So impressed with both of our guides John & Jason! Their knowledge of Fraser Island was exceptional. A brilliant day of visits to Central Station, Lake MacKenzie and Eli Creek to name a few. Catering was delicious and we all particularly enjoyed the Champagne & choccies in the afternoon! Highly recommend the Hummer adventure 👍🏻

We wanted to do a full day tour and the wife suggested the Hummer tour and the local tour at the hotel suggested visiting Lamington National Park and Mt Tambourine, and so was very happy when the Scenic Hinterland Day Tours actually have one that does both. Our guide Barry turned upon a Hummer to pick us up at our hotel, which includes our 2 children (10 and 7), and we headed off for our adventure. Am not going to go through the tour details as it has been well described by some of the reviewers, but what really made the trip enjoyable was Barry's knowledge of the various places we visited, the things we saw, and his kind interactions with the kids (and entertaining their incessant questions). And we even managed to catch a glimpse of a few wild wallabies along the way which Barry kindly pointed out to us and we were able to take a few pictures. We truly had a blast of a day, and this would certainly be one of the highlights of this holiday of ours.

If you want a unique experience without doing the driving and planning, then this is the way to go. This tour was arranged by me for four couples as a birthday treat. Shea and Luke were excellent as the drivers and tour guides for the day. We experienced places and sights that we would never have been to if we hadn't gone four wheel driving. What a great experience and was enjoyed by all.

Booked the Hummer H2 Tour. Barry our Tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was a fantastic Day out. First we drove through the Canungra Valley where the jungle training camp for soldiers of today as well yesteryear is. First stop the Alpaca Farm where we had lamingtons and coffee for morning tea, and took lovely Photos of the scenic Valley and spectacular view of the McPherson Ranges. There were two lots of Alpacas to feed, I chose to feed the mother and two young ones. It was the first contact we had with these animals.

We then went furher up into the World Heritage listed Lamington National Park, on very windy and narrow road to O’Reilly’s mountain guest-house, made nationally famous by the heroic journey of Bernard O’Reilly in finding and rescuing the only 2 survivors of the 1937 Stinston plane crash, almost ten days after the plane went missing. There is a replica of the plane, and a statue of the two survivors and Bernard O'Reilly in parkland on the way to O'Reillys Tree Top Canopy Walk, which starts out as Booyong Board walk, until it reaches the suspended bridge 160m long and 16m high. we had a young man from the UK with us, and he decided to do the ladder Tree Climb that is positioned where the suspended bridge changes direction, being grey nomads we opted out of the ladder climb. This is a very easy walk suitable for all ages. Barry gave descriptions of the different flora within the rainforest and pointed out Strangler Figs, and bush turkey mounds, among many other plants and birds.

We then did some off-road four wheel driving, along Duck Road, which is a deeply rutted and well-used track. We passed more vehicles on this track, than we did while ascending the mountain. This is bush whacking at its best, we came out near the Albert Valley and continued on to Beaudesert, and then up to the Gallery Walk at Mt Tamborine, where we had lunch at a winery there. Not taken in by Gallery Walk, very disappointed of almost total lack of Australian or Mt Tamborine made products.

Then off to Curtis Falls, we did the shorter circuit down to the falls, which actually still had water flowing over the rocks. (May is dry in Qld), the creek was a bit sluggish, the rocks (all volcanic) were huge, and Barry again described some of the vegetation. The steps and track on return where a bit steep in places. I admit I am very unfit.

Stopped at a couple of lookouts on way down the Mountain, Took in the countryside around upper Coomera and Wonga Wallen Creek (yes it was two words originally) and translates as many pigeons. (hubby ancestors were among the first to settle in the area).

we were then dropped back to our accommodation in Surfers.

Hubby really enjoyed his birthday present. Big thank you to Barry who was very informative and good luck to Christos from the UK.who was on the tour, and was the nominated as the official gate-opener. It was a great day out and a great experience.

A tour I highly recommend, don't scrimp. Do the whole day, it is well worth it.

We booked the hummer H2 tour and had the best time. Our guide Garry was just lovely and was fantastic with the kids... He was full of great information about the area and sights.

As there were five of us it was just us on tour so Garry made it very clear it was our day and if we wanted to stop for a photo or something just let him know.

Our day took us to an Alpha Farm for morning tea, with beautiful views of the valley... we then wound our way up to O'Riellys where we did the treetop walk. Including the ladder climb up to the top of the canopy (Garry was wonderful taking our kids up as we were stuck on the phone sorting out an emergency back home).

We then drove down Duck Creek Road a dirt road full of twists and turns, bumps and mud... Kids loved it as they giggled and squealed. We bypassed the 40 min walk to a waterfall as it was wet so we headed straight to lunch and the Gallery Walk.

Lunch at the winery was leasiourly and delicious. When we finished my hubby and I did some wine tasting while Garry sat with the kids eating icecream....

We enjoyed a couple of hours shopping, tasting fudge, cheese, wine, a visit to the brewery and granny macs lolly shop.

After such a great day we all piled in the hummer to head home... Garry took us on a small detour with stunning views of the coastline, to make up for not seeing the waterfall. All in all a wonderful day.

Upon arrival back at our hotel Miss 12, Miss 11 and Mr 9 announced it was the BEST DAY EVER and better than any theme park. It was hugs all round for Garry who really made the day with his quick wit and fun stories. Thanks Garry!!

The hummer sounds exciting, main reason why we booked it. It turned out to be more of a nature excursion than a 4wd adventure we anticipated. But that isnt a bad thing at all. We actually learnt ALOT from d tour. It was very educational and interesting. Our guide, Glenn was amazing!

The tour included a tea break and lunch.

The views on tamborine mount were amazing. The waterfalls were magnificent. It takes you away from the glitz and glitter of goldcoast and into the hinterlands. We even spotted wallabies in its natural habitat.

Highly recommend if you happen to be in gold coast.

This was a good day out. Phil , our guide, was full of knowledgeable yarns . There were only 3 passengers on this tour, so it seemed more like a family outing.
First brief stop was Canungra, where we were told that the old tramway tunnel is no longer open.
Sadly, whoever runs the Alpaca farm decided to be elsewhere (unbeknown to Phil) , so we just had a quick look at the animals.
At O'Reillys we had our scones & tea, followed by the rainforest walk.
After a super drive we found ourselves at Tambourine. Lunch was followed by a liesurely stroll around the shops on Gallery walk. It was then back to the Hummer for an exciting off-road journey back down the mountain.
It was a nice day out , but NOT as described. The Natural Arch and Curtis Falls were not included. So with the absence of Alpaca farm & tramway tunnel it looks like we missed out somewhere.
