Barangaroo is a large, 6 hectare open parkland that runs along the foreshore of Sydney Harbour.
The best thing to do here is the Barangaroo Foreshore Walk. Starting from the Wharf Bay area, it follows the coastline, linking up with Darling Harbour. I just love this walk especially on a sunny blue-sky day, when the water sparkles.
The walking paths are wide enough to accommodate pedestrians, runners and cyclists. It’s a very easy stroll along flat paths. The paths are paved in some stretches and gravelly in others, making it suitable for pushchairs. Small kids can safely ride their little bikes and scooters here also.
When we walked this path recently, a seal swam beside us, following us most of the way. Very special.
The main natural features at Barangaroo Reserve include the new Marrinawi Cove swimming enclosure, Stargazer Lawn and The Cutaway, a cavernous exhibition space cut out of the sandstone cliff (currently closed while it’s being redeveloped).
As you get closer to King St Wharf, you will see the controversial but striking Crown Casino building. A whole string of waterside restaurants and bars run along here and you are spoilt for choice.
TIP:
An excellent way to get something extra out of Barangaroo Reserve is to book the Aboriginal Cultural Tour. I’d highly recommend it. I did it some years ago and still remember it. Perhaps the most interesting part was being shown all the different ways the native plants were used. Some were rich sources of food, but others had unexpected uses like being able to stun fish or make soap. We gained a wonderful insight into indigenous food, culture, and history.

Wonderful new park in Sydney. Beautiful walks along the shore. There is even a small swimming area. You can walk up the hill and there are great views from there. Lots of native plants and beautiful enormous rocks used in the construction. Popular with runners and joggers.

The whole area is really nice. Super restaurants and lovely, peaceful grassy open spaces with great views of the Harbour Bridge.

The reserve itself is a series of paths - very hilly wth lots of steps (although there are lifts). There is not signage that explains about any of the plants - so that was a bit disappointing. I saw a few butterflies, but no wildlife. Its just a great cool place to walk through trees with lots of massive stones. Great views of the city.

Another great area for a walk - it's a bit spoiled by the noises from the metro station construction, but other than that it's a lovely spot with great views.

A natural and landscaped space, meeting between cultures.
As surprising as it is touching
The converted cavern hosts shows and exhibitions.

A superb walk between Darling Harbor and The Rocks, allowing you to enjoy beautiful views and few people, which is more than pleasant.

This is a beautiful area, just to hang out in, the foreshore is a lovely place just to hang out, there is a protected natural swim area, and plenty of places to enjoy a picnic.

My brother and I took the Aboriginal Cultural Tour with Sam. We had an outstanding experience. We learnt so much about Barangaroo herself, the area and about Aboriginal culture, all brought to life by Sam's knowledge and passion. The reserve is beautiful, easy to stroll around and is very peaceful. I would 100% recommend this tour, we are so lucky to be able to learn about the world's oldest living culture

We (25 and 30 yo) were there for the NYE fireworks. We got there at 1pm and were sixth in the queue so managed to get a fantastic spot. Security was good.
Perfect number of people, enough to make an excellent atmosphere but noone pushing or standing on our picnic mat. DJ and band were brilliant, fireworks were breathtaking; never seen anything like it, they filled the ENTIRE sky.
The lights on the bridge are on the eastern side so even though we had a great view of the bridge, we didn't see the lights (this didn't ruin anything, we had a prime view of the fireworks off the barge in the water instead). Lots of good food and drink options although we brought a massive picnic so didn't use them. Loads of toilets, always clean without long queues. Lots of family games and drinking water all for free.
Absolutely no shade or shelter so if it's very sunny or rainy make sure you're prepared! It's a long day to stand or sit on ground but we had low lying beach chairs so were very comfy... The hill is quite steep though so be careful your drinks dont run down the hill.
If you want a stress free, prime view spot for the Fireworks then book here... Incredible day, brilliant value for money. Staff should be very proud of themselves.
Only downside is the signage for the event was atrocious... We are very used to navigating busy cities and we got very lost to find the entrance. The instructions were to follow staff directions from the station but there were no staff when we arrived (maybe we were too early?).

How much is the price for a bottle of wine at New Year’s Eve? And how much for glass?
And what is the price of the food?

Hi. We're planning on being in Sydney for NYE this year. How good are the views from Bangeroo Reserve, and do you have to get there early to get the good views? Any tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, Barangaroo is a ticketed vantage point and you would need to book tickets now to secure a place. I suggest that you go to the sydney new years eve web site and go to Vantage Points, then Barangaroo and you will find a link to buy tickets. When you have a ticket, you won't need to go as early as the free vantage points. Views are good and food and drinks are available, but you won't be allowed to BYO. There is a capacity of 12,000 people, but the area is quite large and I have no doubt it would be a comfortable view.
There are no pass outs, so once you're in you have to stay in.
That area is managed and has security, so it is safe as well.
