Unfortunately the kiosk at Nobbys Beach has the worst customer service and the food is average at best. Very disappointing

Quite a large beach in Newcastle. Can take dogs (and kids!). There's a nice walk beside the beach to the light house too. Beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the day- swim between the flags~

What a lovely spot, you can walk along the water bridge and read about newcastle. There is an off leash beach, so cute to watch dogs running. Arriving near the lighthouse ok the right there is a lovely beach to lie down with sand dunes. There is a lot of parking, space for long vehicles too.

A really impressive beach with great views, a nice cafe and life guards on duty. Around the precinct is a large grassed area, playgrounds and a basketball hoop. A great way to spend an enjoyable afternoon.

Nice place to go in Newcastle. The sand is fine and does not stick on your feet. Nice to play on the beach , walk the dog, sit on the fine sand and watch the waves. Or stroll up the lighthouse.
Worth going ! Got my vote

I love this beach for the breakwater. Great when the surf is rough. Nice beach all round with a great little cafe for takeaway food and drink.

Didn't have a chance to go swimming - but definitely a good place to stroll and relax... the good weather added to the experience.

The Kangaroo That Lives Inside Nobbys
A very long time ago, when there were still giant sized animals around (mega fauna), all the various animals within the area would separate into two groups – one group being the females and the other the males.
They all lived together very peacefully and happily.
One day a large male kangaroo attacked a female wallaby.
This was against the law.
He was banished from the kangaroo group forever.
After a long chase by the wallabies the kangaroo reached Muloobinba, the place of the sea ferns, now called Newcastle.
As he entered the sea, he thought about how lucky he was to be able to slip away from the wallabies that chased him.
The wallabies thought that he had drowned.
But the kangaroo had swum to Nobbys Island and entered the tall rocky outcrop, making sure that he was out of sight of everyone.
He is still there to this day, but he won't come out because he is never sure if it is safe for him from the angry wallabies.
Sometimes he gets upset and jumps around inside his prison. When his giant tail crashes against the earth, it makes the rocks fall and the ground tremble.
The Awabakal people believe this is what causes an earthquake.

I have bought tickets for the Foreshore concert here in November 2016. Whats a nice close park for us to stay in if we decide to bring our campervan up, otherwise some nice accomodation walking distance to stay in on the beach.

I haven't had experience with holiday parks but agree regarding Stockton holiday park as there will probably be extra ferries available to & from Stockton on the for this event.

Is there somewhere to eat later in the afternoon?
Skrevet 9. januar 2016
Scratchleys, an lovely restaurant on the foreshore also have a takeaway & ice creams reasonably priced! There are also a couple of coffee shops such as Queens Wharf cafe & a take away kiosk also just across the street is Harry's Cafe De Wheels for pies & hot dogs! 😊
