This pocket park adjoins the Parliament of Victoria in Spring St. It has an attractive water feature, It also has a statue of Sir Douglas Nicholls and Gladys, Lady Nicholls, who were active in the Aboriginal civil rights movement.

A fairly small triangular park by the Parliament. Has a large water feature and a monument to the Bourke Street massacre (we couldn't actually find this). Shaded benches on a hot day.

Sitting close to Parliament house is this pretty little garden. Despite the busy hub bub of city life outside this is a calm relaxing place. The Coles fountain is both pretty and the children love it. It is also home to a statue of Pastor Sir Douglas & Lady Gladys Nicholls who fought for the rights of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People

The Parliament Gardens are small but they provide welcome relief from Melbourne's teaming traffic. The Gardens adjoin the Parliament of Victoria, one of the city's most imposing heritage buildings. Benches are available to sit on. The gardens have several interesting features, including a fountain and statues of Pastor Sir Douglas Nicholls and Gladys, Lady Nicholls. They were pioneers in the struggle for indigenous advancement.

Parliament Gardens is a lovely green area just around from Parliament House. It is not a huge space but it makes the whole area look better. It's a nice spot for a short walk and a sit down, to meet friends or have a rest. There are some nice statues and some water features as well.

This green space is not that large, taking up a corner near the state parliament building. There is a fancy fountain in the centre and a few places to sit.

Melbourne is known for its parks and gardens and the Parliament Gardens are although small, no less beautiful. The location is right next to Parliament House but also opposite the Princess Theatre and Parliament Railway Station with of course trams running out the front. It's on the corner so triangular in shape but big bang on a place to lie on the lovely green grass, listen to the sound of the fountain and soak up Melbourne.
Withinthe park is a memorial for two of the most prominent indigenous leaders of Australia; Pastor Sir Douglas and Lady Gladys. Plus there is also included with the memorial an artwork by Ngarra Murray.
The Coles Fountain which was built in 1981 attracts many people during the warmer months with its cascading curtain of water. I find the sound very tranquil and inviting, especially when the ducks come to visit and bring their ducklings. There are park benches, water fountain and plenty of bins.
Notes: Wheelchair accessible. Kid friendly. No bikes to be ridden through the park.

The Parliament Gardens are quite charming, despite their diminutive size. The Gardens adjoin Parliament House and are always lush and green. The Gardens are best known for their fountains, which are quitre unusual. However, the statues of Sir Douglas Nichols (1906-1988) and Gladys, Lady Nichols (1906-81) are more interesing. The couple were pioneering campaigners for Aborigfinal reconciliation. Douglas Nichols was the first Aboriginal to be knighted by the Queen and tthe first Aboriginal to hold Vice Regal office when he was appointed Governor of South Australia

Another gem of a park in Melbourne. There’s bins and tap water but not much else. What it does have is the showstopper Coles fountain, built in 1981. Still on a sunny day there aren’t many picturesque places in Melbourne than this place. Unless you’re one of the lucky ones to find parking on Albert Street, best way to get here is via Parliament station or via tram (Parliament Stop 10).

Lovely small park to escape from the city. Park is small but has a number of seats, well maintained gardens and nice grass. Fountain wasn’t going when I was there but it’s an impressive structure anyway

Does anyone know what are the operating hours of the water feature throughout the week?
