Spectacular garden we visited, beautiful and well maintained, in short a work of art and good taste.
You breathe nature and peace..
The figures and floral arrangements of honor plate.
I recommend it.

My husband and I went just for the gardens but at $40 per head (no seniors discount during school holidays apparently), it was was extremely disappointing and not worth the entry price. Being winter time the garden did not look at its best, but I was expecting something much better. I think out of season entry fee should be far less, in my opinion. I would not recommend this as a garden to visit, but if you are happy to part with $40 per adult then I think wait until spring when most plants should be in bloom, that way you may not be as disappointed.

Snow time was way too busy.
Waited 30 mins in the carport just to be told to do a U-turn and go back and park in the top car park 10 min walk away.
Waited in line for 1 hour to buy tickets and my son couldn't go on any rides even accompanied with me which makes no sense.
My son is 4 and has gone on all these rides before and I don't understand why it's an issue when he is sitting on my lap in my arms.
Place over packed and over priced.
Never going again and don't recommend it for families.

I’m conflicted with this review. I very rarely even leave reviews.
I really pushed for us to visit and spend a morning here because I had fond memories from visits maybe 12-15 years ago. I don’t know if there’s been a new generation of management or something but… it kind of tainted my happy memories.
The gardens haven’t changed including the artistic installations, and it looks like they haven’t been consistently maintained in over a decade.
If I could take back our visit, I’d probably do it and save the money. In terms of pricing $38 per adult is about twice how much I’d be comfortable paying for the experience we had. And the garden really doesn’t stand up to the standard of free botanic gardens around the state eg ones in cities and Mt Tomah for example. I know they are far away, but the point being that I’d withhold garden visits for elsewhere or later trips. More pride is evident in these gardens, and - big bonus - they are entirely free to visit!
We visited on a Saturday and first thing we noticed was that lots of ‘features’ were closed. Gift shop and rides were closed.
Throughout the gardens the ‘mega beasts’ provided endless nightmare fuel. Dismembered and incongruent with the gardens, we had no idea what was going on. I guess we had presumed things would be a bit more polished for a weekend. Instead, we got headless dinosaurs littering the gardens and giant insects tormenting poor, beloved storybook characters. Half deconstructed set pieces were left in random walkways, pagodas and gardens. So. Confusing. Especially when you just want to enjoy some gardens.
It’s not even that the mega beasts event was happening, but if you had come to see that… I think you’d be just a tad disappointed.
It was definitely a memorable experience, so in a really weird way we enjoyed it because it gave abandoned theme park vibes.
Lots of the actual gardens were nice. I want to be fair, hence the 3 stars. Overall, the plant side - which you would hope was the focus - was nice. It was all the additional elements that really spoiled the experience. You want the focus to be on the stunning botanical elements, they were lovely.
In conclusion, I’m going to relegate Hunter Valley Gardens to fond childhood memories and not visit again.

I used to love the gardens, but now it’s overpriced and a waste of money. $38 per adult a lot of displays are outdated or damaged. Gift shop was closed. Really disappointing & very sad we wasted money we could’ve used to explore elsewhere

I didn't like this place at all, very kitsch, really very "fake" and the price was $30 for it!! In addition, there is an additional charge for attractions. We are really making fun of the world! To flee !

Really disappointed with the gardens. We were expecting much more for $38 per person. Definitely not good value for money.
Flowers in some of the borders would help.
We’ve been to much better gardens for a fraction of the cost. Seems like a money making exercise by the owners. Some reinvestment is required

I was expecting better looking gardens. Just the 2 oriental gardens were the better kept out of all of them. The Botanical gardens in Sydney, Hobart, Cairns & Perth are heaps better and they're free. The Fairy tale Garden was cute because of the statues and stories - not really a garden. Maybe drastically reduce your prices to adults $10 & kids $5. Give it a miss. Wouldn't go again.

Very disappointed in the deterioration of the gardens. They are not being maintained. This used to be world class and is very embarrassing now. The lights were pleasant and lovely in spots but plenty were falling apart. The gift shop was an absolute joke. Rubbish. I very much hope it is restored to its former state.

I read that the Christmas lights were bad, old & rundown. I wasn’t looking forward to going but I was absolutely thrilled with them. So many gorgeous lights & themes. Great fun park, food & drinks. Would definitely recommend, it’s was amazing 🤩

Thinking to visit the garden on 26 Jan and would like to see the Xmas light spectacular as well. thinking about the light ticket only and wondering if I would get full access of the garden from 5:30pm or just a certain part of the garden where the Xmas light display? Thank you.
Skrevet 15. januar 2019
Hi Camilla, the Christmas Lights are not throughout the entire gardens. While they do cover a large area and you can see much of the Gardens, there are also many areas not included that are beautiful during the day because they are more untouched. If you would like to experience it in full we recommend a day/night pass as they are two very different experiences.

Are snow gears required? Do they provide gears on hire for snow rides?
Skrevet 16. juli 2018
Not required . I have not seen such arrangement of offering snow gear there .
Skrevet 17. juli 2018
How long do you need to walk around like 3-4hours or all day?
Skrevet 6. juni 2018
We walked around in the morning because we had younger children. You could take a lot longer. There are a couple of theme park style rides on the side as well if it is open. That was closed when we were there. Also quite good food available and good coffee shop.

Hi, i am planning to visit Hunter Valley Gardens at end of July or early August with my family. I am just wondering whether the flowers in this garden will have already bloomed in this period, because it is still winter? Or is it better to visit it at end of August. Kindly need your information. Thank you.

Hi There,
Thanks for your questions and apologies for the delayed response!
Because of the diversity of the Gardens there are elements throughout our 10 display gardens that peak at different times of the year, so there will always be something to see and we have nearly 30 full time staff on our horticulture team working hard to maintain this. If you want to see the most blooms though, the best time to visit would be as close to spring as possible. Of course this is all weather dependent too.
Thank you!

reasonable accommodation close to the gardens please

Hi, we stayed at Hermitage Lodge... and it was handy to everything, a couple of mins drive from the gardens & seemed reasonable to us price-wise for the Hunter.
