I came with friends a few weeks ago and was inspired. There were lovely walks to wend one's way around and a profusion of very pretty late-blooming spring flowers growing gorgeously and in abundance.

A casual day out walking paths and looking at various plants and fauna, although nothing to really rave about. The ponds were nice and the site is clean, but a walk-through the Centennial Gardens in the city is of greater value and benefit.

Note this review is in regard to the advertised Cherry Blossom Festival, not the Auburn Botanic Garden that hosts the festival. The gardens are OK , but don't bother seeing the gardens and paying $$ during the Cherry Blossom Festival event. Underwhelming best describes the blossoms. There were more overpriced food trucks than actual cherry blossom trees. Some areas for public safety were roped off, so go outside the festival to have full access. If you are expecting a Sukura Colour type experience you will be grossly dissappointed. Save some extra money take a trip to Bowral Tulip time instead.

First time visit to Cherry Blossom Festival and to the gardens. Had ticket to first session on the first Saturday. Caught train to Auburn station and travelled on first free shuttle bus to the gardens. Very well organised. The Japanese garden section was very small but plenty of photo opportunities with the cherry blossoms.Plenty of Japanese food options & they were great. . Beautiful sunny day to sit on the grass, relax & enjoy the food and drinks. Had time to also visit the fauna area with kangaroos, wallabies, emus, wombat. Lots of peacocks wandering the gardens. At the end of the session, only a short wait for return free shuttle back to Auburn station.

Ruined by commercialism indeed!
A money making business. Rude marshalling guys who would not allow us to take photos. Loudly told us off and said keep moving. Why else do people pay to go to a cherry blossom festival For photos! For memories!
I feel the council should get feedback and allocate an hour. Out of the 45mins we got today, it was raining and therefore our efforts to dress up and enjoy the atmosphere was already dampened. All I can hear now is "keep moving" (loud rude marshalls) 😒

Sadly the quiet, placid gardens and cherry blossom have been over run by commercialism. Plus now you're corralled around the garden in a horde of people. Certain areas closed off. Only walk in one direction. Constantly reminded to move on. The food stalls make it look cheap and over managed.

The gardens are always good to see, although Australian animals section is not currently available.
The colourful peacock was walking around.
Australian plants section is worth a walk around - Billabong atmospheric.
Food trucks this week are much Japanese influenced.
It was a.lovely day.
Queueing at the beginning of the Japanese Gardens entrance was tiresome: Maybe too many were ticketed for each timeslot.
Queues operated throughout that walk.

We have been wanting to visit these Gardens for some time as it had been shown on TV a while ago , so when we were visiting our Son in Doonside we decided to go . It was a Sunday Morning and we arrive a few minutes before they opened at 10 am . We were quite surprised that they charge for admission on Weekends , This doesn't make any sense as it is Free for the rest of the Week . Pensioners cost $6 .
We were given a Map to follow and proceeded to the Japanese Gardens , which was quite nice but not in the same league as the Chinese Garden of Friendship at Darling Harbor . We continue around the whole of the Gardens and the thing that really stood out was the Poor state of the Gardens , Lots of Weeds , very little in the way of Plant identification . I always thought that one purpose of Botanical Gardens was to Educate People , so these Gardens Fail in that regard . Also they are very Run Down , most of the Lawns needed Mowing and Weeding . The Rose Garden was Terrible , with Rose bushes so spaced out they looked Pathetic . The Council should have a good look at this and compare this to other Gardens that don't Charge Admission but look magnificent . The Gardens in Albury spring to mind . I don't think we will bother coming back .

This botanical garden is a treasure hidden in the western suburbs of Sydney.
Not many know how beautiful it is.
Best to go there when is the cherry blossom season.

What a suburban treasure. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and include birds and animals. Make the effort to visit. You won't be disappointed.

Hi there, grateful if you can help me with a guideline. I am planning to visit Sydney in Sept. May I know is the Cherry Blossom in the Auburn Botanic Garden still blooming at this time. Or do I have to make a visit during the Cherry Blossom Festival in the 2 weeks in August 2019?
Thank you in advance.

How do I reach the gardens by public transport,i.e. train from the city to Auburn station, then what's next?

During Cherry Blossom week there were special buses. I'm not sure but would suggest you look up State Tranist buses or ring Auburn Council. There may be local buses which pass the gates.
I would like to visit the Gardens but my husband has a disability .
How big is the Japanese Gardens please and are there many steps?
Thank you in advance.
