I was here again in the spring of 2020. Entrance to the art galleries downstairs is free. New collections go on show each month, so its always worth a visit. Artworks by Jenny Wilson were in the Conservatory Gallery. Very bold colours, very bright, high-contrast work. Landscapes with sweeps of burning red and orange, purple headlands, or slabs of green light from a window. Happily the curator is on hand who knows the artists and can fill in the background on the painter and their pictures.

It's free to go in and have a nosey. I don't know much about art, they have different rooms full of pictures from some painters. Modern stuff and local things, very good actually, worth a look.

I had a very enjoyable visit here. The gallery now hosts different shows in different rooms. Cynthia, the curator, is there in person, and was happy to tell me more about what was currently on show. One room had the last-ever public exhibition of a set of black and white photographs taken at Auschwitz. They were present-day images, with a few tourists in some of the images. This may be the most haunting place on Earth to see, and the views selected were arresting. In the front room of the Edwardian building I was very interested to see that Cynthia had painted the actual walls - a great idea - with plant designs. Her own giant canvases of stylised bats and giraffes are wonderfully colourful. Out the back is the Conservatory Gallery, which had a new show by a local artist. Each month the exhibits change, so its worth returning regularly. Free entry.

I first visited this lovely and unusual gallery for a friend's art exhibition and returned a week later with family. Both times Cynthia the owner could not have been more welcoming. Her gallery which is also her home is an Aladdin's cave of beautiful art in the setting of a gorgeous Victorian home. Would highly recommend a visit

I visited yesterday, and I really was taken by the paintings by James MacIntyre. He had painted places like Roundstone that I know, and I liked his way of depicting them. He was my favourite from an exhibition of three artists, the others were George Campbell and Gerard Dillon.

I really enjoyed visiting The Gallery Whitehead. Entry to the art galleries is free. Cynthia, the curator, knows the artists behind the works on show, so do ask her about the ones you like. I was very interested by what she told me about a watercolour sketch called "Roundstone Harbour" by Gerard Dillon. There are often mixed shows in one room, with pictures by several artists, and a solo show further on in the Conservatory Gallery. While Cynthia shows paintings by renowned artists like James Macintyre or George Campbell, she’s also very good at promoting brand new artists. This gives the gallery a pleasing mix of old and new art, with different styles in many media. Each month the solo show changes, so its always worth taking a look.

Called in, the Andrew McClean exhibition was on. The trees reminded me of those by Bob Ross, on TV. Nice, colourful skies. Some elongated sheep, bright cottages, textured hay stacks. Cynthia, the owner, was very patient. As we talked, along with another artist friend of mine, I kept being distracted halfway through every sentence by the next picture!

Every month there is a new show on in The Gallery Whitehead and for most of October the artist Karen Telford Shaw is showing what a prolific artist she is. There is a variety of art on show here that is next to none. It`s simply brilliant. And if you are thinking in terms of Christmas presents I would advise a visit to here asap as her prices are very reasonable.

Enjoyed another visit to The Gallery Whitehead. It does do one very brilliant thing. Cynthia gives new artists a chance to put on their first-ever solo exhibition. In the life of an artist that's a BIG deal. Scott McClintock's show was so much fun, and EVERYTHING sold from Peter Carton's first-ever exhibition. For this October its the turn of Karen Telford Shaw to shine, and she's put together a great collection of pictures. One quarter of her profits will be going to Hope House Ireland, a charity operation on Whitehead's sea front. Very good. The pictures include so many magnificent skies, characterful animal portraits, and lots more. Free entry, open daily noon to 5pm & Sunday 1pm to 5pm.

My husband and I visited this beautiful Edwardian House and Gallery as part of the European Heritage Open Day yesterday. We were treated to an extensive viewing of the house and artwork which showcases local artists' work. The owner Cynthia was warm and welcoming and she displays her own fantastic work in her quirky and very interesting home. I would certainly recommend a visit.
