45 each but was actually very good
Overall, I would say don't bother going up as the scenery at the end of the road is just not worth it!
I understand why the local residents up the Cape don't want a load of tourist going down their roads but if they don't get the balance better people will just not bother and take their $$ elsewhere.
