Along with Zizkov Television Tower ,Kostel Nejsvetejsiho Srdce Pane is one of the landmark buildings in this district of Prague.
Constructed between 1929-1932 from designs from architect Jozef Plecnik ,when I first visited this district nearly 30 years ago I thought this church building looked hideous but over the many years since I have grown so fond of this building,it's a fab looking building ,the standout feature is the clock tower,it's such an unusual looking church building that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on Namesti Jiriho Z Podebrad.

Wokół - piękny park, liczne kafejki, a obok Wieża Telewizyjna. Elewacja w remoncie, ale msze sà odprawiane.

Joze Plecnik was a Slovenian architect who had studied architecture with Otto Wagner and worked in Wagner's office in Vienna where he became associated with the Vienna Succesionist movement. Plecnik came to Prague in 1911 to teach and to live among his fellow Slavs and despite a lack of commissions he was very highly regarded among architects in Prague. For this reason, he came to the attention of President Masaryk who appointed him as the chief architect of Prague Castle in 1920. Plecnik spent 14 years transforming the dilapidated castle into a palace of democracy and symbol of Czech identity.
Despite his Slavic heritage, as the cost of construction at Prague Castle escalated during the Depression years Plecnik came to be regarded by the public as a foreign intruder and that, together with Masaryk declining health, brought an end to Plecnik's role at the Castle. The Castle's grand entrance Hall is today named Plecnik Hall.

Joze Plecnik (1872-1957) was an almost exact contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959).

Plecnik returned to Slovenia where he transformed his country's small capital city of Ljubljana. The postmodern period in architecture in the 1980s renewed interest in the classical foundation of his work and more recently the independence of Slovenia has elevated his stature in European culture.

If architecture is your thing then you must see this building. If it's not, go do something else. The church is not open for the benefit of tourists and architects. You must enter at the end of regularly scheduled services. If you think you are going to be able to enter the tower you should have written a letter to the parish office before you came to Prague. ...that will be for my next visit to Prague

Most tourists visit this church just because it is on the route to the Zizkov Tower, but I tell you it deserves more attention. The church is built at the beginning of the 20th century, has the architecture inspired by Noah's Ark and has a huge clock at the entrance that you can't miss it. If you intend to visit the churches in Prague - put this church on your list.

This modern church built between 1929 and 1932 is a quit big church but the main attraction of this church is the glass clock of 7.6 m diameter on the 42 m high tower.

An Interesting church built in mid of 20 centrury by famous architek Joze Plecnik with the dominate round clock of 7,5 meter in diamater. The structutre is inspired by Noah's Ark and incomporate royal symbolism. Definitely worth of visiting but church is open usdualy during the Mass – Sunday 8,11 and 18, Monday to Saturday 8 and 18. Quite unique and unusul interior with impressive altar.

On Saturday food market is in the park in front of the church
