Love this hidden bar in the basement, its really cosy and great atmosphere. We came in the afternoon when it opened and came back later on and it was too busy to even get a table so you need to get in early and hang around. They have live music as well.

Hidden basement bar with a good cocktail selection, while the staff could've been friendlier. Bar is very dark which is nice, but it's hard to read the menu. Drinks have to be ordered at the bar.

Went here as it was one of few places open late in the city. LOVED the live blues music they had- awesome band. Packed, low lighting and a “sit where you can find room” feel but really cool atmosphere. The drinks were pretty pricey but to be expected for Melbourne city. Huge selection of drinks though!

Bad, Bad, Bad. Will not admit (illegally) 19 & 20 year olds, even with drivers licences, because they don't meet the vibe the bar wants. We walked 5 blocks only to be told
we were too well presented and dressed. Those young ones were with their parents.

I so rarely review any places on Tripadvisor, so this is a real rarity for me.
Came here as friends recommended it & were already here ordering drinks. Came to bar and not a single bar tender acknowledged or smiled at me - even when making eye contact. I used to work in a bar, and acting like a sullen teenager towards a customer would have given me a written warning so dunno how they get away with it here 😂
Reading menu at the bar and see on first page ‘happy isn’t limited to just an hour’ or something similar.. suggesting happy hour (exactly what it’s referring to) isn’t limited to just one hour.
At the same time; my friends are ordering at the bar and are ordering multiple of the same drink so let the bar tender know this so he doesn’t have to keep make the same drink over and over. At this point he replies like the absolutely most miserable teen imaginable that it doesn’t make a difference and walks off. Again, if I’d have spoken to someone in my previous job in this way i’d have got immediately pulled up on it and got a warning.
Once their drinks are served by the miserable bar tender who shouts at them about not drinking the dry ice while still bubbling, he eventually acknowledges me & I ask if there are any deals / happy hour on. He says no - so let’s assume happy is absolutely reserved to one hour per day, and maybe even that’s a reach 😂😭. I ask what the cheapest beer on tap is, and he tells me at 11:30 they’re cleaning the lines so they’re not available. Cleaning the lines is totally understandable and very good practice for a bar - except no good business would ever do this during operating hours as this is such a huge potential loss of sales so this is obviously disappointing to me & indicates a poorly run business 😬
Cheapest CAN of beer is $9 which is insane to me. Might have enjoyed the experience on another occasion if staff weren’t kind of rude, miserable, and drinks weren’t so pricey.

Excellent bar for pre dinner, post dinner or just anytime drinks. If you enjoy a good single malt this is definitely the place for you. I tried a selection Isley single malts and had to be reminded that we had a table booked for dinner, otherwise I might still be there. Will definitely be going back.

Typically we come here when in the city for a bender, it is on the top end but the drinks are incredibly good. We've tried all fo the cocktails, The Dude is good and Bye Bye Paris. Or a name something like that, with the fancy mist.
Also does live music, along the jazz lines.

Felt like we travelled back in time with the 1920s theme. Abundant options for cocktail and other cold beverages. The bar staff are well trained and easy to talk to. They can accommodate your taste to any drink, you just need to let them know what you like. Loved the style this place brought and would highly recommend visiting this place. Prices are moderate starting from $18 a cocktail.

After booking 7 days in advance as we wanted to experience BDL and their menu, we were turned away for having children under the age of 18. Although nothing on their booking website or venue website asked for ages of guests. This was just after lockdown of COVID 19 was lifted and we then couldn’t get anywhere to eat in the CBD after being turned away, very disappointing coming from regional Victoria to experience this venue, we had booked accommodation just to be turned away. We were told the music would not be suitable even though it started at 8.30pm and our booking was 6.30pm.
They tried to say our kids would not like it in there but after questioning that, they said they didn’t want our kids in their venue. Not only are we disappointed it was embarrassing.
