Weather cannot be controlled but why wasn’t this trip cancelled. Fours hours of boating with very little fishing opportunities. Fishermen continually being sprayed with water whilst travelling in an open boat.
I’m sure the 2 adults and the 2 teenagers were totally disappointed with this experience.

Tour advertised exclusive fishing locations only accessible by helicopter. We were taken to a location close to boat ramp that was visited by other charter boats. I would probably just save the $$ and go the boat charter.

I went for a father/son fishing trip with my 19yo son. Ben from Vision Fishing was our guide for 5 days. We had 2.5 days hunting barra on the Mary River, then 2.5 days out of Dundee Beach chasing blue water fish (Trevally, Mackeral, Tuna).
Ben was an excellent guide, after a couple of “quiet” days getting to know each other. Ben wanted us to get some easy barra as a warm up, then chase the elusive big female fish of a lifetime, which was much harder and required loads of patience. My son loved the patient hunt and the quick fire 10 fish an hour on lures near a small tidal rapid.
For the Blue water fish, Ben’s experience and “second sense” of where to find each variety at each time of tide, current and weather was uncanny. We even had 2 sail fish chasing lures right behind the boat and one 2m sailfish cruising around the boat with its sail up!
Accommodation was fair at best, but fine for the purpose - and had working aircon - probably the most essential comfort!
Ben is a great character when you get to know him and both me and my son want to go with him again next year.

Craig was our guide and he was a lad. Happy to share info about where to fish and did everything he could to get some Barra.
We got 8, one of which was 90cm. Also a bunch of muddies

It was the start of our Darwin adventure and everyone was extremely upbeat and excited. To say we were completely shocked by the reality of the experience is an understatement.. Never again will we book a tour with this operator, especially if passed on to Ben from Vision Sports fishing.
It sounded great, a full day of fishing, picked up from our hotel and dropped back. Breakfast and lunch, water and soft drinks included, fishing for Barra. Wow, sounded like a great start to our holiday......
The reality.......
Picked up in a 4x4, with fishing rods shoved through the boot into my sons neck in the backseat. Not too bad except it was a 2 hour drive.....each way. Driving way above the speed limit with obviously no care for himself or others. No pleasantries were exchanged, no information on where we were heading, how long it would take to get there or what to expect when we arrived. Questions asked were answered with mono syllable answers at best.
It was obvious from the outset that BEN the tour guide did NOT want to be there and the whole experience was uncomfortable and more than unpleasant. One of the people in our group was mid seventies and a little deaf so at one point didn't hear the instructions so was sworn and shouted at - UNBELIEVABLE.
The Tour Guide, Ben, was definately NOT a friendly person and at times intimidating and sarcastic.
Any attempts at making conversation were shut down with one word answers so it was very uncomfortable and at time nasty.
When we finally got to the boat we were very disappointed as the boat was nothing like what had been explained or shown in any advertising material.. No canopy and 30 degrees for a full day of fishing. with no sun protection.
The group decided to return early as no-one wanted to be there in the end. As expected we complained to Fish the Top End and again as expected no responsibility was taken.
Just a really disappointing experience overall.

The staff were friendly and efficient
The view was stunning
We didn’t eat there as several people told us the food was poor
However when the person in the next room had a shower I thought a vehicle was being driven in

Mike arranged and organised our fishing trip for the third year. Everything went like clockwork.

Well I don't know where to start.
$1500.00 GONE for a dismal and dangerous experience.
I have never been so excited to do a tour in my life and I've never been so utterly shocked by the reality. Never again.
It sounded great, a full day of fishing, picked up from our hotel and dropped back. Breakfast and lunch and drinks included, fishing for Barra. Wow, sounded like a dream........
The reality.......
Picked up in a 4x4, with fishing rods shoved through the boot into my sons neck in the backseat. Not too bad except it was a 2 hour drive.....each way. He ended up sitting with his neck bent for 4 hours and was in a fair amount of pain for the following few days.
The 'tour operator' drank 2 of the largest energy drinks I've seen in 30 minutes and was jittery.
The 'tour operator' played with his phone and internet and Bluetooth and texted while driving 120km's an hour for the entire 4 hour drive!!!! As I was in the back seat I could see him googling away on his phone while driving at high speeds with my kids in his car. TRULY FRIGHTENED.
He was NOT a friendly person and I personally felt highly intimidated and scared to speak up.
We kept trying to make conversation and he'd shut us down with one word answers so it was very very uncomfortable.
We had to buy our own breakfast. Weird as it was meant to be included. He simply stopped at a servo and said "go get breakfast, I'll get supplies"
When we finally got to the boat we were very disappointed. No canopy. 35 degrees for a full day of fishing with no sun protection. I ended up with sunstroke and we were all burnt beyond belief. We had sunscreen but it was no match for pure sun and heat for so many hours. The next few days of our holiday were very uncomfortable.
We were told that you cant fish with canopies. Yet most of the other fishing charter boats on the river that day all had canopies. It was unpleasant.
We never got so much as a single bite from any fish, neither did the tour operator. They were 4 of us (me, hubby, 18 year old son, 12 year old son), plus him, so that's very disappointing,
Lunch was interesting.... A warm salad and warm ham, stale muffins and some apples.
My 12 year old son was spoken down to and berated for not remembering to flick over his bail (on the fishing rod). He had never once in his life fished before. In my opinion he got the hang of it so fast that I was truly impressed. He made 2 mistakes in a whole day and did NOT warrant being spoken to the way he was. He is an intelligent, lovely, friendly and respectful kid and he loves to learn. Ive never seen him treated so poorly.He was told if would be 'his fault' if we didn't end up with a catch. It was disgusting. Once again, I was intimidated and shocked and didn't know what to do.
Infact we were all over friendly as a way to encourage him to be friendly or kind. Didn't work.
I cast my line to far 'once' and was spoken to like a dog as he snatched the rod from my hands.
When he packed up the boat, we all got back in the car...He had gotten himself a coke and ice from the esky and didn't offer any of us one. Not being used to the heat, we were dying of thirst.
The trip back to the hotel was as horrid as the trip there. He played with his phone the whole way while driving again at very speeds. The rods were pressing into my sons neck and barely a word was spoken. We did not try to make friendly conversation anymore as he had spoken to our son so revoltingly that we didn't want to say a word to him.
He never said 'Sorry' that we didn't get so much as a bite.
Never apologised for the treatment of our 12 year old.
We practically jumped out of his car when we arrived at the hotel and I can safely say we were all truly shocked at the entire "experience".
I will never in my entire life ever get sucked into a 'charter' like this again.
I walked away thinking, "good con, good con"!.
The danger of playing with his phone while driving with kids in the car and the disgraceful treatment of my son is unfixable and will go down as the worst experience I have EVER had while travelling. Avoid.

I took my wife on a half day fishing cruise on Darwin Harbour costing $140 each. The boat was on time with the skipper and mate very professional. Our first inkling that all was not well was before we left the wharf and the skipper said we could be lucky.
Turns out Darwin has HUGE tides up to 8 metres or 26 feet at times and we had picked one of those days which meant it was largely unfishable. The day was pleasant with 10 other would be fishers on board but not one of us got even a bite so overall not an enjoyable experience.
If fish had been caught I am sure this would have been a different review, the skipper tried his best but we paid money for a fishing trip. Knowing the state of the tides they should not have even done a fishing charter.
