It was a hot day hiking the Henry Cliff Walk, but the sight of the flowing water at Bridal Veil and Leura Cascades was a breathtaking sight. Looking down from the top of the falls, I could see people splashing around in the water below.

Incredible place, such natural beauty and a great walk. Highly recommended. Came in from the bush trail angle. A bit of a walk but breathtaking.

Thanks to the incompetence of the local council, road access to Leura Cascades has been unavailable since early 2019. So it's a bit of a hike just to get to the picnic area at the start of the cascades.
The walk to the base of the cascades takes about 10-15 minutes. Make sure you turn right directly after crossing the footbridge across the creek. After rain the section of the track before the bridge becomes flooded, so waterproof shoes/boots are good. The track after the bridge descends, following the cascades, and there are steps all the way.
You can access the cascades before the bottom section but be warned - the rock platform is very slippery.
The most scenic part of the cascades is at the bottom, but this area has been severely impacted by 2 separate landslides since 2019, with lots of tree and rock debris now taking up a lot of space at the bottom.
If you continue walking the track you come to a small lookout at the top of Bridal Veil Falls. Another 15 minutes can see you at the base of Bridal Veil and just upstream from Leura Weeping Rock.
Final Tip: Do NOT drink the creek water. It flows down from the industrial area between Katoomba and Leura. The council monitors the toxicity levels and at times have closed off access when it gets too high.

This cascading waterfall is a joy to visit, especially after there has been some local rainfall. We were lucky in that it had rained and the volume of water coming down improved the photo opportunities. Moderate walk in from the Leura end via the cliff walk which is through a fantastic protected forest. He walking path is well maintained but can get a little slippery after rain. A great way to spend a couple of hours and enjoy a rest walk in a pristine mountain environment.

I arrived here a week after the big storms, so I was t overly surprised to see the track closed. So if you do visit here, do check with the info centre to see it has reopened before you make the journey over.

It doesn't get the long drop of some nearby falls but the main drop is my favourite for the way it tumbles over interesting rocks and the cascades extend so far up the valley along the boardwalks. Some tracks are closed at the moment but we came in on the Prince Henry Cliff Track, were forced to divert onto the Round Track (essential anyway for seeing the best parts of the falls) and exited to Cliff Drive close to Leura.

I guess the Blue Mountains is pretty spectacular whenever you go, but the cascades are still something special. It’s a relatively easy walk from Leura, or if you are up for a challenge, walk in from Katoomba and work those legs!
When done hit the high street cafes for a well earned break.

We were disappointed to find that the road to the cascades is blocked off and the cascades are currently closed. Obviously safety is more important though so we went to the Katoomba cascades instead and found that to be very picturesque.

The cascade was just average in my opinion. Just a nice photo stop. The walk it was however great with lots of local/ plants and trees to see. Learnt more about these during the walk. Note that certain part could be a bit steep.

Hi I was just wondering if The Cascade walk are pet friendly
Skrevet 8. september 2019
Just to be clear, given the wrong advice given in other answers, it is an offence to take dogs, cats and any other domestic pets into any National Park. This necessarily includes the Blue Mountains National Park.
Most walks and tracks in the Blue Mountains are in the National Park, but many are instead within the precinct of the Blue Mountains City Council, and they have different rules.
The line between the BMNP area and the BMCC area is invisible, but a rough rule of thumb is that the BMNP's responsibility begins at the escarpment/cliff edge.
The Leura Cascades picnic area is under BMCC control. Within that confined grassy area, dogs on leash are permitted. But as soon you begin walking down to the Cascades, they are banned.
The BMCC has designated 14 parks as off-leash, with time restrictions in place for each one.
Confused? Look for the signage at the beginning of any track. If its a blue BMCC sign it will state whether dogs on leash are permitted or not. If there is no signage, assume its NPWS and dogs are banned.
