Goat Island is a small island in Sydney Harbor, It was established in 1836, where it was used to house convicts and to quarry stone. Goat Island has some interesting relics. It also has a cafe, where you can get a cup of coffee and something to eat. Goat Island can be reached by ferry from Circular Quay, which includes a tour of the island. Goat Island is a small, but interesting island, it's worth a trip

Our guide was excellent - friendly and knowledgeable. We toured the island at an easy pace, exploring the various uses of the island over the years from early settlement til present day. It really does have a fascinating history (similar to Cockatoo Island, in that regard).
Book online via the National Parks & Wildlife Service website (tours only run a few times per month). Your ticket price includes the ferry to/from Circular Quay.

A great place to explore. The ride on the ferry on Sydney Harbour on a sunny day is heaven. There are cafes on the island to buy food and drink but prices are a bit expensive.

シドニー港の真ん中にある静かな国立公園です。島に着陸するための許可が必要なので、フェリーを利用しながら観察することがより実際的です。

As a person who loves Sydney’s colonial history and our colonial architecture, I am mortally ashamed that I didn’t realise the significance of this heritage site until a few days ago.
It was established both as a convict settlement and a quarry in 1836. It is choke full of history and colonial buildings, which include a large sandstone warehouse used to store gunpowder.
Not all the beautiful buildings date from that time though. There is, for instance, the old Harbour Masters residence, built in 1902 or 1904. Tragically it is too fragile now to allow public access.
In fact, access to the island is via ferry from Wharf 6 at Circular Quay. I purchased an adult ticket, $37.50, online and it included the return, short, ferry trip and a one and a half hour guided tour of,the island and its absolutely wonderful history.
I can’t adequately describe how thrilling this excursion was. I went with a large group on a Sunday, making a total of 25 tourists. I will go back and hope for a smaller crowd.
As I look online, it appears tours are only on Sundays and Thursday’s.but not every Sunday and only one Thursday a month.
I highly recommend this outing.

Goat Island is one of Sydney Harbour's Islands open to the public. The best way to explore the Island is to take the National Parks Wildlife Service Heritage Tour. For available dates check the Parks Service bookings can be made online. The Island has a convict heritage, ship building and also the first Water Police station. Highlights include the Queen's Magazine building which stored gunpowder. Also some sets from the TV series Water Rats.

Boarded a tall ship, had a glass of bubbly, then toured the harbour headed to Goat Island and had a guided tour of the Island. The tour is very interesting and fun.

If you can get there (restricted access) , Goat Island has great views and a lot of history. Our tour as part of the 3 islands tour was excellent- would recommend if planning to visit Goat Island.
Goat Island was also the setting for the TV series ”Water Rats“.

I joined a Tall Ships Convicts, Castles and Champagnes cruise which included a walking tour on Goat Island. The guide explained the interesting history behind the island and brought us around to see the views. There was a stage which was set up for the Foo Fighters to have their concert in 2011 with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. Other than that there is really nothing on this island. The houses are unihabited. In fact, I peered through an open window which looked into a kitchen. There was a pepper shaker on the table, dishes in the dish drainer and kitchen towels in the wall dispenser, as though people used to live here and then left in a hurry.
If not for the accompanying cruise on the tall ship, I would find the island very boring actually. Cruise - 4 stars. Goat Island itself - 3 stars.

Vi havde fundet ud af, at man kunne bestille billetter til Goat Island nytårsaften. Det kan stærkt anbefales. Dog skal man bestille det 3-4 måneder før. Men helt fantastisk udsigt til Harbour Bridge. Lidt dyr, men hvilken oplevelse.
