I visited this underwater sculpture park with my partner and 2 friends on our most recent holiday to Cyprus, last month.
My partner and I are regular visitors to the Protaras area and were looking for things to do with our friends, who were first time visitors to the island.
Surprisingly, I had never heard about this attraction before, but we were very keen to check it out.
There is a cabin near the entry point of the sea, to the right side of the beach area, and a staff member in there gave us some advice on the route to take out to the different pontoons along the way, there is no entrance fee.
I must point out that we were snorkelling and you do have to be a fairly strong and confident open water swimmer. You’ll need your own equipment, and I recommend a float bag for safety. You enter the water off a ladder near the cabin and swim out between the flags, past the water break and towards the first pontoon, approximately 100 metres from the entry point. Here you can stop for a rest if needed, then swim on to the second pontoon a further 100 metres along. From the second pontoon, you can start to see the underwater sculptures as you swim in the direction of the third and final pontoon. They are spread out over approximately 100-150 metres and are at a depth of around 10 metres.
We were absolutely amazed at the beautiful display of art and am so pleased we found this gem of an attraction!
The sea is so clear that you can still see the sculptures fairly clearly, even from the surface at a distance. There were several scuba divers around, and I’d imagine the view from deeper down is even more spectacular. The total swim distance, to the final pontoon at the end of the display, and back, is probably around 650-700 metres. You can stop for rests if needed, as it’s much harder going in the sea than in a pool!
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is into snorkelling.

Looks super cool. Admission is free and you can rent a snorkel and a floating device.
Tip: bring your own snorkel.
Warning: it's quite a swim. It is quite challenging, especially with a bit of headwind (wave action). They have placed a number of pontoons halfway and at the end of the route, but it is almost impossible to climb on them. You can hang on to it for a while. Definitely not recommended for children and weaker swimmers!

This is such a great idea, but they should make it more accessible to all.
It was quite a way out and there was nowhere to get scuba diving kit, so unless you’re a strong swimmer, you can’t go. We had kids with us so there was no way we were going to let then.
There is no barrier, no little boats that can take you, so it’s a bit dangerous. There is a lifeguard, but on the other side of the beach.
Very disappointed as it looked great (from the pictures only!).
Perhaps some daily trips where people had a guide or another way to feel safe would be good.

How far out from the shore is this? Can you just swim over with a snorkel?
